HO HO HO.......

Have you been naughty or nice? Hopefully a little of both, the combination is essential for keeping ones sanity. At least that's what I've been told......I'll work on both. Oy!
That's Kona above.... you don't want a lump of his coal in your stocking, so you better be good....Yikes!
We're still snowed in here, the white stuff starting falling a couple of weeks ago and just won't stop!? We had a delivery the other day, the driver looked out the window and said "Oh, what a beautiful view"... I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder!? Call me crazy (shut up!), but I prefer the course to be Green, not White!! Oh well, I guess I need to take Jeff, Josh and Jake's attitude.....It's not going away, enjoy it. Haven't seen much of the boys lately.....they are hurrying to get all the equipment maintained and put to bed for the winter. Just like a couple of Santa's elves. Yikes...I just got a visual of Jeff with green pointy toe slippers with bells on the end, and a green pointed hat! (sorry Jeff!) Keep up the good work guys.

Many members have stopped in to renew their memberships, say hello and bring warm holiday greetings. It's always nice to have some company this time of year. Soon many will be off to Florida or other points south and west to escape the winter chill. Some are already there.
Hey Joe Tee and Jan..... Glad you made it safe. I think our distinguished grill master mister Z and his wife Ann leave shortly, and a couple of the "Prime Timers" are headed for Arizona. Safe trip for all. See you in the spring. Bring back some sun!
I'm still doing paper work and putting off starting the annual scrubbing down of the kitchen. This of course entails that I must make my winter fashion statement of Jeans, old T-shirts and long yellow evening gloves with the designer name of "Playtex"! I'm a such a trend setter. Oy! I don't think Ralph Lauren will be calling on me anytime soon.

Not much else happening around here. I shall wait for the mail, clean up a bit and head out to get some holiday preparations done. Maybe make a couple of stops and partake in some holiday cheer.....Golfmama's sleigh is full of goodies that need delivered.

Make sure you have hung your stockings with care, with hopes that St. "Nicklaus" will soon be there........Ha!....I crack myself up. (Sorry)
But really, Merry Christmas Everyone. Hope Santa is good to you.

How may days until the Chili Open?!

Wake up call!

Nothing like easing your way into winter....Yikes! It was like Mother Nature was sleeping all of November and suddenly woke up and said "Oops, time to play catch up." and that she did.
What a Monday...Jeff was on short trip last week and came back to this!? I blame him for this.....and guess what?... He's loving it....? and so is Josh, and Jake is running around like it's raining American cheese and steak... What is wrong with my guys? Oh well, what ever makes them happy.
Speaking of them, they just walked in smiling from ear to ear, Coffee break. Jeff just said we will be golfing in a couple of weeks. I asked him if I could quote him on that, no response.
You never know..... Jakes running in circles, we're drinking coffee and laughing, just a normal day at St. Bernard G.C. in the winter.
Onward!
I'm stuffing envelopes and shuffling papers waiting for the call to go pick up the
"Bat Mobile" (as some my friends call it) not sure if there is any hidden affront in that?! Hmmm
I hope they call soon so I can get back here and get some work done. The Holidays are coming up fast, and I have plenty to get done here and at home, as I'm sure you all do too.....
Besides that, the snow has let up here and I can see the pavement on 303, unlike the ride home yesterday and the ride in today. Oy! It normally would not bother me, but not in a 2011 borrowed Cadillac, "get out of my way, I'm not used to this car!!" (Such Drama!)

That's all I got for now..... Will post again soon when I have more to tell.
Stay warm, drive slow and think Spring!
GO BROWNS......
"Sweet" Bowl game for OSU! OH....IO!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

What a difference a day makes....from Sunny and 50 to Cloudy and 40. And I still can't figure out these golfers....Yesterday was dead and today I have 8 guys out there!? (one of which is dad) Oy! Oh well, go figure. I think the next few days are going to be on the chilly side (you think Deb?!) But who knows....after that, I think were still going to get some pre Holiday golf in.
And if not, we can still get some pre Holiday cocktails in.....19th hole is open! Think positive!

Hope you Enjoy your family and friends this Thanksgiving....be thankful for all of them, and what you have accomplished throughout the year. I know I'm thankful for yet another year here at
the best little golf club in the world!! Thanks to all of you who have participated!
(was that too mushy?) Oh well......I mean it. See ya soon.

Nice November......

What a great way to start the "off" season....A whole week of sunshine and mild temperatures.
Plenty of golfers have been out to take advantage...... lot's of par's and birdies still out there to be had. I'm sitting on the porch posting this morning watching the 5-5-5 start to turn. Bob, Bill and Jim are just starting out, and Paul and Gary are just about done. Man they move fast......
I guess they want to get done so they can watch the Buckeyes beat Penn State. OH......IO!

The course really does look great. Kudos to Jeff and Josh for their efforts keeping up on the annual leaf patrol. Not too many golf balls lost out there......I think!? They also deserve praise for how effectively they managed the aerification of the greens this year. They were able to get the job done without too much inconvenience for the players. Keep up the good work guys....
You Rock!

It's that time of year for me to start my annual slew of paperwork.....memberships coming in, scheduling next years events, getting contacts for the leagues and booking outings.
How many days until the Chili Open? Oy!

The Buffalonians are in for the weekend......Marc, Kim and of course Uncle Mahoney made their quarterly passage across I 90 to spent a couple of days at hotel Fike. Marc will get in some golf, while Kim will putz around in my flower beds and clean them up for me. Your the bomb Kimmer! (now if I could just get her out here to help me). Jake and Uncle Mahoney are not sure about each other....but they seem to have found a mutual agreement that they are BOTH looking out for my best interests.....Mahoney- "don't mess with my Cleveland Mom!"
Jake - "don't mess with the chick that feeds me steak and cheese". Could be trouble......Yikes!
I finally get two guys to fight over me and they turn out to be dogs! LOL....

Not much else happening right now....
I think I'll go in and see what Judi can scrounge up for me to eat.....not much left here, but she is always able to come up with something good to eat. Double bogey?, Triple bogey?...
Rock on Judi!! Hang in there baby......
GO BUCKEYES!

Trick or Treat.....

How was every one's Halloween? Did you have many goblins and ghouls begging for treats?
I thought about giving out golf balls here, but decided I would rather not clean up eggs and toilet paper for the next couple of days......oy! No actually, I managed to sneak out of here Saturday afternoon and attend/help a good friendwith a Halloween party. My life long friend Angie hosted her annual Costume party at her tavern called Mad Mikes in Garfield Heights. My other life long friend Andrea and I went Saturday early and helped set up, party, then stayed the night.
What a blast!!!! I really needed a girls night out....and I got it. As I'm sure you figured out by now, the above photo is of the three of us. Andrea (the Christmas story leg lamp) was my travel companion when I went to Hawaii this year, and Angie (sexy Vampire lady) grew up next door to me, and of course me(golfer, go figure). I know, I know....that's the best I could come up with.
Thank you Therese and Judi for making it happen for me.....you are both the bomb!

Well it's that time of year now......time to poke holes in the greens. Yep, Jeff and Josh started the aerification. We got a late start because of me... I pushed them back because of some outings we had booked, and of course the weather did not cooperate. Sorry guys! Jeff was positive that everything would be fine....but then (again) of course something had to break......the aerator is not working correctly! Those poor guys....but Jeff just came in now and said they got it working.
Hang in there guys, your doing great!
Onward.............

We have a couple more days of promising weather coming up. Hope you can get out and take advantage of them. I have a few guys out now getting in their last Monday night round before the time change next week. Yep, next Monday it will be dark by 5:00pm. Too scary!!!
But let's think positive......el nino, la nina, la something....here's to a mild winter!!!

Not much else to report right now, so I am off in search of a Michelob. Talk with you soon.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Hanging on.....

Mother nature has granted us a few more golfer friendly days. What a woman!!!
Now if she can just hold back the "s" word until February of so, we'll be in good shape.
A girl can dream you know.....
The Pig Roast went well....Golf, lots of food and libations consumed and raffles were won. All in all a good day. Thank you to all who participated. Thank you again to Karen Bratz for helping me with the raffle (she's the bomb), and a big Thanks to my Uncle Harry and Tommy for roasting the hog. They should have their own show on the food network....cook a little...beer...cook a little....beer. Could be a big hit huh?! I've seen worse!!

Well....now it's time to sit down and start thinking about next year. Oy! No rest for the wicked..(and I guess I fall into that category) well......maybe some times.
Jeff, Josh and I were talking the other day, throwing around some ideas, and we thought......
We have the Chili OPEN, why not have a Chili CLOSER? Maybe a scramble sometime after the pig roast? Maybe a Spaghetti cook off...(an idea of Bob Ross' for years) or maybe golf and have a pot luck after......what do we think? Could be the start of a new tradition here at St. B.
Like the Firecracker, Kramer, and of course Jeff's Annual NFL bash....just to name a few.
Let me know your thoughts.

Not much happening here right now. I have a few guys out seeking out some pars and birdies before the sun sets...and the wind starts to blow down more leaves. Yikes......yep.... it's that time of year when Jeff and the crew start their annual chasing of the leaves game. Just when they get a handle on it....bamm....the wind changes. Everything they just moved to the west, gets blown back to the east. Maybe we should try North to South?! Oy! Hang in there guys, your doing great!

As for myself, I have my duties to attend to, one of which being the annual cleaning out of the refrigerator and freezers here. Can I say Yikes?!!!! What to do with what is left!? Plenty of things can be froze for use on the occasional winter day that allows us to squeeze in a round and I can whip up some grub. But others can not. So Jeff and Josh suggested I make a big pot of Chili. Chili it is.........I managed to pull a make shift chili out of what we had here, and used them as my taste testers. They said it was great! Then I decided to make them a Strata, and use up some of the eggs cheese milk and bacon left.....again they loved it. (I see a pattern here) They work so hard I think anything tastes good to them. Oh well... as long as their happy, I'm happy. I made them a deal...... they eat up all the left over food, and I will work on getting rid of the left over beer! LOL!

Ok, tomorrow is another day. Time for me to start the clean up here, lock up and head home.
What to do for dinner?.....maybe Strata?
Have a great evening, See you soon.

Last Club Event.....

