FRANTIC FRIDAY!
Oy!, B.P. better get back here soon!! I don't think I take the crew for granted around here, but boy when they are not here it makes me appreciate them even more. Linda is going to slap my silly soon. I keep fretting over everything. She keeps telling me to calm down, everything will work out. It always does, but in the mean time I worry! I think I got everything under control. We have a group of 16 today and they are just turning now. The junior league is right behind them and they should be finishing up soon. Then the Friday night couples will be starting next. It's a good day!! Linda is making pot roast for the couples tonight. I can smell it cooking. Now I'm hungry!! I'll have that for breakfast tomorrow. Maybe a piece of fruit to balance things out! Two outings Saturday. This is good!! The weather looks great also. Then Sunday we have a big outing. 80 golfers. Yeah!! I guess my game is going to suffer a little. I won't be able to golf until Monday. Poor me!!!! Ok, back to work. Hope you all have a great weekend. Only 22 days until preseason football!!!!! Go Browns!!!

Manic Monday
It's another beautiful morning! We have been blessed with such nice weather. We had the "schramble" yesterday. It was a good day. Even though I did not place again!!!! Just have to practice more. Not this week though. B.P. is on VK this week. So we are all pitching in and covering his shifts. That means I am stuck inside today, doing the everyday stuff. That includes cooking!!(you might want to stop at McDonalds on your way in!) HURRY BACK BP!!! It could be a long week!! I have a few small outings coming up this week, and we are hosting a golf clinic for the local school kids this week. I recruited John Zupanc and Joe Toncler to help get us through the outings. Thanks guys!! It's nice to have such great members here. Always willing to pitch in and help. I am lucky!! Well, the old guys are started, and some of the ladies are starting to come in. I guess I need to get my butt in gear. Hope to see you soon!!

SWEATED OUT ANOTHER ONE!

That little bit of rain was nice! But boy was the timing bad! We had Mayor Hruby's outing today. The first tee time was 6:45, OY!! That alarm going off at 4:00am is a awful sound. It's not the first time, nor the last. Things started out good, but the skies turned dark and the storms came. Fortunately it passed through quickly and we were only delayed 25 minutes. Then it let up, I told B.P. to get the players going because my radar said all the rain was passed. So the next group tees off, and wham!!! It came down in buckets. Sorry guy's!! What can I say, I'm not usually wrong about these things! HA!!!! If I could predict the weather, I sure would not be working here!! Well, maybe I would. Anyway the sun came out and things are nice now. The Kwanias are starting to come in now, and the Mayors outing is winding down. It was good day all around. Hopefully the rest of the week will be the same. Hope you can get out soon. Don't forget this Sunday is a club "schramble". Hope you can participate. See ya!!! Have a great day!!!

FIRECRACKER FIZZLED FOR DEB
We got the Firecracker open in, even though it threatened to rain on us all morning. It was kind of gray all day!!! Just a few sprinkles. But we had fun!! I couldn't manage to pull out a win. Ben and I played well together, but when you bogey the last three holes, its hard to place. Yes, the last three holes. We had a great drive on #17 but our second shots stunk!!! And don't even asked about #18 and #16. I had shots right over the pins, but they were long. I am starting to not like #16. I think I know a couple of other members who agree with me!!! Oh well, such is life. On to bigger things. The weekend looks great. Next week is the Mayors outing. Then we have a few more outings after that. Enough to keep me busy. But I think I can find some way to find trouble, what do you think? Hope you can stop by soon. Swing some clubs, and lift some beers. Have a great day!

SUPER SUNNY SUNDAY MORNING!
Another great morning! Life is good. I have been here since 5:30 am enjoying the peace, and closing out the books for the month. Now it's time to start getting ready for the 5-5-5, then we have to draw the starting times for the Firecracker Open. After that I'm going out to golf and work on my game. I have a good partner for the Firecracker. I hope I don't let you down Ben. Maybe I can get my picture on the door of winners!!! Although I might break the camera! Ha! Ok, back to work! Have a great week everyone!! See ya soon!!!

