I'm not sure how, but we managed to get our round in yesterday despite mother natures efforts.
Once again the weather forecasters were slightly off with their predictions. Go figure!
We started out dry, then the skies opened up....so we took a break, had some snacks and waited for an opening. After about a half an hour things let up, and we headed back out in search of birdies and eagles. I was a bit worried about the timing, as I had expected to serve dinner around five. We got in about 4:30 and I scrambled to award the prizes and get set up for the reverse raffle. With a little help from some friends we managed to get the job done. Thanks to all. Maple Hts catering was right on time, and John Z manned the grill with his usual expertise and we all settled down to enjoy our Annual Clambake.
Linda and Therese made sure no one was parched, and served up dessert. All in all a good day.
Just a few more events left in the year... One more Senior Open, Pig Roast and Chili "Closer". Where did the year go?!
I told Therese and Bernie to take the day off , as the forecast was for rain all day...? Big mistake on my part, or maybe not. That usually guarantees the weather will be fine.
No rain here so far.....but it sure is windy. Some of the 5-5-5 are out and a small group of the Prime Timers, along with a few others. So of course this means Deb is cooking eggs....yikes! Scrambled....ok, but over easy?! not so good... Oh well, I got through it.
Jeff is out with Jake working on one thing and another. They are always finding something to do...
They both need a break!! But neither of them will listen to me...oy! just like all the men in my life!
This is my life in Richfield, and for this I am truly grateful.
It looks like the middle and end of the next week will be rather pleasant. Hope you can stop in and see us, get in a couple of rounds and enjoy the view.
See you soon.
Have a great Sunday!!
Go Buckeyes!!!!

Lonely Sunday....
Sure is quiet out here at the moment. I'm sitting on the veranda waiting for the last three golfers to come in, wondering if they will beat the rain. Rather a slow day today...? not sure if the weather was a factor or maybe there still is a glimmer of hope for the Browns. I tuned in as usual, and again was disappointed. Although they didn't get beat as bad as predicted. Oy! what a thing to grasp onto!
But..that's all I got.
Yesterday was good. We held our annual NASCAR Bash, so we headed out on a crisp morning looking to gain some speed and score some points. After a few pit stops and caution flags, we threw the checkered flag and crowned the winners. Afterward we enjoyed some corn dogs, chili cheese fries and nachos. Of course a few libations were consumed, and we settled in to revisit the missed putts, stray second shots and in general "shoulda woulda coulda" banter. In addition to solving all the world problems... again..Oy! Just another typical Sunday at "the Dog". All is right in Richfield.
The Tribe has been in rain delay, so here I sit posting thinking about the week ahead.
Lots to do. Banquets, outings...etc. I sure would like to sit down and enjoy a good book right now.
But my brain is turning to fast to enjoy. Yikes!
Jeff is away enjoying some well deserved time with his family, and Jake is moping around like a lost soul. I know Jake loves me, but Jeff is still #1. He's #1 one in my book also. I think I'll go in and look for a snack the Jaker, and maybe a snack for myself. Getting a bit nippy out here, could be some frost on the pumpkins soon.
Ay,caramba , say it ain't so......
Have a great evening.

Here we go......
Sunday morning at "the Dog". I rolled in at 7:00 am this morning and found golfers waiting for me!?
It was a pleasant surprise I must say, as I haven't seen such a busy morning in some time.
The consensus was everyone is excited about Browns opening day. Everyone wanted to get their rounds in then relax and watch the game. I love this time of year. Even if the Browns have a losing season, Jeff and I enjoy this time with the hope that they can put a few W's on the board.
It gets difficult sometimes to keep the faith as the banter has a started once again among the guys this morning...Oy! The stuff is really flying around here. I'll just try to keep busy and wait until 1:00.
I will remain optimistic and enjoy the anticipation. How about you?
It really looks like it wants to rain out there!? I thought they said sunny and 80? Who knows!!
Anyway, 18 days and counting until the ELK Festival!! "what? you ask"
This is something Jeff looks forward to every year. It's almost like Christmas to him.
A well deserved break for him, so together we are counting down the days.
Enjoy Jeff...you've earned it.
But first we need to prepare for the next club event.
The NASCAR bash this Saturday the 14th. After that we have a couple of outings left this year, and numerous league awards luncheons and banquets. Yikes!
I just don't know where the year went!?
Oh well, don't fret Deb....plenty of golf weather left. Relax and enjoy....right?
The 555 are out, Therese is cleaning up the breakfast dishes, Jake is looking for his "nummies" and Jeff is modeling a really ugly pair of golf shoes from the lost and found table. Oy!
What a crew.......and they are all mine....for this I am truly grateful.
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday Morning.
Time for me to get back to work.
See you soon.
GO BROWNS!