This is it.....the last event of the 2010 season. The Pig Roast/Scramble is this Saturday the 16th.
Where did the season go? It seems like I was just posting the Chili Open winners on this blog, and now I'm preparing for the Pig Roast!? Oh well, deal with it Deb!

I would like to take a moment and thank all of you for your continued support of
St. Bernard Golf Club and its events. These events are held for your enjoyment and a great way for you to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow members. Also a big thank you to, Wally for his help with the weekend events, Ralph for his help with the Senior Opens, Judy White for helping and promoting ANYTHING to do with St. B.....(you rock girl!) , John Z for his grilling expertise (his wife Ann for her patience waiting to eat with her husband while he feeds everyone else) all the leagues, Prime Timers, Monday Night Teezers, Tee Timers, Tuesday Men's League (Joe Tee your the best!), Bath/Richfield Kiwanis, Casual Tees, Longo and Friends, Friday night Couples and the 5-5-5. You're all the Bomb!

Of course none of this would be possible without the hard work and total dedication of the Staff........I mean Family....of St. Bernard. Dad and I have been blessed with some of the hardest working people in any business. I think of us as family.....but you know how families are sometimes...yikes! Sometimes we get on each others nerves, but I think at the end of the day it's all good.
I've said it often, and will continue too....Jeff is the Bomb! Himself and his crew work their butts off to keep this course in the best conditions despite difficult weather, a limited budget, and a crazy woman G.M.!!! again Yikes!
Keep up the good work Jeff, Josh, Don, Bob, Matt, Ed, Dave
and of course JAKE! (cheese please tall lady?)
Thanks to the girls for keeping every one's tummies full with good food, and great libations. Linda, Therese, Judi, Sarah and Angie keep the Clubhouse rock'in. Rock on girls!!

Was that too sappy?........Oh well.......I truly believe it!
Anyway... I will post the results of the Pig Roast, and continue to keep you posted on what's happening here all year long. Have a great weekend and don't put those clubs away......plenty of good weather around the corner. Stay healthy!!! See ya soon.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Don't put those clubs away yet....

we're still due an Indian Summer. Even though the last couple of days have been a reality check, I still believe we have plenty of nice days ahead. We still have a few club events left on the schedule, starting with the Clambake, then the Pig Roast and we still have one more Senior Open scheduled. Plenty of fun left......

Lot's of work left too..... the leagues are hosting their end of the year banquets over the the next couple of weeks. Meals are being planned, decorating needs to be done, and plenty of libations need to be consumed....oy! Sounds like a job for Golfmama!
The Monday night teezers had their banquet last night. I think they had a good time.
The committee choose a nice meal, and the prizes and decor were first class.
Way too go girls.....You Rock! Thank you Linda and Sarah for taking good care of our Ladies.

Next up are the Casual Tees (thursday), Tee Timers (tuesday) and the Friday Night Couples...
Thank you all for your continued support. You're all a huge factor in what makes this Club Rock!! (and I say "Rock On")

Jeff, Josh, Dad and I had a nice Pow wow today watching it rain....Oy! Plenty of projects on the agenda...Jeff and Josh have great ideas on some improvements that can be made, along with creative ideas on how to fix some problem areas that need attention. Together I think we can find the means and resources to get these projects done over the winter. Rest assured we will give it all we got......(hopefully without damaging ourselves) Yikes!
Jake will be here all year chasing the geese away (and maybe a squirrel or two up a tree) and I will keep his tummy full with steak and cheese.....nothing but the best for our guy!

On that note....I think I'm going home and figure out what to put in my tummy. Not much happening here. Looks like the rain will continue and the course is a little wet. Tomorrow is another day......Have a good evening!

See you in September....

Oh, it is September.... My favorite Month. Football, great weather, leaves turning....and of course, great golf conditions. What more can girl ask for?!
Sort of a busy Sunday morning here. The 5-5-5 are here as usual, Ken and Gary started early as usual, and we have some guys trying the course. (hope they like it) What's not to like?
Josh is busy cleaning up the patio, Judi is busy cleaning up the Kitchen, Jake is out barking at cats.......not sure where Jeff is?.....and I'm sitting here Blogging. All is right in Richfield.

We had the 2nd Round of the Club Championship yesterday. A good day.
Dave Stanfield came out on top for the Men's Division, John Zupanc took Low net for Men
and Diane Schuster grabbed low net for the Women's division. And in the end, I triumphed over my friend Lori and won the Women's Low Gross. (sorry girlfriend, I just can't let you beat me!)
Although I must say we both had bad rounds yesterday....mine was just not as bad as hers.....Oy!
Oh well....a good time was had. Thanks to all who participated.

I'm looking forward to the Browns season opener today.....again...I LOVE this time of year.
A little golf, a little beer, and football. Tis the season.
How about those Buckeyes?! Great "D" and a good Offense equal a winning score. Should be a great season for OSU. Now if the Browns can do the same, it might make the winter around here a little more tolerable. (Yikes.......don't say winter Deb!) sorry.

ello......dank you for kalling us bank, my name is peggy, ow can I elp you ?
(I'm going to duck tape Judis mouth!!!!!) I"ll be repeating that all day now...
or singing some sort of stupid song..... yikes!
On that note......I'm off to fix the garbage disposal that she broke! Oy! What next?
Have a great Sunday.....see you soon.

NFL Bash Hits Home Run.......

or do I mean touchdown? Either way, it was a GREAT day yesterday. Everything fell into place for Jeff's 3rd Annual NFL Bash. Perfect weather, a large turn out and lots of food, beer, pop and water made for a good day all around. Everyone seemed happy (check out the slide show to the right, click on it to enlarge) even Jake was smiling the whole time. Of course what's not for him to smile about? Steak was flying off plates all through the clubhouse.....GOOOOOOD DOG!
Better start chasing those geese and work some of that off! Jake rocks!
So do Jeff and Josh...... they put so much effort and attention to detail into the event, it really showed. I am so proud of both of you!....and your crew. Keep up the good work.
Linda, Therese and Mony took care of everything in the clubhouse with their usual efficiency.
This allowed me to go out and golf without worrying if everything was going smooth.
Thanks Girls.....Love you all!
Of course this didn't guarantee my game would be any better.....Oy! Oh well, maybe next time.

Ok...Judi has found a cheerleader mega phone left over from yesterday and chanting cheers....
two- four- six -eight.....who do we appreciated? Judi! Judi! Judi!
Jeff, Josh and Matt are in tears......Me too!!!!
I think we are all so tired that were getting slap happy.
I know I could use a nap. But, not in the cards for now.

Looks like another good weather day. Hope this brings out some more golfers.
Only 8 of the 5-5-5 this morning?! Whats up with that? Guess we wore them out yesterday.
Oh well. Whats a girl to do? GET TO WORK!!! That's what.
See ya soon...........

Ben Kramer Memorial

We managed to get the two day tournament in this weekend without any rain.
Yee.... and might I add, Haw........! The forecast called for thunderstorms on Sunday, but once again the forecasters were wrong. Just enough to help along my ulcer....Oy!
The competition, the rain Saturday afternoon, and the hot weather all combined, made for some tough playing conditions. But in the end the strongest teams prevailed.... Congratulations!!!
See photos on the right for the Winners.
Also congratulations to all who participated. We had some good teams out there and the sportsmanship shown through in true fashion. Thanks everyone!
Next up.........
Jeffs 3rd Annual Football bash. Saturday August 28th 9:00 am shotgun. Jeffs already like a kid on Christmas morning. He has lots of surprises for us......I can't wait to see what he comes up with this year!? again...Oy!
That's all I got for now.... I'll keep you updated on any happenings...Have a great week.

Full Moon??????

It just has to be....... Crazy morning around here. Busy, and that's good...but crazy!
14 of the 5-5-5, 28 of the Friday night couples and assorted other golfers are out enjoying this beautiful morning. All is good.

We hosted the C-town annual golf outing here yesterday. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I received many compliments on the Golf Course conditions. Our compliments go to all the participants. I was able to participate in the outing, and enjoyed a great afternoon of good friends, good weather, and of course.....Cold Beer.... Oy! It was a good day.
Thank you my girlfriend Jill......You Rock!
Thanks Joe Tee for all of your help!

Indeed Jeff, Josh, Augie, Grant, Matt, Don and Bobby have done a fabulous job keeping the course in great condition despite some exhausting weather conditions.
Rock on guys!!!!!

On to the next venue.......Ben Kramer Memorial August 14th and 15th. Always a good time this event. Two days of golf and fun. What more can a girl ask for? (don't answer that!) Ok...maybe answer that.

The 5-5-5 are coming in now and Judi can use my help. She has been singing stupid songs all morning trying to get them stuck in my head...... "whats new pussy cat? whoa whoa......" Oy!
Have a great rest of the Weekend.... See you soon

Rain Rain go away.........

Enough already! It's raining here again this morning!? Just what we need....I have an outing of 70 today. Musketeers will tee off at 10:00 am. I'm hoping for the best.....
The 5-5-5 are sitting in here waiting for the rain to stop.....and solving all the worlds problems while they wait. Oy! Please stop raining so they can start.......

On the upside, the PGA Bash went well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the fish and chips, Amber Bach Beer and the ButterSCOTCH cookies I made. I even had the winning team wear Kilts that I made. Check out the first place photo....they were good sports about it, and even got into the spirit of things. Thanks guys!

Ok, the rain has stopped (thank you!) and the 5-5-5 are out the door (thank You!)
After 20 minutes of debating on what they would play, they decided on a Ryder Cup..... Oy!
This has disaster written all over it.....I'm glad I'm not playing. Lots of work for Deb.
Judi is making me laugh.....Jeff, Augie and Jake are cleaning carts....Matt is mowing...all is right in Richfield.
Speaking of work.....time for me to get my butt in gear.
The weather looks great for the rest of the week. Hope you can get out and enjoy........
see you soon!

More great weather........

Mother nature has been good to us for the last few weeks. We've been able to get in the Club events and several outings with out sweating out rain and or thunderstorms. This saves me from any more worry lines on my face......On the other hand it gives Jeff a few of his own. The 90 degree humid weather presents Jeff and the crew with the great challenge of keeping the course from getting stressed out. This is not a easy task....Keep up the good fight Jeff....you're doing a great job.