ANOTHER ACE!!!!!
Do you believe it?! Two club event's in a row with a hole in one. John Zupanc aced the # 1 hole in the Scramble Saturday. He didn't even see it, after he hit he thought, ok that's close and walked away. He drove down there and asked, where did my ball go? He didn't believe anyone until he looked in the hole. 50 years of golf and that was his first ace. Congratulations John!!! You gotta put your buck back in the hole-in-one insurance everyone! Another good day! Things are calming down here. I have the lady elks here this morning. They use the pavilion, so all we have to do is check them in and get them started. The next event is the Firecracker open, July 4th. I better get some practice in!!! To much work, not enough golf. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah I know, you always see me golfing. It seems that way Huh? June as been great weather wise. I hope it stays this way through July, August, September, October, November ect.... It's happened before!! Ok, It's official, I am changing my name to HEY DEB. It's not "excuse me deb" or "debbie may I", it's Hey deb!!! I don't mind, but some days , Ahhhh!!!! Ok, back to work, the Elks are a howlin ,or whatever they do. See you soon!!!

SO FAR, SO GOOD!

It's a nice morning again. I have my league this morning, then back to work. The Ted Kruse Memorial was Saturday. It was a great day! The weather was perfect. Everything went off without a hitch. Jeff and Bonnie Longo, along with Ron and Margie Kruse had everything organized beautifully as usual. Lot's of good food, good beer, good prizes. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Ted was smiling down on us again. Guess who won the closest to the pin on #1? (the booze basket hole) I almost aced it! That would have been a expensive day. Thanks Ron, Jeff, Bonnie and Margie for a great outing! Tomorrow is the Richfield Chamber of Commerce, Friday is the Brecksville alumni, Saturday Club Scramble, Sunday Lady Elks. That should be enough to keep me busy and out of trouble. You think?! Ha! It looks like the weather is going to cooperate for a while. Hope you can get out and enjoy! We are going to draw teams for the Saturday scramble on Thursday the 21st at 6:00pm as usual. Hope you can play! Call the club house to sign up, or come on in on Thursday to sign up, watch the draw and have a drink. Hope to see you soon!

SUNNY SENIOR OPEN
How long can this go on?! This is great weather. Can it last until January? Wishful thinking. Just enjoy now Deb. The Senior open is out and playing, so I'm sitting outside writing and waiting for them to come in. The new outing we had Sunday went off without a hitch. 152 golfers with a shotgun start presented a challenge for me. But I knew with our staff we could pull it off. Jeff and his crew got everyone parked and to their golf carts. Linda and B.P. ran the kitchen with their usual efficiency. A couple of members stayed and volunteered to help make sure the golfers knew where to go and answer any questions. Thanks Wally, thanks John. We heard nothing but praise about the course, the food, and the staff. And they already booked for next year! Yeah!! These outings are essential for the club. Not only do they generate revenue, they expose the club to potential members. This and your continued support is what will make St. Bernard G.C. thrive and get better each year. For this I am truly grateful. Hope you all can get out and play soon! Have a great day everyone!

IN LIFE, A LITTLE RAIN MUST FALL
But my word, not all at once! The poor Friday night couples got it again!
And of course last night was BBQ chicken. Poor John had to stand in the rain again grilling breast's. The rain really greened up the place, looks good. The weekend looks great!! We have a huge outing Sunday. 152 golfers Yeah!!!! Noon shotgun. We are going to be busy! I think I have all my duck's in a row. I Hope! But I always have Linda, B.P. and Jeff to cover my butt! I am blessed with a great staff!
Not much else to report for now. Back to work. I'll let you know how Sunday went. If I survive!!! Have a great weekend everyone.

LUCKED OUT AGAIN!!!
Wow! I can't believe we got the tournament in! It sure didn't look good Sunday morning. But I did my rain go away dance and the skies cleared. You would clear out too if you saw me dance! Ha! The 6th annual National Car Mart ,PA John, Poje, Pniewski B-Day Bash was a success. We had a great turn out, 19 teams. Everyone showed, no cancellations. Marlene said P.A. kept going from the Cavs Game, to the weather station Saturday night. Welcome to my world P.A. But things turn out great. Good Golf, Good Prizes, Good friends, we even had B-Day cake. How about them Cavs!? I'm still not jumping on that band wagon, but this is great for the city. It seems to put everyone in a good mood, and we can all use that. Well it's 5:30 am, and I have to get to work. Just running in to do some paper work, them I'm off to play Pine Hills in my traveling league. Have a great day everyone!!