NFL BASH.....
What a day!!! Jeff's 6th annual NFL Bash was held this Saturday, and we could not have asked for better weather. We met our goal of 72 golfers (a team on every hole) and we headed out in search of birdies and eagles. Each being worth points for the score.
But before starting out we enjoyed a continental breakfast with many treats prepared by myself.
Two new members to the club, Debbie and Denise (aka Vegas) came up with an idea and were kind enough to follow through. They set up the most impressive Bloody Mary bar you have ever seen....Shrimp, asparagus, garlic stuffed olives, celery, many types of hot sauces, fresh ground sea salt and pepper..etc.....really first class all the way. Thank you girls, it was the BOMB!
So that was breakfast. Then we went out and scrambled. On the turn we hit the Keg, grabbed some dogs and went on for more. Jeff's daughters Brie and Alex maneuvered the beer cart through out the day, and made sure no one was parched. They did a great job.
Once we finished our competition it was time post the scores, calculate our winners and check for skins. This process takes a while sometimes, so Jeff started our version of the big break.
He constructed a target of a football player catching a pass. The football is cut out of the wood and a piece of glass is inserted. (about the size of a real football). Each golfer was givin three golf shots to hit the target and break the glass from 15 yards away. 72 golfers x 3= 216 shots, and only two people managed to break the glass!! What a hoot. We tossed a few corn hole bean bags, and enjoyed the afternoon. Next up.....,..Zupanc hits the grill. John grilled 80 steaks to perfection as usual, and we chowed down on Caesar salad, au gratin potatoes and rolls.
Do you think we had enough food?! Oy! My skort is tight this morn.....
Jeff prepares for this event all year and it shows in all the details. You have to been here to appreciate it...the carts decorated, the flag sticks, the goal post, the tee markers....
it really is a labor of love. I think everybody enjoyed it, I know I did.
Jeff's daughters promised to send me the pictures they took,
and I will post a slide show as soon as I can.
Thank you again Jeff......you ROCK!!
Time for me to get back to work.
I have to start putting away all the inside decorations......Oy! (I think I over did it)
Have a great Sunday. Hope you can make time for a round or two.

PGA Bash.....
August already?! I mean... really? What a crazy summer, or should I say, what summer?
The weather was not kind to us golfers this year. It seems like I sweated out all of the club events and outings. Worrying and hoping we would get them in. Oy!
But some how me managed to get through it.
Yesterday while the pros duked it out over at Firestone, we hit the links here and competed in our own world series of golf. 32 of us competed in our annual PGA Bash Saturday.
The weather was great, the competition was tough, the beer was cold, and the munchies were gobbled up by hungry golfers. Can't ask for more than that. (but I will...go figure.)
It's beautiful here this morning, although we had yet another storm blow through here about 3 am.
Who knows where that came from!? But the rest of the day looks to be great. Sun and 70's. Should be a good day. Hope you can get out and enjoy it.
Time for me to start preparing for the next few events here at "the dog".
First up...Ben Kramer Memorial...this is one of my favorite events.
Two days of competing with some strong players, and competitive teams.
One of which is my friend/arch enemy Laurie. Most of you know of our long running rivalry, and have fun watching us compete and pay off bets. She's tough, and has a few "Fike" dollars stashed away in a secret envelope..Oy!
But she'll need to work hard this year to make that envelope grow.
Watch out girl.....my short game is back!!
But honestly.....Looking forward to seeing you Girlfriend. I've got the wine chilled and the guest room ready. See you next weekend.
After the Kramer, comes Jeff's 6th Annual Football Bash!! This is Jeff's baby. All year long while out on the course working, his mind is racing, trying to come up with yet another addition to make the event even one better each year. And he does!
He has given me a sneak preview of what he's worked up this time. He won't tell me all of it....but I know its going to be a blast!
You are truly the best my friend!! I couldn't do this without you and Jake in my life!!!
Speaking of Jake...
Time for me to go lace his "nummies" with his joint medicine, and treat him to a frosty paw after.
Then he can head outside and play with his squeaky toys Therese buys him each week (their lucky they last a week) and greet the customers with a friendly bark. This is now his position here, as I think his goose chasing days are behind him. Poor baby....
That's ok buddy...you've earned your keep....enjoy your retirement.
That's all I've got for now. Enjoy your Sunday. Hope you can get out and hit a few.
See you soon.