We hosted the annual Mayor Hruby golf outing today, and the last of the players are rolling in.
Lot's of smiling faces....everyone seems happy. My compliments to all the participates.
We have a couple of more outings coming up over the weekend, and then the PGA bash and an outing on the weekend after that. Plenty of work for us over the next few weeks.
(thank goodness!) (keeps me out of trouble! OY!)

It's hard to believe that August is just around the corner.....before you know it we will be tuning in to see what our Cleveland Browns hold for us this year. again Oy! I really do love football season......although I can do without what follows the fall......
(shut up Deb! no "S" words...."plural") Sorry!

Aside from that.....I don't have much else to report. Just hanging in there, enjoying the weather, the golf, the camaraderie of the members and life in general. Hope you all can say the same.
Enjoy!!!!!!!! Talk with you soon.

Holiday Weekend.....

It looks to be a good one! Abundant sunshine and warm. Just right for picnics, B-B-Qs, fireworks and hopefully some golf.....and what ever else you have planned for your family and friends. Hope you enjoy all of the above. I will be here with our St. Bernard family enjoying the weather, the view and the company as always. Maybe even get a little golf in. (Go figure!)

I sure could use the practice....I'm in a little slump?????
I don't know what happened...but can I say YIKES!! Just in time for the Firecracker Open! OY!
I better play better tomorrow or Mike Mann is going to kill me and then probably break my beer cooler and refrigerator. HELP ME!!! Oh well, deal with it Deb.
On a brighter note....my friends Kim and Marc and uncle Mahoney came in from Buffalo to celebrate Independence Day with us! Always a good time....Lots of good food, golf, laughs and of course.... plenty of beer (again Go figure!) So that's pretty much my weekend.

Jeff, Josh, Jake and the crew have the course in mid season form......It looks great out there guys!!! Keep up the great work!
I know Jeff is already looking forward too his 3rd annual football bash in August, but we have a couple of other events before that..... starting with the Firecracker Open tomorrow, then the PGA bash, a Senior open and the Ben Kramer Memorial. Check out the Website for Dates.
Don't rush the summer Jeff!!! It will be fall before you know it!? again YIKES!
Alright......Therese is shoving eggs in my face...eat girl eat!! She treats me like a kid sometimes.
"OK mom, I'll clean my plate" What would I do without her?! Thanks girlfriend, your a good egg!

Hope you all enjoy your long weekend....eat, drink and be merry(and safe)
Enjoy your Independence!

Dodged the rain drops again!

We managed to get yet another tournament in between the rain drops this Sunday.....
Whoo Yhooo!!! I guess the golf gods were looking down on us once more. Thank you mother nature, all the members who participated, and all of the crew who worked so hard to get the course in such good shape despite the weather conditions. Always a challenge.....Jeff, Josh and all of the crew work hard to make the course the best it can be. You guys are the best!!!!!
Busy week ahead for all of us.....
Wednesday (tomorrow) we have the Richfield Chamber of Commerce outing, then Thursday is the Rally for the Cure outing (courtesy of the Casual Tees league) , Thank you Ladies.....
Then the Ted Kruse Memorial on Saturday. And then the Senior Open on the 23rd...
All we need now is for the weather to cooperate...Again....
I think I might have used up all of my weather prayers over the last couple of months, but I hope I still have a couple under my belt..... we shall see.
Aside from that, I got nothing....
Time for some rest now, long day's ahead. Hope you all have a good week...and look forward too seeing you on the links.......

Sunday Morning

What's with the wet, wild weekend weather? Poor Jake needs a life vest out there to chase the geese! He must be doggie paddling? Ha!! ...... Oy!
We had a small group out yesterday for Golf, then Burgers and Dogs at the pavilion. They got most of their golf in, but then the rains came in...It must have been hard to keep the B-B-Q lit...
but they had plenty of beer and they seemed to have a good time. Thanks Ray!

I wasn't sure if anyone would show this morning givin the threatening weather? I had to play dodge em on my way in.... Trees down, branch's sprew all around, garbage cans in the middle of the street.. it looked like a war zone! But...I made it through.
Nine of the 5-5-5 showed, along with Paul, Ken and Gary. Aside from that, Judi and I are in here eagerly waiting your presence. Come on Golfers!!! It's going to be a beautiful day!!
June in Cleveland...it don't get any better than this!? OY!
I need some customers in here so Judi can't run the vacuum (she can't seem to get the dirt up without somehow sucking up somebody's shoes) again OY!
Jeff and Josh are sitting here now trying to decide "whats for breakfast?"
This is Jeff's favorite time of day....and I think Josh's also. Eat up boys...Lots of debris out there that needs picked up. Every time they get the course just about perfect...BAM! The winds Kick in and deposit more debris! Yikes!! Hang in there guys, and keep up the good work!

It looks like the Prime Timers and the Monday night teezers are going to have a great day tomorrow. Seventies and Sunny. Enjoy your day Guys and Gals, you deserve it!
Hope the rest of you can get out and enjoy the week....looks like a good one.

Gotta run now.. Mike Mann is on the way to TRY to fix the beer cooler for me... (if one more thing breaks ....?&*%#)
Have a great rest of the weekend... Look forward to seeing you soon!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Day Off......

It's Thursday and I am taking the WHOLE day off. I leave the club in capable hands.
Dad, Linda, Therese, Jeff, Josh and Jake, and the rest of the crew have the place covered.
Thank you lord for all of them..... I need some rest before the big holiday weekend coming up. Jeff could use some rest himself..... Take a day off buddy!!!!! Despite the forces that are working against you, the course looks great!!! Keep up the good work.
The weather looks good for the whole weekend, and hopefully we will see plenty of golfers out over the holiday. Therese and Judi will be in for your breakfast needs, then Linda, Sarah Y. and Sarah A. will be here looking forward to seeing your smiling face's. Thank you girls....
Linda has the club house looking like a USO from days of war....all we need now are some sailors to kiss.....or maybe a marine or two... A girl can hope ya know! Oy! But seriously.....
Take some time over the weekend between your parades, B-B-Q's and family get together and salute the Men and Women of our armed forces who make this country safe.
Enjoy the sunshine....your friends and family.....and remember.... just like JELLO, there's always room for golf (at St. Bernard) of course!! Thanks for your support. See you soon!

Saturday, May 8, 2010

Hold on to your hats....

and your cans, your friends cans, and anything else that isn't nailed down.
What a windy couple of months!?
I'm getting tired of chasing down the patio chairs everyday. Mama......I don't think were in Kansas anymore!?
Speaking of Mamas.... Happy Mothers Day to all you Moms, and Mother types out there....
It looks like your day will be sunny and bright tomorrow. Hope you enjoy!

A couple of brave (or crazy) souls are out this morning. I don't know...it's nasty out there!
One of the crazies is my friend Marc from Buffalo. Him, Kim and Uncle Mahoney came in for the weekend for some sun and fun in Cleveland. Oy! Well, we got the fun part down anyway.

Therese is cooking breakfast for Jeff and Josh, and of course....Jake.
Not a easy task, those boys can eat!!!! But they earn it. They work hard, play hard, and eat hard....Keep up the good work guys...the course looks great! I'm very proud of all of you!!

Not much else happening here... Ooops, it's pouring out there now....Here come the crazies rolling in now.....Oy! This could be a long day......... Hope you have a good one. See you soon.

M.L.B. Bash Hits Home Run

More like a Grand Slam.... given the weather prediction. We didn't think we would get the round in. But the golf gods were smiling down on us again, and we pushed through a little rain and ended up finishing the round in the sun. After we got through the some what complicated scoring theme, we pigged out on hot dogs, peanuts and cracker jacks.....I don't care if we ever get back.....(Oy! don't sing Deb!) All in all, a good day.

Not so sure about today..... one report reads rain later today, one reads not at all? ( I sound like a broken record...that's all I do is watch the weather...) Occupational hazard I guess. Just like when I meet someone for the first time and they ask "do you golf?"

Judi is in the Kitchen cooking up the bacon, Jake's out chasing the geese (and lawn mower! crazy Dog!) Gary, Paul and Ken just walked in and the 5-5-5 are following.... Jeff and Josh are up to put in their breakfast order.....Just another typical Sunday at St. Bernard G.C.. Life is good..... Hope you can get out and enjoy. See you soon

Wacky Weather......

We go from winter to summer to spring to winter again!? Whats up with that? Turtleneck? Shorts? Jacket or not? I'm confused (so what else is new.....)
We had a few brave souls this morning. Paul, Ken and Gary got their 18 in, and a few of the
5-5-5 started out, but decided to quit after 5 holes. I don't blame them.
But we do have a small group out this afternoon. They were scheduled for 24 golfers, and 13 showed. A hardy bunch I would say. It actually started snowing here, and it's starting again.
OY! What a day!! Oh well..... deal with it Deb!
Therese is here keeping me company, and scrubbing down anything she can find to clean....
(go to my house girl). She's a good egg!!
Jeff's gone on home for some well deserved rest.
Rest up buddy, you earned it!! Plus its time to get ready for the M.L.B. Bash... it's next weekend already. Time flies when your having fun!!!
That's all I know for now.... Tomorrow is another day. Hopefully the sun will come out, and the course will be filled. A girl can hope you know...... Stay warm... and think green!!

Easter Morning...

It's a sunny one this morning...a bit cool, but sunny. I need my Easter bonnet, more like golf cap in my case. I'm on my own today. I gave the girls the holiday off. Oy! Golfmama cooking eggs!
I should just hard boil them all and hide them through the club house....but then what do I do with the bacon?! Yikes!
Anyway, the day looks to be a good one. I'm hoping some golfers will try and get a round in before they are off to their families for Easter ham. Or maybe come out and work off all that food with a walk on the links. We shall see......
Ok, here they come... couple of the 5-5-5 are rolling in. (hope their not hungry) Gotta go...
Hope you and your family have a good Easter.....
Don't eat too many bunny ears!! Talk with you soon.

CHILLY CHILI OPEN!!!!

