PEACEFUL SUNDAY MORNING

All is quite on the home front.(shhhhh!) Just sitting here enjoying the peace and quite for the moment. The 5-5-5 will be rolling in soon, and things will be hopping. Saturday was kind of slow!? I guess the weather was a threat, but it was pleasant. Those weather people on the weather channel are so negative. Don't listen, just turn them off and look out the window! I was productive yesterday and hauled about 2 yards of mulch here. Check out #12 flower bed, it looks fabulous!! I think I used too much of the mulch though, I put it down kind of thick. Sorry Jeff. I hope we have enough left to finish the other beds.(oops) I think the course looks great. What do you think? Jeff is doing a wonderful job as usual.

Now we need to get some golfers out here to enjoy it! I'm racking my brain on how to increase membership, and play. Even though we have had an increase in new membership, we also have lost a few older memberships. I guess this is normal. I'm open to suggestions.

Well, I think B.P. just walked in, the smell of bacon should be hovering soon. Just when he thinks he has enough made, he turns around and some how the pile gets smaller!? I can't figure it out!(yum!) Maybe I'll have some of the left over meatloaf from Friday night couples. (Linda makes a killer meatloaf!!!) Then I'm off to golf. Have a great Sunday! Hope you can squeeze in some golf.

ROCK'IN RIB ROAST

A little chilly this morning. But the sun's out and it looks like it should be a good day. The "Schramble"/Rib Roast/Reverse raffle went well. Linda did a great job on the ribs(as usual), B.P. and Donna made sure everything went off without a hitch. The tournament was a little chilly and we got rained on for a couple of holes. Don't know where that came from? My Accuweather showed nothing about rain!? Wrong again!!
But everyone kept going and it warmed up as the day went on. Had a little excitement half way through, Jim Kane ACED the #1 hole. With this format that resulted in all four player's laying one, and for one player with two strokes a minus one! This took some thinking for the score keeper, but he figured it out. Thank you to Maria for helping me with the Reverse Raffle. She sold tickets and pulled the numbers for me. So for those of you who did not win, BLAME HER! On to the next event.
P.A. John-Poje-Pniewski National Car Mart B-day Bash. Sunday June 3rd. Check it out when you come in. This is a very popular event.
OK, I'm hungry now. I think I'll have some ribs for breakfast, since I never got a chance to try them yesterday.(forgot to eat again!) Looks like we are going to have a good stretch of weather here, so get your behinds out here! See ya!

SUNNY HUMP DAY!

Another perfect morning! The sun is out and we are supposed to get to 80 today. I thought we would never get there. Yesterday was nice also. I played in my morning league for the first time this year. I had the front nine from hell, but managed to pull it together on the back. But the company was good(thanks Jan, thanks Carol) and the walk was good.
Then I managed to haul some mulch at my house. I need a landscaper!!
I called my friend Jody in Hawaii to wish her a happy birthday, only to find out she had to put one of her dog's down. So sad. Maka was having a hard time back in February when I went to visit. I knew it was coming, but it still hurts. Jody and Dave got to say goodbye in the most wonderful way. The vet came to their house, and they let Maka go in the back yard with the sunset, ocean breeze, and them by his side. He has gone to meet Michelob up in doggie heaven. I find great comfort in this. For any of you who have had to go through this awful experience, you know. Ron Hickle gave me a wonderful book to read called Marley and me. I highly recommend it. Well, it's time to get back to work. Have to get everything ready for the Rib Roast Saturday. Enjoy this great weather. Hope to see you soon.

LOOKING GOOD!!

So far so good for May. What a nice week. As Dave Petrie would say "nice job on the weather Deb!" Looks like the weekend should be nice also. Hope you all can come out and get a round in. Save the yard work for the evening hours. It's cooler then. I had every intention of doing my yard work Thursday(my day off) but fate had other intentions for me. I had to come in here and set up the new pro shop cash register(what a job), but I got it done. So I started home, and my blazer breaks down. So I'm driving around in the Pickup truck. Truck'n Mama! oy! Everyday is a adventure around here. Thing's are looking up though. We have gotten a lot of new members. I have had a good response to the "sponser a new member" incentive. Now we just have to get them to participate in some of the club events, leagues ect... Have any ideas? Let me know.
Ok, back to work. (then maybe some golf). Have a great weekend.

SUNNY SUNDAY MORNING!!!

It's back!! The sun that is. What a great morning! Why didn't I schedule the International for today? You would think I could predict the weather by now! We got the tournament in among the rain drops. It sort of spit on us all day. But we pushed on and had a good day. I even managed to come in on a winning team. (fix!) Yeah right. We had a little NFL draft day contest. Pick the positions of the first four draft picks for the Browns. I have to get the paper and see what happened and find the winner. I couldn't watch that all day. Cheeseburger, fries, draft beer for $5.00. All draft beer $1.00 What a deal! Hope everyone enjoyed. The Rib Roast is next. Got to get to work on that. The 5-5-5 is starting to roll in, I have to get to work for a little while(then some golf) Life is rough!! Hope to see you soon.

THERE GOES THE SUN!