The Open Weekend....
It's always fun when the weekend golf tournament is televised in the morning.
We start early around here, and the coverage of tournaments is always a good way to start the early morning banter here at the club. Yesterday was a bit slow in the am....hard to believe, but we really needed that rain. It would have been nice if it stopped a little earlier...but, oh well.
So we got a card game going, watched the 3rd round, and waited for it to stop. Then out on the links.
Today looks a bit more promising, although we had a foggy start.
This year has started out with some strange weather patterns.
Too rainy, too hot, too this, too that. Ugh! What's a girl to do?!
To quote a famous philosopher I know "when in doubt...Grout, baby!" Oy!
Only 13 of the 5-5-5 this morning, ? ...thought we would have more.
Bill and Bob are here for their weekly Sunday round, and a few more are starting to trickle in.
Soon Therese will start to make Jeff his traditional Sunday Morn breakfast, I will feed Jake his daily "nummies" laced with his morning joint medicine, and then it will be time to start waiting on golfers making the turn.
This is my weekend here at "the Dog". All is right in Richfield.
Next week looks to be a busy one.
We are hosting a couple outings this week, one of which I will be participating in.
Saturday is my friend Jill's annual outing hosted by C-town. Some members from the club participate, along with patrons of the grill, many of which I know.
It's a fun day and I'm looking forward to it.
Lot's of Club events still to come for the year. But August is just around the corner.!?
Soon Jeff and I will be talking football, and planning his Annual Football Bash.
Where has the time gone? That age old question.....
Anyway....
that's all I have for now.
Time for me to go downstairs and give Therese a hand.
Hope you can get out soon and enjoy the course.
We look forward to seeing your smiling faces.
Have a good one!

The Open.....
Yesterday was the 2nd Annual "The Open" hosted by Mike Mann and our Jeff.
For the past few weeks they have continually went over the details for the tournament, and it showed.
28 members headed out for the 27 hole competition with plenty of twists and turns. It was a hot one, but everyone managed to stay hydrated with the water pop and beer provided, along with plenty of pizza and hot dogs. And of course "Cookies by Deb". Prizes were awarded, libations flowed and tales of that last putt that wouldn't drop were rehashed.
It was a good day......Thanks Mike and Jeff for a great tournament.
You're both the Bomb!!
It's another hot one out there. Not too busy this morning. Just 13 of the 5-5-5, and of course Bill and Bob are out there for their regular Sunday morning match, followed by a couple of rum and cokes.
Sounds like a good Sunday morn to me.....
Therese is in the back cutting up peppers and onions for the sausage sandwiches provided for the small group we have scheduled at 1:00 today. Jeff is cleaning and lining up the carts, Jake is on the porch soaking up the shade, and I'm here behind the computer once again.
Just another day at "the Dog".....Life is good.
I have a little break before the next events/outings start. I'm hoping to use this time to try to get some rounds in. My game has been a bit rusty as of late...the broken toe didn't help things..Oy!
I need to get my game on for the up coming Annual Firecracker Open this July 4th.
This is one of my favorite events at the club. Two person pick your own team scramble.
Some teams have been competing with the same partner for years. This long standing tradition is being carried on with some of our newer members joining in the competition.
No shortage of ribbing and banter in this event....and the after party is a hoot!
This is how I celebrate this Nations Independence.
Time for me to sign off and get to work.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
Hope to see you soon.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
They say this weekend is the official start of summer, but why does it seem that every Memorial day weekend we end up with frost??? As I sit here posting, I'm overlooking what looks like snow on #10 fairway! Oy! I swear this valley has its own weather pattern!
But the forecast is for sun and high 60's. Not too bad.
Should be a good weekend.
Last week we held our 2nd annual skills challenge at the club. It was a slightly different format from last years, and did require some skills.....which everyone seemed to confess we were lacking,
but everyone seemed to enjoy the day.
Next up is our Member/Guest day, June 2nd. Bring out a friend and enjoy the day.
Jeff's working double time to get the course in tip top shape. But what else is new? He just keeps going and going and going....and Jake just keeps following and following and following....
then he can't get up in the morning....poor guy. They both need a day at the Spa.
Looks like the chilly start to the day has kept some of the golfers from venturing out.
Not real busy this morning, only 12 of the fivers, and of course Bob and Bill are out.
Maybe after the picnics and etc...It will be time to hit the links. We shall see.
That's about all I've got for now. Time for me to get some work done around here.
Enjoy your Holiday. Take time to thank a veteran.
Hope to see you soon.