It's a little frosty out there this morning... COME ON SUN! It's out, and hopefully it will work it's magic and we will tee off on time. The first event of the season is due to start at 10:00am.
Lot's of sign ups and I think a few others will be showing their smiling faces. All in search of Birdies and hot and spicy Chili.....
Therese is in the kitchen frying up the bacon and eggs..... Yummy....
Jeff, Josh and Jake just came up, clubs in tow...Team meeting... Hugs all around... Here's to a great season guys.....GO TEAM!!!
Time for work... I will add to this post later, along with photos.

I'm back... well I guess I picked the right weekend day for the Chili Open.
It's ugly out there this morning.... (kinda like me this morning) Oy!! Yesterday was a good day..... we had 47 golfer's for the scramble, and 7 chili entries. Not bad for a cold March day.
In the end it was Chili #6 that took first place. It was entered by Jerry Schuster, but I suspect it was Diane who made it?! Ooops, sorry Jerry!! 2nd place went to Herman for Chili #2, thanks Jim. And thank you all for the other entries, I think they were all good. (Back on the treadmill!)

The week ahead looks great weather wise. I can't wait to get out and golf without 3 layers of clothes on.... Time to start breaking out the spring/summer golf apparel.......Shorts!! OY!
(back on the treadmill!)
Anyway, on to the next event.... MLB Bash Sat. APRIL 24th. Jeff, Josh, Wally and I are thinking and planning and hopefully will come up with some surprises.
You never know what will come out of my brain....(what quarter is it?) No, that's Mama's line!

I'm off to relax a little now. Tomorrow is another day, and I have a meeting for the Monday Night Teezeers at the club Monday night... Time for the Ladies to rock! See you soon......

On a personal note: To my dear friend Hambone, for all that you have done for me and my family, and the St. Bernard G.C. family, I would like say Thank you. You have been a true inspiration, good friend and gentleman. You will always be part of our family, and we look forward to seeing your smiling "mean as ever" face at the club. I have plenty of projects that you can handle.... you and I can fix anything... Love you.... Deb

HERE WE GO.......

The season has begun.... Or so it seems. For how long who knows?! But today seemed like mid season form. Quite a few of the regulars have been out, along with some new faces. All with their happy go lucky St. Patty's day smiles looking for the birdies at the end of the rainbow!!
Sounds like few were found, but a good time was had by all. Go figure!

Jeff and Josh, along with Augie, Matt and Grant (and of course Jake) got a good head start on cleaning up the winter debris. The course looks great for such a early start. I think by the time the Chili Open rolls around we should be in good shape...... Now all we need is some good weather! JEFF.... That's your Job!!! Oy!

The last of the golfers are soaking up the setting sun as I sit on the porch and write this post...
and without sounding too corny, I am reminded of how lucky I (we) are to be here.

With that said...I think I should get my butt home and get some rest. Because tomorrow looks like a even better day, and the next few after that also. Hope you can get out and enjoy the March sunshine... Every day is a gift!! See you soon.....

ALOHA

I'm Back....... Who was in charge of getting rid of the snow while I was gone?!
Let's blame it on Jeff. (sorry Jeff)
Anyway, I had a wonderful trip... Lot's of laughs and a few moments of panic. Only I can plan a trip to one of the most beautiful places in the world and have a Tsunami hit... OY!
I was staying with my friends Jody and Dave who live in Ewa Beach, Oahu. Their house is on the ocean. I was awoke by Jody at 4:30 am Saturday and told we needed to pack and evacuate because a Tsunami is coming... WHAT! Get outta here and let me sleep you B!#$@!
Next thing I know, we are packing up the important stuff, gathering the three dogs, their stuff, the emergency kits, flash lights ,water ect... then Dave said "Fike, get some toilet paper" Oy, this is for real.... So we all got in the cars and headed up the mountain's. After eight hours of not knowing what was going happen, we got the all clear and headed back down the mountain and unpacked. Thank goodness it turned out not to be as bad as they predicted, for us and all the other Islands of Hawaii. What a experience!!! This snow looks pretty good to me right now, but this feeling will pass.

So now I'm here trying to get caught up on all the paper work left for me. I think I found the top of my desk. That's a start.
The weather forecast looks favorable for the next week. The snow might just melt enough for us to get a couple of rounds in..... Maybe St. Patricks day golf? What do you think? Sounds good to me!!! The Chili Open is right around the corner.... March 27th
Get your clubs out of storage, clean them up a bit, and start practicing that putting stroke....
Drive for show....putt for dough.....
Keep in touch.

St. Bernard Golf.......Ski Resort?

Enough already with the snow! This reminds of February 2007, Valentines day actually. Although I was watching the record setting snow fall in Cleveland on CNN while sipping a Michelob looking out at Diamond Head.....You know it's not good news when you see your home town on national news. Looks like I didn't get out of dodge in time this year. Oh well, soon I will be off on my vacation. A sure sign that the weather will turn nice and all will be well in Cleveland.
Murphy's law as they say.....

Meanwhile poor Jeff has done nothing but plow snow for the last couple of weeks. It wouldn't be so bad, but he has plenty of other projects on his list. Hang in there Jeff!! Keep up the good work! Josh and Jake are keeping busy also. Painting, cleaning ect..... Although Jake works for peanuts (I'm sure Josh would say he does too... HA!!) Thanks Josh, and Happy Birthday today!!

I'm still modeling the yellow rubber gloves, scrubbing down the clubhouse and kitchen.
Judy has been gracious enough to come in and help me out. Thanks girlfriend, every little bit helps. I'm sure Linda thanks you also. Hi Linda....hope all is well.

Jeez, it's still snowing here! I haven't seen a plow go down 303 for a couple of hours. Oy....
Could be a long ride home. Which way though? Try and get up 303 hill, or try and get down Boston road hill? Maybe I should just click my heels (boots) and hope for the best.
Hope you are all home safe and warm while your reading this. I'll post again when I get back, maybe even share some pictures....Oy! ALOHA!!!

I CAN SEE SOME GREEN........

Grass that is, not cash! I wish!!! The thaw has started and I'm hoping all the white stuff might be gone over the weekend. (a girl can hope you know!)
Not much going on here. I'm scrubbing down the kitchen and my hands are starting to look like that of a construction worker. On the up side, the fumes from the chemicals are giving me just a little bit of a buzz! OY! I need a Michelob!!
Jeff, Josh and Jake are keeping busy with lots of little projects that just can't get done in the regular season. Painting, cleaning and maintaining the equipment. Just when we think we are making a dent in some of the projects, something else needs attention.
One day it seems like spring is so far away, then you turn around and you think "how are we going to get everything done before spring?!" "Chill Deb, it will get done" Dad keeps telling me.
He's usually right.... but I still worry. Oh well, such is life....right?
Soon I will be on my way to visit my friend Jody, her husband, Kona, Nani and the rest of the pooch patrol for a week. A little R&R on the Island they call Oahu! It pays to have friends in high places.....or at least warm places! I will be traveling with my good friend Andrea
(aka MAMA!!!) a little girls vacation. Life is good!!
When I get back it will be time to hang the sign up sheet for the Chili Open, March 27th.
Mark your calenders!!
How many Days?????
Well....back to work. See you soon!

HO HO HO....

Ti's the season.... Oy! Where do we start? The mild November we had was great for business, but put me behind in my holiday preparations. (just like a woman, never happy!) Ha!
Oh well, deal with it Deb. Now that the weather has took a turn for the worse, it's time to start thinking about the spring. Ironic isn't it?!
I'm at the club taking calls for outings, leagues and membership information, including gift certificates and memberships for Christmas gifts. (Hint, hint....)
all the time looking out the window watching it snow. It really is a pretty site.
Quite often a few deer will cross by, usually followed by Jeff and Josh trailing close behind!
Those two amaze me. They love the cold and snow!? Men.... go figure. Even Jake (a male) will run by with a smile on his face. "Hey guys.... look no hands!!" as he proceeds to jump in a snow pile. Crazy dog, gotta love em'!! Maybe Santa will bring Jake a coat and mittens? I can hear Jeff, "your not putting that on my dog Deb!" Ho..ho..ho...
Every now and again a few of the members have stopped in to say hello, and maybe par take in a holiday cocktail. It's always nice to see some smiling faces. I consider St. Bernard members and the staff my extended family. (oy! more family!) Just kidding, I love my family, and feel blessed to have everyone in my life.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday season.
May we all have a healthy and prosperous New year.
Keep in touch!

Dear Santa,
Could you bring me back my golf swing? maybe a few pars and birdies?
Love, Deb

Dear Deb,
How about a Bowling ball?
Santa

OY!!

IS THAT IT?

Was that the last of our golfable weather? I hope not! I still say we will be swinging the club through January. (The power of positive thinking!!! ) We had a good crowd at the club Wednesday. Pa brought out some of his guys from his Wed league, and Dads guy's, Mike, Ray, Pat and the others also played. It was a little cool, but they got their round in.

Not much else happening at the club. Jeff, Josh and Jake are working on putting the course to bed for the winter. Plenty of work still left for them. Take a break guys! Go get yourselves a couple of Bucks!!! Hunting season has begun. Good shooting guys!! Hope you bag a 10 pointer!!

As for me, still plenty of paperwork left. The memberships are rolling in, bills need to be paid, and other assorted things will keep me busy for awhile. Then its time to start cleaning up the clubhouse and kitchen. It's a dirty job, but someone has too do it. Somebody equals DEB! Oy!
Anyway, that's all I got for now. I'll keep in touch. Remember, the 19th hole is still open!
Stop in and say hey!!! Have a great weekend!!

Keep it coming.....

the great weather that is. Isn't this great?! Mid November and the golfers are wearing shorts!? (Steve!) We have a good gang this morning. 16 of the 5-5-5, Gary, Ken, Bob, Bill and more..
Should be a good day. The course is in fantastic shape, even for November. Jeff, Josh and the crew have been working their butts off getting rid of the fall debris. Not an easy task with all the trees we have around here. Oy! Keep up the good work guys. I can't say it enough, YOU ROCK!

My boyfriend Jake has been busy the last couple of weeks. Those dumb geese just keep landing, then act surprised when a crazy dog keeps coming after them. Duh!! You go Jake, you the man!
Plus, he works for peanuts! Well ok, Cheese, or steak, or prime rib. (anything you want guy).
Although he was a little slow this morning when I woke him up at 7:30 for work.
We had our annual 5-5-5 dinner party yesterday and Jake was invited. (oops, dropped another piece of prime rib). A good time. Lots of food, drink, prizes and a little card playing.
And.... a Buckeye win!! Rose Bowl bound!!! OH....IO!
Linda and Therese cooked, served, decorated and took care of us in their usual efficient manner. Thanks girls. Your the best!!!
Maybe prime rib for breakfast Deb? Why not?!