MAGNIFICENT MEMORIAL MONDAY MORNING!

What a beautiful morning!! What do you think? It doesn't get any better than this. It's 9:00 am, the sun is shining, and the parking lot is almost full! We got 21 for the 5-5-5 this morning, and the "old guys" are starting to roll in. I'm sitting on the porch writing this post, and watching everyone tee off. Life is good! My Friend Laurie is coming up from Columbus this afternoon to golf. She thinks she is going to win some Fike dollars, but I don't give those up easily. She even bought new clubs. It's going to take more than that girlfriend!!!! Ha!
It is easy to forget what the holiday is supposed to represent when you get three day weekends. For me, it is about hopefully filling the course. But that is just business. I have always been an all American mama, since my teenage years(alot of years ago), just ask anyone who has known me for that long. I have preached "Buy American" for years. And also to never forget how fortunate we are to live in this this great country. And for this I thank and support our Veterans and current American troops.
I hope you feel the same. So I hope you all have great food, great golf, great times with your family and friends this weekend, and take a moment to reflect on what this holiday weekend is about. Go team USA!
Enjoy!

FREAKY FRIDAY!?
We needed rain, but that was crazy! I went out to golf three times, and each time I had to high tail it back in. The last try I was at the farthest part of the course(#5) of course, when I heard thunder, so I came back in. And then all heck broke loose. It came down in buckets and we even had hail! What is that all about? B.P. and Linda just came in off of #18 and missed it, but poor Steve, Larry, Rios and Phil were stuck back by #15. Walking of course! Then it looked like we were in some kind of spooky movie. A heavy fog lingered for a long time, it was strange, but also quite relaxing. It would have to be steak night for the Friday night couples. Poor John Zupanc standing out there trying to cook 45 steaks on the grill dodging lighting bolts! Oy! What a way to start a holiday weekend! The weather forecast is for isolated T-storms, just so long as they don't isolate over Richfield. Do you think the greens will hold today? No roll though, I guess I will have to swing a little harder today. Look out!!!
Oh Great!! Just now I heard a bang on the window and looked out to see a bird ran into the window and it's dead on the ground!! Gross! I hope that is not a omen!? Jeff!!!!!!!! Clean up on isle 19!
Well, I smell bacon, B.P. must be here. Hope you all have a great memorial day. Don't picnic to much. Squeeze in some golf!! See ya!

PEACEFUL SUNDAY MORNING

All is quite on the home front.(shhhhh!) Just sitting here enjoying the peace and quite for the moment. The 5-5-5 will be rolling in soon, and things will be hopping. Saturday was kind of slow!? I guess the weather was a threat, but it was pleasant. Those weather people on the weather channel are so negative. Don't listen, just turn them off and look out the window! I was productive yesterday and hauled about 2 yards of mulch here. Check out #12 flower bed, it looks fabulous!! I think I used too much of the mulch though, I put it down kind of thick. Sorry Jeff. I hope we have enough left to finish the other beds.(oops) I think the course looks great. What do you think? Jeff is doing a wonderful job as usual.
Now we need to get some golfers out here to enjoy it! I'm racking my brain on how to increase membership, and play. Even though we have had an increase in new membership, we also have lost a few older memberships. I guess this is normal. I'm open to suggestions.
Well, I think B.P. just walked in, the smell of bacon should be hovering soon. Just when he thinks he has enough made, he turns around and some how the pile gets smaller!? I can't figure it out!(yum!) Maybe I'll have some of the left over meatloaf from Friday night couples. (Linda makes a killer meatloaf!!!) Then I'm off to golf. Have a great Sunday! Hope you can squeeze in some golf.

ROCK'IN RIB ROAST

A little chilly this morning. But the sun's out and it looks like it should be a good day. The "Schramble"/Rib Roast/Reverse raffle went well. Linda did a great job on the ribs(as usual), B.P. and Donna made sure everything went off without a hitch. The tournament was a little chilly and we got rained on for a couple of holes. Don't know where that came from? My Accuweather showed nothing about rain!? Wrong again!!
But everyone kept going and it warmed up as the day went on. Had a little excitement half way through, Jim Kane ACED the #1 hole. With this format that resulted in all four player's laying one, and for one player with two strokes a minus one! This took some thinking for the score keeper, but he figured it out. Thank you to Maria for helping me with the Reverse Raffle. She sold tickets and pulled the numbers for me. So for those of you who did not win, BLAME HER! On to the next event.