Jakes Jamboree....
Next time!!
Jake's team of Scooby do and Snoopy came in a close 4th, but out of the running.
Sorry buddy...Good shooting!
Afterward we partook in some of Jake's favorite things, Grill Cheese sandwich's (American Cheese only please), Hot dogs, Pond water (vodka and grapefruit) and $1.00 drafts. Jake also made some of his favorite cookies and provided "doogie bags" for all who participated. He's such a good boy...Gotta Love him! And we do.
Jeff had the course in great condition as usual. The greens were fast, the fairways and rough were plush and green. He's been working so hard (as usual again) and it shows.
Myself and the membership try to remind him of that often, and let him know how greatly he is appreciated. Thank you once again my friend!!! Thanks to all who participated.
So here we are again this Cinco de Mayo Sunday back out on the course trying to fix those hiccups in our swings that seem to pop up now and again. Yikes! I don't why these things happen, but its nice to know a little bit of practice might make perfect. A girl can hope you know!!!
The guys are out (not too many this morning?) and soon they will be in to count those quarters, pay off debts and consume our specials today, Tacos (2 for $5.00), Nachos $5.00 and Margaritas (2 for $5.00). Ive already partook of two tacos (had to train Therese a bit ya know!) so we had to taste test....and soon it will be time to taste test those margaritas, oh boy!
Guess I better get some of my paper work done before taking on that job....oy!
Hope you all enjoy this Sunny Sunday, don't work to hard in that yard, try and make time for a round or two. See ya soon.

3 Club Scramble......
After yet another postponement, we managed to get in the 2nd club event of the year at "the Dog".
The weather forecast for Saturday was not favorable, but Sunday looked promising so we moved it up a day. But guess what.....once again the forecast was wrong!! Go figure..Oy! What was supposed to be a sunny day in the 60's , was a cloudy day in the 40's......
But 28 of us headed out on to links armed only with 2 clubs plus our putters to see what kind of score we could bring in. As I said in a previous post, I think most of us were surprised with the winning score. 8 under took first prize...followed by 7 under. I think this tournament gets many players rethinking their club selection on many a hole. Just what we need, more stuff in our heads standing over the tee box....Yikes!! But at the end of the day, after revisiting each shot hole by hole, and the what ifs, and what could of's over a few libations, while watching the pros show us how it's done at the Masters...the day was a success.
For this I am grateful for many a reason....
Givin the many tragedies occurring in the world right now, and most recently the events at the Boston Marathon, I feel blessed to be able to be working with, and surrounded by a community of friends and family who still believe in the American way....Work hard, be strong, do onto others as you would have done to you....and make the most of each day. God's not making any more, so enjoy each one.
And remember, it doesn't cost anything to smile....pass it on...

Sad Day.....
Many of you have had the pleasure of meeting my dear friends Marc and Kim from the east that make the quarterly pilgrimage to St. Bernard for a visit. With them each time has been their loyal companion Uncle Mahoney (as we call him). Mahoney has gone on to join my Michelob and many other of Gods wonderful creatures who have blessed us with their unconditional love and understanding. He lived a long and joyful life after being adopted by the buffalonians from the local shelter. Though having a slight imperfection, Kimmer and Marc looked past that, and found a true friend who brought joy for many years to them, their children and grand children.
Mahoney filled a void in heart after my Michelob passed and before my Jake came into my life.
For this I will always be grateful.