The week ahead looks good. Might just get some play in before the Holiday season gets kicked off. Thanksgiving is on it's way! And we all know what follows that. Yikes!

The fivers are starting to turn now. Get moving Deb!
See you soon!

NICE MORNING!!

It feels like early September this morning. I'm sitting on the porch having coffee, listening to
Eric Clapton, watching the clouds rolling by and enjoying the fall foliage. How lucky am I?! VERY!! I sometimes forget. (check out the slide show)
It looks like were going to get that Indian summer I was talking about. Told you so!!
Jeff and the crew are doing the annual "chase the leaf routine". They have the course looking great as usual! Keep up the good work guys!! Jeff and Jake just came up to inform me that it's cart path only today.
Bummer! But I figured it would be. Lots of rain yesterday. Oh well! Deal with it Deb!
Therese just started the bacon. I can smell it in the air. This could be the last weekend for breakfast at the club. It's that time of year when the crew is on call. (and that means DEB gets to cover the shift! OY!) No PA, you can not have a 1/2 of bacon sandwich, I'm busy!!!
The 5-5-5 are rolling in. Now starts the banter. Time for me play referee.
Have a great weekend everyone!

THAT"S IT!

The last event of the year! The Pig Roast was a success. The weather was a bit nippy and drizzly, but the sun managed to peek through a couple of times. And of course, as soon as we were done, the sun stayed out. Oh well! Uncle Harry and Tommy did a great job on the pig as usual. Linda, Sarah and Therese handled all the rest with their usual efficiency. Thanks girls, Love you all!!
The week ahead looks great. Sunny and 60's. Don't put those clubs away!! Plenty of pars and birdes out there to be had. ( I know I left a bunch out there!) OY! I gotta get out there and practice! Not today though. I'm a little tired. The Buffaloians are in town. Always a good time!
But I pay for it. Oh well.
Not too many golfers out this morning. Gary and Ken and 10 of the 5-5-5. Looks nice out, but still a chill in the air. Maybe this afternoon things will pick up.
Not much else to report. Judi is vacuuming, Jake is pacing around looking for leftovers (I bet I know where he can get some. " where is that tall brunette chick?").
All is right in Richfield. Have a great Sunday!

Sunday, October 4, 2009

GOT ANOTHER ONE IN!

The Clambake yesterday was a hit! No rain, lots of friends and family, good food, and of course, a few spirits! What more can you ask for? (maybe a few bucks?!) "buy a lotto ticket Deb!"
Thank you everyone who attended, and thank you to my friend Lori for helping me with the Reverse Raffle. (even though she pulled the wrong numbers..Ooops) Also a thank you to Dave Stanfield for all of the Ohio State gear he donated for prizes. Go Buckeyes!!

On to the next/last club event. The Pig Roast. October 17th. Always a big hit. People love to watch that pig roasting away. I can't watch! Not that I really get a chance to sit down and eat at these events, but this one..... Linda! Make me a grill cheese please!! Sorry Uncle Harry, even though you do a great job, I just can't. Anyway, everyone else enjoys!

I'm kinda enjoying this little nip in the air this morning. It's nice to sit in the clubhouse and listen to ESPN and watch the 5-5-5 come around on the turn and yell "TURN UP THE HEAT DEB!"
I'll get right on that guys!
Judi is back in the kitchen making Jeff his 4 egg omelet!! Oy! That's a lot of eggs!
He works hard, he can handle it.
Jake is chasing the geese that have found their way back to St. Bernard. I don't know where they go, but they find their way back! GO JAKE!
Judi is making me laugh again!! I keep telling the guys the sun will come out, and she starts singing the Annie theme. Oy! Keep your day job girlfriend!
All is right in Richfield!

I think I will go to the kitchen and find my steak I never got to eat last night.
Steak and eggs? Why not?! (maybe a little for Jake)
Have a great Sunday everyone. See you soon!!

WHERE DID THE YEAR GO?

Hard to believe the end of September is around the corner. Only a couple of more events and the season is officially over. That's not to say that golf is over. I think we are going to have a great fall with a late Indian summer. (but what do I know?!) A girl can dream you know!

Most of the leagues are hosting their end of the year banquets and awards. The Tuesday men's league handed out awards and dined on chicken and ribs at the clubhouse this last Sunday. They looked like they had a good time. (I know I did!)
Today at the club the Casual Tees will have lunch and pass out their awards. I not sure what is for lunch, but Linda was making a bunch of Chicken yesterday. I'm sure whatever it is, is great! Linda always does a fantastic job with the food. Keep up the good work girlfriend!!!
I think the Monday night Teezers are having their party this Monday. They always have a good time at the club. Keep on Rocking Ladies!!!

Otherwise, I don't know much. I still have Lot's to do. We are hosting 92 golfers this Saturday for an outing. (please do your best "hold back the rain" dance for me!) Oy!
Then.............Let's see, First the Nascar Bash this Sunday the 27th, then the Clambake, then the Pig Roast. A girls work is never done!
Hope you can make one or all of this events. Lots of fun!
Back to work......... See you soon

WHO'S THE BEST?

We will find out today. Club Championship this morning. Looks like it's going to be a nice day.
I just love September!!! The men's division has a nice turn out, 20 guys, and the competition is tough! You go guys!!! As for the women? Oy! Jennifer and I are going to duke it out to the end!!
Come on Ladies, you are letting me down!! We need some girl power!! Even Laurie could not get up here for the competition. Sorry girl friend! You needed to defend your title. Maybe next year!?
I am a little tired this morning. I had two outings Saturday, (which is a good thing), and they wore me out. But I managed to stay up a little while and catch some of the Buckeyes game.
They looked good from the part I saw. (or maybe I was just sleepy!?) Oh well. They are still my Favorite. O..H..I..O...!!!
Next, the Browns! My other favorite team. I just know this is going to be a good year!! (did I say that out loud?) Ooops!
Anyway, time for me to get this place opened up. Judi should be here soon to start breakfast.
Soon the whole township of Richfield will smell like Bacon. Yummy!!!
First some golf, then some football, beer and food.
Did I mention I LOVE September?!!!!!
Have a great Sunday! GO BROWNS!

SWEATER AND JEANS!!

That's the uniform for today. What happened to the weather? It's more like October out there than August. Global warming my butt!! Even the humming birds are going nuts. Judi's out there this morning acting like the Hummingbird whisper. "Hey Deb, check this out" two of them are out there fighting and buzzing around, and shes talking to them like they understand her! You are a nut girlfriend!!!! Keep up the good work!

Jeff's 2nd annual NFL bash was a blast yesterday!! We had to sweat out the weather a bit, but everything went well. All the little details the crew put into the day didn't go unnoticed. It was hard to miss the giant goal post framing the front door! You can see it from the top of the hill on 303!! The traffic going by has to think "what the H_ _ _?!" All in all a good day. Good friends, good food, plenty of beer and golf. What else can a girl ask for!? (don't answer that!)
Now we have to start working on the next event. The NASCAR BASH.
Saturday September the 27th. Sure hope it warms up by then! OY!

Well, the 5-5-5 are rolling in. I better go give Judi a hand. I will post a slide show of the pictures from the Bash as soon as I can. Talk to you soon.

Monday, August 17, 2009

WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

As you can see by the image on the left, Jeff with my digital camera is a dangerous thing. Sorry Jeff, your self portrait you left on the camera made it's way to the blog.

The weekend was great. We played the Ben Kramer Memorial Saturday and Sunday. Lots of fun. Unfortunately my team did not place. We played well, but when the putts don't drop, they just don't drop!!! What's a girl to do?! CHIP DEB!!!!!
But I enjoyed myself. Thanks Ryba, thanks Jerry. There's always next year. OY!
Hope everyone else had a good weekend. The weather was warm, but tolerable.
Hope it keeps up.

On to the next event. Jeff's 2nd Annual Football bash. Saturday August 29th. It will be a blast!!!
Get yourself signed up. Jeff, Josh, Jake and the crew have lots of surprises for us.
(Sometimes I'm stepping in some of Jakes surprises! But better his than the geese! )
You Rock Jake!!!!! Keep up the good work.

Alrighty then, gotta get back to work. Senior Open this Wednesday. Teams need to be drawn and paperwork awaits. See you soon.

TWITTER?!

Who would of thought that I would be using words like "blog" and "Twitter" and "Facebook"?
Only in America. I thought I was up to date when I started this blog 3 years ago, but the times are a changing. Way too fast in my opinion! (I sound like an old lady. Oh wait! I am old!) Oops!
Anyway, since I am always looking for a way to promote St. Bernard Golf Club (inexpensively), I have joined the world of Twittering?! Twitter? Twit? Oy! I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet, but I promise I will figure it out. It seems to me it's just like this blog, but only instant messaging. So I think for me, it will be a good way to let people know whats going on here on a daily basis, and maybe introduce some new people to St. Bernard Golf Club. It's worth a shot!
My user name on http://www.twitter.com/ is stbgolfmama. Check it out when you get a chance, and maybe sign up for twitter (it's free) and twit along with me! Ha!

Don't forget the Kramer Memorial coming up. August 15th and 16th. Three person Pick your own team, 45 minimum handicap between the three. It's a great weekend of golf and good friends competing for the championship. I can't wait!!
The next event after that is Jeff's 2nd annual football bash. Jeff and Josh have a lot surprises planned. I keep asking him what he is doing, and he just smiles and keeps working. I'll get it out of you Jeff!!!! Your easy, I have some steak left over from dinner. Oh wait, that's for Jake! Sorry!

Back to work! See you all soon!

EMOTIONAL OPEN!?

Though I did not get to see much of the open all weekend because of work, I did catch the very emotional last day Sunday, and the playoff. Ouch! How sad! A victory brought home by Watson would have been a great boost to many aging/ailing golfers. Instead this open will go down as one of the saddest moments in sports. Oh well, Life goes on...