It was nice while it lasted. Now I'm sitting here watching it rain, listening to PA ask every five minutes, Deb what's the radar say. I keep telling him it don't say S*&%!!!!!! Wally is working on Bob's computer and trying to teach him how to use the darn thing. Cal's here also, hanging out and mumbling something or another. I think I need a Michelob!!!! We have the International coming up Saturday. Hopefully the weather will turn around. If it doesn't I think I'll need a bunch of Michelob's!! Have a nice day!!!

HERE COMES THE SUN!!!!

Finally, the sun has made it's way to Richfield! About time! Come on out and see for yourself. The 5-5-5 has started officially, the Ladies leagues luncheons are this coming week, along with the Friday night couples spring dance. The Old Guy's have been playing all along, and are ready to golf in some warm weather. The leagues will start the week after that.
Linda and I are going to be busier than a one armed paper hanger!
(not complaining, just stating) The rest of the staff will be back soon.
Linda,B.P., Donna, Darlene, Alex, Tracey are looking forward to coming back and serving you. That also means I can get out more and work on my game. My friend Laurie Johnson came up from Columbus Friday to play. She thought she was going to get a couple of Fike dollars, but I managed to keep them in my pocket. (Sorry girl friend, maybe next time). I hope to get out Sunday and enjoy some of this sunshine. Chances are pretty good! Don't let this weekend go by without getting some golf in!!! Winter will be here before you know it!! (Oops, sorry about that!)
See you soon!

Good deal at the Quaker!

The Golf show at Quaker Steak & Lube was a success. A good number of people attended, and stopped by our booth to chat and inquire about membership. The wings were great, the beer was cold, and the D.J. rocked. A couple of member's stop by to say hello, and to let passer's by know how much they enjoy St. Bernard G.C. (Thanks Ken, Thanks John).
I brought my camera, but forgot to take pictures. Go figure.
The last couple of day's have been busy here. The old heating A/C unit has been removed, the roof has been fixed, and they are back today to start installing the new unit. (Hambone is like a proud Papa!) Now all I need are some golfers to heat and cool. Come on out and hit a few balls. The weather is looking better this week. It's time to get back in the swing of things! See you soon!

GLOBAL WARMING MY BUTT!!!

Is the sun ever going to shine? What do you think? The course is in such good shape, but only a few people have been playing. Don't believe the weather people! We have had good days here, when they were calling for rain all day. Come on out!
My next venture is this coming Monday, April 16th. For the second year Quaker Steak and lube on canal road in valley view is hosting a golf show. WKNR is sponsoring it, and will be broadcasting live from the show.
Different golf course's set up booths to promote their course. I went last year with Wally and we had a blast. I get a booth, a bucket of chicken wings, and free beer. What else could I ask for? (don't answer that!) They raffle off prizes through out the show for the people who attend. Golf gift certificates, golf balls, and whatever else gets donated. It is from 6pm to 9 pm. Stop by and say hello if you get a chance.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Do you believe this? I go to Stanc's for a couple of michelob's go home and to bed and wake up to this!!!! I guess I should cancel getting the roof fixed today. Golfing in 80 degree weather on Tuesday, and shoveling snow on Friday. Only in Cleveland! or Buffalo!(hope you get through to Cleve safely K.K.) I wonder what it would take to get the grounds crew for the Tribe to come over here and remove the snow?
If they can play ball today, why can't we golf ? We should be sitting in the clubhouse having cocktails and watching Tiger win the Master's! (or Phil)
Post your opinion!! Have a happy Easter everyone, enjoy the Master's, and think warm thoughts! Blog me!

CHILI OPEN NOT SO CHILLY

Hi everyone. Well we got the Chili open in on Sunday. I did my no rain dance, and held the rain back. The temp was a little warm for a Chili open, but I don't think anyone minded. The sun came out in the afternoon, which prompted PA John to start a bud open. 16 played.
We had 32 for the Chili Scramble. We had 6 entries for the chili contest.
Thank's to everyone who made chili. Jeff Krikwood was trying to defend his title this year, but missed by one vote. Sorry Jeff. PA John got first place chili(even though Marlene cooked it)chili #4, and Second place chili went to Don Foutz chili #3. I hope everyone had a good time!
Today and Tuesday look great for golf, but by Wed it looks like everything hit's the fan!! Oh well, April in Cleveland! Have a great day everyone!!

Spring has Sprung!!!

Good afternoon. The weather is starting to break (finally!)and we are here cleaning up the course getting ready for a great new season at
St. Bernard G.C.. We have had numerous malfunctions in the club house all winter, but one by one we are getting them fixed. I had the good fortune to take a vacation this winter. I was able to go to Hawaii and visit and stay with my friend Jody. I went with my good friend Andrea and had a girls vacation. We had a blast!!! The only bad part was I did not get to golf. Oh well. I will be getting out here soon and try to get to cob webs off my game. Jeff is out working hard (as usual) getting the course in shape. The first event is coming up Sunday April 1st. The Chili Open. Hope you all can play!!! Linda will be making her famous chili, and members are bringing in their favorite chili recipes for everyone to sample and judge the best.
Hope to see you soon!!!!