Happy Easter....
Hope you all found many a Easter egg, and plenty of bunny ears in your magic baskets this morning.....
It looks like you will need to don those Easter bonnets this Sunday morn.
The forecast is for a bit of rain, but not too bad. Could be worse, could be snow....Yikes!
Mother nature cooperated for the second try for the Chili Open at "the dog" yesterday.
Yep, 40 members came in search of birdies and eagles, with a side of chili.
The weather was still a bit cool, but not enough to dampen the spirits of the
golfers who have been hibernating this long cold winter. So we headed out for 9 holes,
came back and partook of the many Chili entries in the chili contest, along with my homemade cookies and of course a few libations...
We had eight entries in all, and the club chili. The voting was close, but in the end Chili #6 (Hermans) came in first, a close second was made by one of our newer (and crazier, but lovable) members, Spence with Chili #2. Jeff's entry #1, actually tied with #2, but he gallantly conceded to Tim. Good cooking guys. Thanks again to all who participated.
It was a great way to start off the 2013 season. Jeff and I are so proud of all of you.....
It makes us happy to see you appreciate the course that you support and we work so hard to maintain and enjoy our time with you.
The next few days don't look conducive for golf, but after that it looks like a long streak of above average temperatures. Lets hope this is the start of something big....
Enjoy your holiday feasts with family and friends.
May your baskets be blessed, and your bunny ears be long.
Ti amo....till it shines!

Missed it by that much......
Once again mother nature pulled another practical joke on us. As of about 3:30 Thursday Jeff and I were sure that the 2013 Chili Open was a go. So I proceeded to make two batch's of chili, and about 200 cookies for the big day, Jeff was out all week primping and cleaning, only to wake up Friday morning to find 2 inches plus of snow on the course....oy! A decision needed to be made, and although we sat and watched the snow melt a bit faster than anticipated, the greens were just not clearing as hoped. So we made the decision to postpone the event for this weekend, March 30th. Never an easy task, as I will always have some think I either did the right thing or the wrong thing. I guess that's why I get paid the big bucks....lol!
But this is how it is running a Golf Course in Northeast Ohio. After many years of dealing with this type thing, I knew there would be some who would not give up hope that the day could be salvaged. So I got up Saturday morning to open up....and lo and behold...Die hards!!
Yep, a few faithful members started out for their own personal Chili Open. It took awhile for the greens to clear, but they did, and the threesome headed out for a day of sun and fun.
In their minds they are clearly the winners of the Chili Open given no other's showed.
And they be right, but they only won back their own entry fee, but still a personal triumph none the less. Afterword they partook in some of the 200 plus cookies I made along with a few libations. All in all a good day. Here's to you boys!!! You Rock you M*&%$#@ Hunchers! Keep up the good work.
So as I sit and watch it snow once again, here's hoping that this Saturday will be conducive to a 9 hole round on the links, followed by some Chili sampling, and some cocktail mixing.
Stay warm everyone....see you soon! Thank you for your continued support.

Won't be long now......
The Chili Open is just around the corner! 14 days and counting.....Saturday March 23rd.
Yee...and might I add...Ha!
The sun has found it's way back to Richfield, which has resulted in some of the members grabbing the sticks and heading out on the links to work on their games. It's nice to see the smiles on their faces as they are looking forward to the 2013 golf season at St. Bernard G.C.
As are Jeff and I!
Jeff has been out all week, raking, clearing debris, and several other chores in anticipation of an early spring. He's like a kid on Christmas eve.....he just keeps going and going and going. Poor old Jake is getting worn out trying to keep up with him. But like Jeff, he'll keep going and then the next day their both exhausted! Oy! That's my boys......gotta love em!
I'm here to make sure they both get fed, and I'm getting the clubhouse ready, along with my other assorted duties. I guess I should grab a club or two and swing away. It seems like an eternity since I've hit the DT Solo around. It might just be dangerous to swing the way I feel right now....Yikes!
Oh well, they say sometimes when you take a break from the game, you might just forget your bad habits and things come together. Hope their right....
Tomorrows forecast is favorable, and it sounds like we might have a good crowd.
The phone has been ringing, people are stopping in, and I believe the season is about to begin.
For this I am truly grateful....
Looks like my guys are coming in now....
Time for the traditional 19th hole libation or two.....
Hope you can get out soon and do the same....
Don't forget the to spring ahead.
Have a great rest of the weekend!