On the other hand, our British Open inspired Scramble was a success. We had 40 golfers, plenty of cold Michelob amber Bach draft, Fish and Chips and of course prizes. We even had cereal!?
"Hey Judi, whats with the cereal on the counter?" "The British Open Deb, "CHEERIOS!"
She's a Nut!!!! Everyone seemed to have a good time. Next up, Ben Kramer Memorial, then Jeff's 2nd Annual Football bash. I'm looking forward to both!!!!

The week ahead looks good weather wise. I hope it continues. I sure would like to get out and work on my game. I know I won't be playing over the weekend. Outings both days. Oh well Deb, work comes before golf. I gotta work on that!!!!! Golf before work? Sounds reasonable!

Not much else to report for now. I will catch up with you later. Have a great week!!!

*On a personal note: Congratulations to my Father Ron. Dad was one of the first inductees into the Cloverleaf race track hall of fame this Friday. I'm very proud of you Dad for many reasons, and this is just one more for me to add to my memories. Love you!*

NICE WEATHER CONTINUES........

I can't complain about the weather lately. Just right in my opinion. Not hot, not cold, just right papa bear!! Goldie locks, I am not!!!!
Now if the weather can hold out for all the club events and outings coming up in next couple of months. (am I asking too much?) Nah!!!
First up, The PGA bash this Sunday the 19th. Inspired by the British Open this weekend, we are going to play a Scramble and have some British twists on things. Should be a fun day. Join in the fun!
The weekend of the 25th is booked. Saturday I will host an outing of 120 plus golfers. Shotgun at 9:00am and then Sunday the Musketeers will host their annual outing with the first tee time at 10:00 am. I think that should keep me busy for a little while. Oy!!
Then we are headed into August. Wow, hard too believe. August already!?
With August brings the Annual Ben Kramer memorial. Time to start thinking about putting your team together. 3 Person scramble, 45 minimum handicap, with only one player under a 12.
Thing about it!!!

I would like to take a moment to thank all of the members and all the different leagues for their continued support of St. Bernard Golf Club. Not only do you support St. B, you support each other through good times and bad, and help the community's you live in. One example being the Casual Tees golf league hosted another rally for a cure this year, and were able to raise $800.00 for the cure. Way too go Ladies, YOU ROCK!!! Thank you "5-5-5', "Prime Timers", Monday Night Teezers, Tee Timers, Tuesday Night Men's League, Kiwanis, Casual Tees, and the Friday Night Couples. Thank you also you Thursday night guys, you know who you are. Your all Crazy!! (and I love It!)

Time for the broad to get back to work. No rest for the wicked. (no wonder I'm always tired!?)
See you all soon.

JULY?!

I can't believe Wednesday it will be July! Where did the time go? Before you know it.......(no!!! don't say it Deb!) Anyway, with July comes the 4th of July, and the annual Firecracker open here at St. Bernard. Two person scramble, pick your own team, minimum 24 handicap between the two. This tournament has a long history behind it. Plenty of war stories come with the tournament, along with some new traditions and stories to be established. One of which I heard (but did not witness) was Mike Mann making so many side bets, (and losing!) he had to go to the bank in a box and get more cash. To pay the bets off, he stopped and found a cardboard box from some kind of appliance, proceeded to make it look like a bank teller window and paid his debts through the drive up window. That had to be a sight. Do you think he learned a lesson? I hope so, he is my partner this year in the Firecracker! Your on your own with bets Mike!!!!!

All is quite this morning. I'm just sitting here waiting for Judi to get in and start the bacon.
That is about the time that Jake starts to wander up here toward the clubhouse. The dog is no dummy! He knows what broad to hang around. The tall brunette with the big heart! (SUCKER)
What can I say? I have a weakness for short gray haired boys who chase geese! Keep up the good work Jake.

Another outing this morning. The Lady Elks will descend on us about 10:00am. A good group of ladies (and a few of the male elks) will play golf and enjoy food and spirits at the Pavilion.
Thank you ladies for you continued support!

Ok, Foutz just pulled in. Time for me to get moving. Enjoy your Sunday everyone. See you soon.

JAKE IS THE MAN!!!

I could not have asked for a better dog than him. He is a keeper!! Although he has a few strange habits. For instance, he likes to chase the lawn mowers and bite at the tires! Whats with that?!
As Donna the Dog Whisper said, KNOCK IT OFF BUDDY!! And as you can see in the picture, he has found a few strange hiding places so we can't find him when its time for bed. Forget wheres Waldo? Wheres Jake? Tooooo cute!! Love you Jake, keep up the good work.

Sunday was a success. The National Car Mart/B-day bash had a great turn out. 80 golfers total.
The weather was perfect and a good time was had by all. Good golf, good food, good friends. What else is there? (how about one of these outings a week?)

Busy week ahead for us here. Tomorrow is the Richfield Chamber of Commerce outing, Thursday is Rally for the cure, Saturday is the Ted Kruse Memorial. I'm getting tired just thinking of it. Linda has so many notes laying around it looks like a post-it factory exploded.
Hang in there Linda. We will get through it. We always do!!

It's time to start thinking about getting your Firecracker team together. July 4th. Two person scramble, minimum 24 handi-cap between the two. Always a good time. Sign up sheet is in the Clubhouse.

Ok, time to get back to work. Lots to do. Have a great week. See you soon

I KNOW, I KNOW!!!

Sorry, but not much happening except RAIN! Is it June 1st or April 1st? I just hung up with Linda and told her to stay home today. My league is supposed to play this morning but it doesn't look good. But since I gave Linda the day off, that pretty much guarantees that the day will get busy. Flip them burgers DEB!! OY! Thanks alright, I welcome the challenge. (and the business)

Like I said, not much to report. Just getting ready for the up coming events. First up, Pa John-Poje-Pniewski National Car Mart B-day Bash. June the 14th. Always a good time. Lots of prizes, food and surprises. Call the clubhouse for more info.
We have some outings coming up in June. I'm going to need some help. Yo Joe, Yo Zupanc, your on deck! You guys ROCK! Thanks again.

The course is in beautiful condition. Jeff and the guys are doing a fantastic job as usual.
Keep up the good work guys.
We have another new addition to the staff at St. Bernard. His name is Jake.
He's has salt and pepper hair, a little short, good looking, hard working and loves the outdoors. His hobbies include bird watching, running. He likes his belly and ears rubbed and enjoys a good milk bone. Figure it out? Jake's the goose chaser!! And he is doing a good job. So when you see him running around, give him a "atta boy!!"

Ok, time for me to get some work done. These days are made for getting projects done that we have not had time for. Or maybe I'll just read a book. We shall see.
Stay dry. Hope to see you soon.
Don't forget the 19th hole is always open.

THAT WAS FUN!!!!!!

The Member/Guest day that is! The day went well, and everyone seemed to have fun. The weather cooperated, we (they) hit the links, lots of food and spirits were consumed. What more can you ask for? (maybe a smoke for me!? Stop it Deb!) Sorry, old habit!!
The course looked great!! Jeff, you and your staff ROCK!!! Linda and Therese managed the kitchen and bar with their usual efficiency. Wally, thanks again for all of your help with the scoring. What would I do without ya!? So, all in all, a good day.
Onward!!! OY!

The next event, National car mart/PA John/Poje/Pniewski B-day Bash. June 14th. Always a good turn out for this event. Good prizes, food and fun. The sign up sheet is in the Club house. Check it out!

As I sit here on the porch (in my new lounge area) with a Michelob light and look out over the course, again I am reminded of how lucky I/We are to have this beautiful view.
With this being Memorial day weekend, I find it even more appropriate to appreciate what we have and how we have come to achieve it. Without the effort of our armed forces we would not be where we are now. For all of the veterans and their families that have sacrificed for our freedom, I say THANK YOU!!

Time for me to head home. Tomorrow is another early day.
I'll post the photos in the morning, and maybe have some more to report. (Oh no Deb!, shut up!)
See ya soon!!!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

For all you hard working Mom's out there, this day is for you. Enjoy!! MOM'S ROCK!!
Looks like the weather should be good for whatever event you have planned. (hope some of the day includes golf)
I'm sitting here watching the sunrise. It truly is a beautiful view. Sometimes I loose sight of how pretty it is here. I guess I just get caught up in the everyday projects around here, but there is always someone who comes here for the first time and says WOW! Like Judi, the new addition to the St. Bernard Staff. (welcome Judi!) She stopped out to talk about working here, and commented on how pretty the view is. That wakes me up!
Today is her first day at the club. She should be in shortly, and then the air will be filled with the aroma of bacon. I think that alone brings in the customers. Bacon? Oh yeah, 18 and a cart please!!
Just a reminder: This year we are having what I hope will become an annual event at St. B.
The 23rd of May we are having a Member/Guest Scramble. Free green fees for guests, food, beer, water, prizes and maybe a few surprises. Sign up sheet is in the Club house. Think about someone you know that might enjoy the camaraderie and golf experience at St. Bernard Golf Club. This is a great way to promote your Golf Club, and don't forget you receive $25.00
St. Bernard dollars for every new member you bring in.

Ok, back to work! Don just walked in. Time to get the 5-5-5 started.
Have a great day! See you soon!

HELP WANTED!

Really, If anyone knows of someone looking for work, I have opening for Sunday/Holiday mornings here in the clubhouse. Someone out there needs some extra money I'm sure. If I didn't have some much to do I would take the Job! Oh, wait a minute, I am doing the job. HELP!

Anyway, Our first Annual M.L.B. outing yesterday was a home run. (pardon the pun).
We had 36 golfers, the weather was beautiful. We had breakfast, played a "schramble", then pigged out on Peanuts, Hot dogs, Cracker jacks and Big league Chew! And of course Beer!!
I think everyone had a good time. I know I did! On to the next event, Member Guest Day.
Saturday May 23rd.

It sure is a pretty morning out there. Golfers are starting to trickle in. Not a big rush though?!
Only 10 of the 5-5-5. I don't know? Maybe everyone needs to get yard work done. I know I do!!
But, it's just going to have to wait. Work, then Golf, then yard work. In that order! Well, maybe GOLF then work. Oh wait, my work is golf, and golf is my work? Something like that.

It's only April and already we have had TWO members Ace the #1 hole here at St. Bernard.
Jim Ski on Friday the 24th, and John Zupanc, just this morning. Congratulations guys!!!
Time to get your dollar back in the Insurance. You never know when the ball will drop!!!