P.A. John-Poje-Pniewski National Car Mart B-day Bash. Sunday June 3rd. Check it out when you come in. This is a very popular event.
OK, I'm hungry now. I think I'll have some ribs for breakfast, since I never got a chance to try them yesterday.(forgot to eat again!) Looks like we are going to have a good stretch of weather here, so get your behinds out here! See ya!

SUNNY HUMP DAY!

Another perfect morning! The sun is out and we are supposed to get to 80 today. I thought we would never get there. Yesterday was nice also. I played in my morning league for the first time this year. I had the front nine from hell, but managed to pull it together on the back. But the company was good(thanks Jan, thanks Carol) and the walk was good.
Then I managed to haul some mulch at my house. I need a landscaper!!
I called my friend Jody in Hawaii to wish her a happy birthday, only to find out she had to put one of her dog's down. So sad. Maka was having a hard time back in February when I went to visit. I knew it was coming, but it still hurts. Jody and Dave got to say goodbye in the most wonderful way. The vet came to their house, and they let Maka go in the back yard with the sunset, ocean breeze, and them by his side. He has gone to meet Michelob up in doggie heaven. I find great comfort in this. For any of you who have had to go through this awful experience, you know. Ron Hickle gave me a wonderful book to read called Marley and me. I highly recommend it. Well, it's time to get back to work. Have to get everything ready for the Rib Roast Saturday. Enjoy this great weather. Hope to see you soon.

LOOKING GOOD!!
So far so good for May. What a nice week. As Dave Petrie would say "nice job on the weather Deb!" Looks like the weekend should be nice also. Hope you all can come out and get a round in. Save the yard work for the evening hours. It's cooler then. I had every intention of doing my yard work Thursday(my day off) but fate had other intentions for me. I had to come in here and set up the new pro shop cash register(what a job), but I got it done. So I started home, and my blazer breaks down. So I'm driving around in the Pickup truck. Truck'n Mama! oy! Everyday is a adventure around here. Thing's are looking up though. We have gotten a lot of new members. I have had a good response to the "sponser a new member" incentive. Now we just have to get them to participate in some of the club events, leagues ect... Have any ideas? Let me know.
Ok, back to work. (then maybe some golf). Have a great weekend.

SUNNY SUNDAY MORNING!!!
It's back!! The sun that is. What a great morning! Why didn't I schedule the International for today? You would think I could predict the weather by now! We got the tournament in among the rain drops. It sort of spit on us all day. But we pushed on and had a good day. I even managed to come in on a winning team. (fix!) Yeah right. We had a little NFL draft day contest. Pick the positions of the first four draft picks for the Browns. I have to get the paper and see what happened and find the winner. I couldn't watch that all day. Cheeseburger, fries, draft beer for $5.00. All draft beer $1.00 What a deal! Hope everyone enjoyed. The Rib Roast is next. Got to get to work on that. The 5-5-5 is starting to roll in, I have to get to work for a little while(then some golf) Life is rough!! Hope to see you soon.

THERE GOES THE SUN!

It was nice while it lasted. Now I'm sitting here watching it rain, listening to PA ask every five minutes, Deb what's the radar say. I keep telling him it don't say S*&%!!!!!! Wally is working on Bob's computer and trying to teach him how to use the darn thing. Cal's here also, hanging out and mumbling something or another. I think I need a Michelob!!!! We have the International coming up Saturday. Hopefully the weather will turn around. If it doesn't I think I'll need a bunch of Michelob's!! Have a nice day!!!

HERE COMES THE SUN!!!!