Ok, things a picking up. Gotta run. See ya soon!!
(p.s. I want a cigarette!)

BACK ON TRACK!!!

Sorry! I got side tracked around here for a while. Go figure!! For those of you who have not heard or seen me for a couple of weeks, Golfmama is attempting to quit smoking!!! Yes, hell has froze over, pigs are flying, and the universe is tilting. I can't believe it myself. But, it's time. For those of you who have been through it, you understand. For those who don't, let me apologize now for anything I might say of do out of pure nicotine withdraw. Ok, onward!!!!

Whats with the, get a couple of nice days, then three to four days of rain?! Make up my mind!!
At least the weekends have be somewhat ok. I keep forgetting its only April and anything can happen in April in Cleveland. (Don't say the "s" word Deb!)

It's sure looks like it wants to rain out there right now, but so far it's holding off. We have a few golfers out there now trying to get their round in before the wet stuff starts. I think they have a couple of hours to get it in. You go guys!!!!!!!!
The end of the week looks great weather wise. Just in time for our 1st annual M.L.B. golf tournament. This Saturday April 25th at 9:00 am. Should be a blast!! Come on and sign up!
We have several other theme tournaments scheduled for this year. Watch for the sign up sheets in the clubhouse. Come join the fun!!

Not much else to report right now. All is quite on the home front. (for now!) Enjoy it while it lasts Deb!!!!! See ya soon! (don't forget the 19th hole!)

CHILLY CHILI OPEN!!

Well, we got the first event of the year in without a hitch. A wee bit brisk, but otherwise everything was good. The Chili open had 36 golfers who braved the cloudy cool weather for 9 holes, then came in and sampled the 9 different chili entries. A good day.

We have frost again this morning here. But the day looks to be warm and sunny. I think I might sneak out and play this morning. The 5-5-5 are rolling in now, so I will finish this post later.
Signing off for now.

Ok, I'm back. Sorry about the interruption. I should have stayed in here and finished my blog.
What a bad round of golf!!!!! Oh well, at least I got out. Good thing too, looks like we are going to get some snow today. OY! Just when things were looking up.
But, the end of the week looks like it will warm up. Just in time for Easter, the Tribe opener, and the Masters! I love Masters week at the golf course. Everyone gets pumped up for golf.

Sunday was not a good day for animals at St. Bernard. First, one of Jeff's cat's had to be put to sleep. Sorry Jeff.
But this next one you will not believe. Get yourself to hole #4, Golfer tees off, you know the cement barrier in front of the green?, sounds like the ball hits that. So they go over to the green to start looking for the golf ball, turns out it hit a TURTLE on the back, and the ball is embedded half way into it's shell!!?? (do you get relief? wait a little Ryba, if he crawls up on the green, you get the pin shot!) Never saw anything like that in my life. I have the pictures to prove it.
Only at St. Bernard! Jeff got the ball out and put him back in the lake, hope he makes it.

Well, I guess I'll go upstairs and start cleaning up my office. It's time to move the office back upstairs. This is a sure sign of spring. See you soon.

I'M STILL HERE!

Someone told me yesterday that I am neglecting my blog!? (people in glass blogs should not throw blogs) But really, I guess I have been preoccupied. We have been busy here getting ready for the official start of the season. We have had some play the last couple of weeks. It's been nice to see your smiling faces.

Jeff said that they are a couple of weeks ahead of schedule due to the nice weather. Jeff and Josh have mowed the greens and fairways, and with Don's help, they are tackling the leaves left from the winter. It feels good to be ahead of the game for once. Although, there is still a lot more work to be done.
I have scheduled for the roof, window, cash register, handicap computer and my car to be fixed.
Oy! With Eva's help, we have the kitchen and club house cleaned up and ready.
It's time to make contact with Linda, Alex, Donna, Darlene, Shannon, Sarah and Therese to decide when they will officially start back to work. (soon I hope!) I know Donna will be here Monday the 30th. The Monday night teezers are having their league meeting that night. (I got your Mikes Lemonade Light in stock Ladies!) You girls Rock!!!
Then Linda should be in shortly after that to see what we need to make the chili for the CHILI OPEN, Saturday April 4th. Sign up sheet is in the clubhouse, or just show up about 9:30 and check in. See you then, if not before.

Another project on the agenda is coming up Thursday April 2nd . Wally and I are going for our 4th Annual golf show at Quaker Steak and Lube in Valley View at 6:00pm. Along with other area golf courses, we set up a booth and show case our Golf Club. We get a Bucket of chicken wings and a pitcher of beer just for showing up! What more can a girl ask for? (don't answer that) The show offers many give aways for customers, including rounds of golf, golf balls and gift certificates. Hope you can stop by and say hello. (5935 Canal Road).

Other than that, Not much else to report. Time to watch the weather, and do the "hold off the March/April snow dance". Oops, sorry for that visual. See ya soon!!!

GOOD DAY SUNSHINE!!!

What is that big yellow ball is the sky?! Could it be the sun? It's been so long I've forgotten. It looks nice out there, but there's still a nip in the air. Just ask Jeff and Josh, poor guys have been out there all day trying to pump out #4 lake. Seems we have a block in the over flow and the lake is overflowing. Oy! Always something. But I'm sure they will get the job done as usual. Thanks Guys!!!
This weekend looks promising. Sunny and 50 degrees. This should bring out some die hard golfers I'm sure. I think I might even be able to get out and knock the cob webs of my game. (I hope!)
I'm here at the club awaiting the arrival of my friends from Buffalo, Marc, Kim and Uncle Mahoney (the dog). I can't wait. Michael and Herman and Dan Dickey are out braving the cold and working on their games. A little too cold for me! Eva is here helping me clean up the kitchen and the club house, getting ready for the first official event at St. B, the CHILI OPEN April 4th.
3 more weeks, and the season officially starts! Get those clubs out of storage and in your trunk, and set the cruise control to 5364 W. Streetsboro Rd.
Time for me to get back to work. I will post again before the Chili Open. See you soon.
Remember, the 19th hole is still open!!!!

EIGHT MORE DAYS....

Then we can say goodbye to February and hello March. Ahhh... what a wonderful month.
St. Patrick's Day, the promise of spring around the corner, day light saving time, everything screams GREEN. Which happens to be my favorite color. Thing about it, Money is green, Golf courses are green, green peace, green eggs and ham-sam I am.

We are still working at the club to get things ready for all of you. Even though it seems so far away, soon the sound of club heads striking the golf ball will ring through Richfield. Nothing quite like that sound. Kind of like the sound of a grandfather clock chiming on the hour. (or in Mr. Zupanc case, the sound of a tin can hitting the ball) It's that type of driver of his. What ever it is, it works for him. Keep up the good work John!

Jeff and Josh have been out on the course in between the snow storms picking up sticks and debris, and observing what needs to been done to open the season. Lot's to do, but they are all fired up, and ready to rock!! Josh even played 36 holes Monday, dodging snow, and playing through the snow. You rock Josh!! (or your off your rocker) Ha! Just kidding buddy.

A few friends have popped in to say hello and check in. Everyone is optimistic about the up coming season. Even with the tough economic times, I still believe that St. Bernard G.C., and golf in general, is still one of the best recreational investments you can make. Hope you agree.

We look forward too seeing all of your smiling faces soon. Plenty of Par's and Birdies out there just waiting for you!! See you soon!!

Personal note:
Hugs and Kisses Lucy, we love you!!

5 MINUTES TO WHINE!

That's all I'm aloud! So here I go. What a week! The roof here is leaking again, I need a umbrella to walk around. The refrigerator went on the fritz again, just got done throwing everything out.
The pick up truck broke down, my car needs (quote my service advisor) major surgery, I need major dental work and my brother was in a major car accident. Oy! In the interest of avoiding a major break down, I'm venting.
My brother is ok, majorly sore, but ok. Thank god!
So, I call up a old friend to look at the roof, Tommy will be here tomorrow to shovel the snow off the roof and see what he can do for us. Thanks Tommy!
I take my car in and the parts on national back order, and when they do come in, it will be a week to get it fix. Under warranty (thank god), so that's that.
Started on my dental work. I asked the doctor to knock me out, I can use a nap. No such luck, Novocaine Deb!
So I call in the "Old Man" (as he calls himself) Hambone to look at the fridge. (He was here in 20 minutes) What would I do without him? I don't want to find out! So I start to explain that I went to shut down the Ice maker to try to save on energy, and he explains the the thermostat that controls the compressor on the fridge is plugged into the same breaker that the Ice maker is on. OY! Boy am I idiot!! (good news, fridge not broke)
What next? I'll tell whats next, MICHELOB TIME! Speaking of which, today is my late Michelob's Birthday, which just happens to be on the same day as my Dad's Birthday.
Happy Birthday Dad, I love you!
Time for me to get out of here, regroup over the weekend, and come out fighting!!
Five minutes up!
I realize that a lot of people out there have a lot worse problems than ours, but sometimes we all need to whine. Thanks for listening.
Hope you are all well, and look forward to seeing you in the spring!
Next post, Nothing but good news. Happy Valentines Day everyone!

ENOUGH ALREADY!

Turn off the snow please! Is it just me, or is this winter the longest on record? I feel like I live in Buffalo or something (no offense K.K., Kimmer and Marc). I got up this morning, looked out the window and went back to bed!! (sometimes this job has it's good points) I figured what ever needed done could wait, besides I knew Dad would brave the roads and be there. Nothing scares him. Also, Jeff just called to let me know him and Josh went in and plowed the lot so we can get in and out without problem. How lucky am I to have such good friends and family?! Jeff and Josh are taking a couple of days off to go to Jeff's cabin in Michigan. Enjoy you guys, you have earned it. Be careful, have fun!!!

I called Linda yesterday to say hello, and find out how her winter was going. She said she was just going to call me that same day, we have been friends so long, we have starting thinking alike.
Scary sometimes! (insert Twilight zone music here)...... Anyway, everything is fine with her. She thinks the winter is going by fast!? That's our Linda, always happy! She is spending time with that beautiful grandbaby Amy! A lot of work, but she loves it!! Love you Linda! I need to get in touch with the rest of the girls. I miss them. Alex, Sarah, Donna, Darlene, Eva, Shannon and Therese. Again, how blessed am I for all of them?! Love you girls.

Looks like the snow is finally letting up. Now it's time to dig out. OY! Tomorrow is another day. Time to get back to work and count down the days until spring. How may is it?
Stop in and say hello when you get a chance. The light is always on (along with the heat!) I know because I pay the bill! OY!
See ya all soon!!!

CcccccccOLD!!!!!!!

Turn up the heat! This is crazy. You can't get anything done in weather like this. Just try to keep warm. I left my laptop in my car for a few hours, and when I turned it on I thought it was going to blow up! It made sounds I never heard before, Oy! (hello geek squad, Ive frozen my laptop!?)
Anyway, hope you all are finding a way to stay warm. How many days until spring training?

Not much happening at the club. Just the usual, fix what breaks, clean up a little, fix what breaks next, clean up, ect...... I love when I meet new people and they find out what I do for a living and say "that must be so exciting!" I think to myself, "the grass is always greener" theory, I don't say it, but I think it. I guess this is true of most professions. So, I'll keep plugging away, and with the help of my Dad, Jeff and Josh I think we will get everything fixed and ready to start playing Golf soon. (I said SOON!!!)(hear that mother nature?!) Sorry, I'm getting a little cranky this winter.

A couple of members have stopped in to say hello, check in, and enjoy a post holiday cocktail. I really enjoy that. Thanks guys! I promise next time we will have the parking lot plowed, we had a little transmission problem with the pickup truck this week. Of course when we get 12 inches of snow!!! When else should it break down? in the summer? NAH!! Oh well!

Ok, I need some more coffee. I will continue to post until spring arrives (and after). How may days until spring? Let me know! Stay warm! Think warm thoughts!!
HAWAII, HAWAII, HAWAII!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Welcome 2009! It's so hard to type 2009, like dating a check, 20..... or in my case 19......
I'm such a dinosaur!! Hope you all enjoyed your holidays. I managed to get away and visit with some friends for the New Year. We went to Buffalo to stay with friends I have known them for more than 20 years, OY! I'm old! Only I would go somewhere colder than Cleveland to celebrate the New Year. Oh well, that's me!!! We had a great time, relaxed and just enjoyed. Thank you Kim and Marc and Mahoney!!! Love you guys!!! I even managed to get some golf in!! That Wii machine is something else. According to it, I beat Tiger Woods at Firestone C.C. (talk about a fix!!!) A girl can dream!!
Back at home, Jeff and Josh have been working in the cold, trying to get caught up on details that have been bothering them. They see things that you might notice, but these things drive them nuts!! This is one of MANY reasons I am so proud of them!! Thank you Jeff and Josh, you guy's ROCK!!! (This is why you work off the many cookies and candy that have appeared at the club house!)
Between their hard work, Jeff and Josh have been able to get away and indulge in one of their passions, Hunting. Dad and I like to sit and listen to their hunting experiences. Seems like a lot of work too me, but they seem too enjoy. Josh got a 9 point buck last week, I thought that seemed big, but he seemed to yearn for more. What do I know? Go for it Josh!!!! I hope you get a 24 point!! (a girl can hope!) (so can a guy!)

Anyway, How many days until spring training? Please tell me, only a few!!! Lie if you have too!!!

Keep warm, think spring, keep the faith!! Love you all!! See you soon!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ECT.....

Hope you all had a great Christmas!! Did you get your stocking stuffed? Or did you get a lump of coal?
Things were good here. A few of the members stopped in to say hello and par-take in a x-mas cocktail. We reminisced about the good old times and the good times too come! Thank you guys, Love you!!
Hope you are all as lucky to have Friends and family like we have here. For this I am truly grateful!

But, hold on Deb! Not that easy! I came in Friday to find the furnace was not working correctly, the blower was blowing out cold air, and the temp in the club house was 45 degrees! OY! So, I call Jeff, "JEFF, what do you know about the NEW A/C-HEAT UNIT?
He was on his way in and suggested I shut of the main breaker on the unit on the roof.
OK, so I go out on the roof....... SOLID SHEET OF ICE!! .... This is not the way I want to get our name in the Newspaper. (Golfmama falls off roof!) Not good!!!
Anyway, among other malfunctions of the day, Jeff, Dad, Hambone and myself got everything fixed. I swear those three guys can fix anything! Maybe they should go give Obama a helping hand. Thank you guys!!!

Today looks promising. I do believe we might get some golfers out. Looks like I better get my self ready, and get into work. Hope to see you all soon.

How many days until spring training?????

.May every wish you've every spoken.....come true....... this is my prayer for you!

Happy New year everyone!!!

ONLY TEN MORE DAYS......

Shopping days that is, until Christmas. Are you done with your list? I am! Finally. Wasn't easy, but it's done. It seems like every year it gets more difficult to find that perfect gift.
Here's and Idea Deb, St. Bernard Gift certificates!! DUH!!! What was I thinking?!
Excuse the obvious sales pitch, but it is a good Idea. Why not give the gift of golf. We have many options you can choose from. Certificates for golf, pro shop food and beverage of any denomination. Just a thought, hope it helps. (just call me Mama Santa!)

Anyway, what about this weather? 50 degrees one day, and 30 the next! Make up our minds!
Some of the guys planned on playing Sunday, but the rain just would not hold off. Oh well. We gave it a shot. At least the snow is gone. Maybe we will luck out and get a couple of warm days so we can get out and knock the cob webs off our swings. A girl can hope you know!

Not much else happening here. Dad, Jeff, Josh and I are here getting ready for the spring. (how may days?) Way too many Deb. It's not even officially winter yet. Oy! I guess we should just relax and enjoy the holiday season. Lots of friends and family to enjoy, lots of cookies and candies to eat! Sounds like a plan.
Hope you all are doing the same. Enjoy!! Think Spring!

REMEMBRANCE.......

Pearl Harbor day. Always a day of remembrance for me, but lately has taken on a new significance. With all that is going on in the world today, it makes it more difficult for all of us to stop and reflect on what this country has had to endure to get where we are.
Yes, times are difficult now, but we can not forget what we once were. And hopefully will get back too.

I know, I know, get off your soap box Deb!! But I truly believe in this country, and I know that alot of you out there will agree!! So for this, I give thanks! To all the Veterans and their family's, and the current Armed forces and their family's, Thank you! Go team USA!!!

Back to St. Bernard (another USA made product)(sorry, had to throw that in there!)
We had our annual 5-5-5 league banquet last night. Good time all around. Linda and Alex had the club house looking like the North Pole. Santa himself could not have done a better job. Thanks girls, Love you!!!! Not to mention the food was (as usual) Fantastic!!!!!
We played cards, watched football, and just enjoy the friendships that come with belonging to a club like St. Bernard. Again, for this I give thanks.
Now it's time to start getting ready for Christmas. OY!!! What's a girl to do? (don't answer that!)
Dad, Jeff, Josh and I will still be at the club getting ready for spring. It will be here before you know it!!! How may days until spring training?

Hope you can stop in and say hello.
Love you all.....

By the way, the photo is of my love "Kona"! Holiday greetings from Hawaii......

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Oops! I mean Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Although it seems like Christmas when you look out the window!! Is it just me, or did we get more snow than usual at this time of year?
Jeff didn't even get a chance to put away some of the course equipment. And I didn't get a chance to clean up the flower beds. What mess I'm going to have in the spring. Oh well, deal with it Deb! Time for me to start cleaning up the club house, kitchen ect... By the looks of the weather, I will have plenty of time to get the job done. Jeff and Josh have a good head start on maintaining the equipment. Not a easy task, its cold down in that shop. You rock guys!!! Keep up the good work.
Wally stopped in last week, him and I and Jeff sat down and worked out the Club events schedule for next year. We had a good pow wow meeting, and work up some nice surprises for you all next year. I can't wait!! Is it spring yet?!!!
It will be here before you know it. Hang in there everyone!
Hope you all enjoy your family and friends over the holiday season. Don't eat to much.
Hope you can stop by and say hello, and maybe enjoy a holiday cocktail. Bring your sleigh!!!

WHAT HAPPENED?!

From golf on Friday, to shoveling snow on Monday. I knew I hated Mondays for a reason!
It was nice while it lasted though. A few of you got a couple more rounds in last week. It was nice to see your smiling faces. It gets lonely here this time of year. Even though we have plenty to keep us busy, it's not the same without seeing the members pop in and say hello, and maybe have a cocktail or two. Jeff and Josh are here all winter getting the equipment ready for next year (not a easy task), but they manage to get it done. They have lot's of other little projects they want to get done, one at a time guys!! In between the projects, we take a break and discuss the upcoming/already played games. Talk about highs and lows. One day its "Go Browns" the next it's "there is always next year" OY!
The Buckeyes look good. (I need something to root for!)

It's snowing here again. In a way it's pretty, looking out the window at the course with the snow coming down beats any corner office view Ive ever seen. Once in a while you see some deer run down the fairway(and over the green, Ouch!) and back through the course. It's a nice sight!
Don't you feel sorry for me yet! Ha!

Anyway, not much else to report for now. I will keep posting all winter long, counting down the days until the CHILI OPEN 2009! (How many days?) Figure it out and let me know!!
Happy Turkey Day everyone!! (Only one piece of pie!!!) See ya!

NOVEMBER?

It feels more like May. Do you believe this weather?! What a bonus. Every little bit helps!
Now that the election is over, I think we all could use some time on the links. I know I could!
I can't think of any better way to unwind and clear my mind than going out and walking 18 and enjoy the beautiful view. Jeff and the crew are still at it, clearing the leaves and getting the course ready for the winter. It looks great Jeff!! You rock! Linda has been in the last couple of days to wrap things up in the kitchen, and has made a big batch of her famous Chili. YUM!!
This is nice to have on hand over the winter for those days when we are not so smart, and head out for 18 holes in 40 degree weather. No, not us!! What's a girl to do?!
The Prime Timers are starting to roll in now. Another group of diehards. They will play until the S$#% flies. You rock guys!!
Time for me to get to work. Then hopefully get out and chase that little white ball. Hope you can do the same! See ya soon!!
Brady, Brady, Brady!!!!!