Finally, the sun has made it's way to Richfield! About time! Come on out and see for yourself. The 5-5-5 has started officially, the Ladies leagues luncheons are this coming week, along with the Friday night couples spring dance. The Old Guy's have been playing all along, and are ready to golf in some warm weather. The leagues will start the week after that.
Linda and I are going to be busier than a one armed paper hanger!
(not complaining, just stating) The rest of the staff will be back soon.
Linda,B.P., Donna, Darlene, Alex, Tracey are looking forward to coming back and serving you. That also means I can get out more and work on my game. My friend Laurie Johnson came up from Columbus Friday to play. She thought she was going to get a couple of Fike dollars, but I managed to keep them in my pocket. (Sorry girl friend, maybe next time). I hope to get out Sunday and enjoy some of this sunshine. Chances are pretty good! Don't let this weekend go by without getting some golf in!!! Winter will be here before you know it!! (Oops, sorry about that!)
See you soon!

Good deal at the Quaker!
The Golf show at Quaker Steak & Lube was a success. A good number of people attended, and stopped by our booth to chat and inquire about membership. The wings were great, the beer was cold, and the D.J. rocked. A couple of member's stop by to say hello, and to let passer's by know how much they enjoy St. Bernard G.C. (Thanks Ken, Thanks John).
I brought my camera, but forgot to take pictures. Go figure.
The last couple of day's have been busy here. The old heating A/C unit has been removed, the roof has been fixed, and they are back today to start installing the new unit. (Hambone is like a proud Papa!) Now all I need are some golfers to heat and cool. Come on out and hit a few balls. The weather is looking better this week. It's time to get back in the swing of things! See you soon!

GLOBAL WARMING MY BUTT!!!
Is the sun ever going to shine? What do you think? The course is in such good shape, but only a few people have been playing. Don't believe the weather people! We have had good days here, when they were calling for rain all day. Come on out!
My next venture is this coming Monday, April 16th. For the second year Quaker Steak and lube on canal road in valley view is hosting a golf show. WKNR is sponsoring it, and will be broadcasting live from the show.
Different golf course's set up booths to promote their course. I went last year with Wally and we had a blast. I get a booth, a bucket of chicken wings, and free beer. What else could I ask for? (don't answer that!) They raffle off prizes through out the show for the people who attend. Golf gift certificates, golf balls, and whatever else gets donated. It is from 6pm to 9 pm. Stop by and say hello if you get a chance.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Do you believe this? I go to Stanc's for a couple of michelob's go home and to bed and wake up to this!!!! I guess I should cancel getting the roof fixed today. Golfing in 80 degree weather on Tuesday, and shoveling snow on Friday. Only in Cleveland! or Buffalo!(hope you get through to Cleve safely K.K.) I wonder what it would take to get the grounds crew for the Tribe to come over here and remove the snow?
If they can play ball today, why can't we golf ? We should be sitting in the clubhouse having cocktails and watching Tiger win the Master's! (or Phil)
Post your opinion!! Have a happy Easter everyone, enjoy the Master's, and think warm thoughts! Blog me!

CHILI OPEN NOT SO CHILLY
Hi everyone. Well we got the Chili open in on Sunday. I did my no rain dance, and held the rain back. The temp was a little warm for a Chili open, but I don't think anyone minded. The sun came out in the afternoon, which prompted PA John to start a bud open. 16 played.
We had 32 for the Chili Scramble. We had 6 entries for the chili contest.
Thank's to everyone who made chili. Jeff Krikwood was trying to defend his title this year, but missed by one vote. Sorry Jeff. PA John got first place chili(even though Marlene cooked it)chili #4, and Second place chili went to Don Foutz chili #3. I hope everyone had a good time!
Today and Tuesday look great for golf, but by Wed it looks like everything hit's the fan!! Oh well, April in Cleveland! Have a great day everyone!!

Spring has Sprung!!!

Good afternoon. The weather is starting to break (finally!)and we are here cleaning up the course getting ready for a great new season at
St. Bernard G.C.. We have had numerous malfunctions in the club house all winter, but one by one we are getting them fixed. I had the good fortune to take a vacation this winter. I was able to go to Hawaii and visit and stay with my friend Jody. I went with my good friend Andrea and had a girls vacation. We had a blast!!! The only bad part was I did not get to golf. Oh well. I will be getting out here soon and try to get to cob webs off my game. Jeff is out working hard (as usual) getting the course in shape. The first event is coming up Sunday April 1st. The Chili Open. Hope you all can play!!! Linda will be making her famous chili, and members are bringing in their favorite chili recipes for everyone to sample and judge the best.
Hope to see you soon!!!!