GROUNDHOG DAY.....
Well I guess it was a sure bet that Punxsutawney Phil and Buckeye Chuck would not see their shadow today. Kind of difficult to cast a shadow against the snowflakes. According to folklore, this is good news for us golfers counting the days until we can bring out the sticks and hit the links.
It looks like the snow will stay with us in the near future, but this last month has been proof we can be making pars on the weekend, then back to cleaning snow off windshields during the week.
It's Cleveland..... and anything can happen. Yikes!
I have been keeping myself busy at the club, cleaning, paper work, booking outings, paying bills (of course they don't stop), and various other chores that can't get done in season. I know it sounds crazy to you all, but it seems to me the winter is passing quickly. The Chili Open is just around the corner....how many days???
Jeff has expressed the same feeling, and is very excited about the 2013 season. This from a guy who truly... truly enjoys the winter season. He has vowed to practice his golf game more this year with intent of finally taking First place in the Kramer Memorial that has eluded his long standing team of Pratt, Bratz and Estes. These three guys should have their own reality show. The humor and quick wit they bring to the game is classic. The things that come out their mouths....oy! Gotta love em! I can't wait for the competition. Guess I better get to work on my game. Look out Jeff, my teams is going to give you a run for your money!!! Hear that Rick and Mark?! Get those putters out and practice while your watching the Superbowl. (please?) Thank you.
Yep, tomorrow is the official end of the football season. Superbowl Sunday always makes me and Jeff sad because we both agree there is nothing worth watching on TV after that...
Football season fills a void in our life's on Saturday and Sundays, as we are usually working every weekend, then all of a sudden...now what?! (Oy. We both have to get a life!!)
But then we remember the PGA tour starts up, and all is good again. That is until we watch the tournaments at these plush prominent golf clubs, and start compiling our wish list of things we would like to do at St. B. The list gets longer each week and we start overwhelming ourselves...uggg!
Why do we do this?? Then Jeff says "one thing at a time Deb", then Jake concurs with a nudge at my knee, and all is right in Richfield once again.
Speaking of the PGA tour, I'm going to go veg out in front of the TV and watch the pros duke it out in Arizona. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Good luck on those Superbowl squares. Might get you that new Driver I know you've been eyeing....or putter, or bag.
(or in my case....cat food!) Yes Jeff, I'm feeding the cats!!!
See ya soon.
Drop me a line, or stop in and say hello.

Happy New Year....
Hope you all had a joyous holiday season, and are looking forward to a healthy and prosperous new year. Jeff, Jake, Dad and I are at the club daily as usual getting things ready for a new golf season... its just around the corner! It might not seem that close, but trust me, it won't be long.
I need to get my butt in gear around here...oy! I must admit to being a bit behind in my duties.
I blame it on my annual pilgrimage to Buffalo for News years weekend. Yep, we traveled east to visit with Kim, Marc, and (for those of you who follow my blog regularly, YES..) uncle Mahoney. The old man is still hanging in there, a little bit slower and a little bit grayer. But you gotta love him...he's still standing! God is definitely a dog man..... after all, he sent me Jake didn't he!?
Speaking of Jake, he is loving the snow that has descended upon on us. It's kinda like his Saturday night bath. He rolls around in it until he's nice and white, then back to finding something else to roll in and smell like a boy dog. He's so proud when he walks in here, "Mom...look what I found!!"
Yikes! You gotta love him.
Looks like we might have a brief warm up this week. Just enough I hope to melt the aforementioned snow. 60's by Saturday!? Might get some play in huh?
All the more reason for me to get back to my paperwork.
Just wanted to touch base, and say hello.
Think warm thoughts.
How many days until the Chili Open????
How many days until St. Pattys Day????
Don't forget the 19th hole!

White Christmas.....
I guess it's nice to see snow on Christmas, as long as its gone by New Years....oy!
You never know.
Jeff and Jake are enjoy the great outdoors in the snow, while I hang out inside
getting ready for the holiday feasts.
I'm taking a few days off to get my ducks in a row.
Dad, Jeff and Jake are holding down the fort for a couple of days.
The 19th will open after Christmas....
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.
Think sunny thoughts.
Lets start the countdown for the Chili Open.
Ti amo!!!

So far, so good....
The start of winter this year has been a pleasant surprise, and dare I say, has a resemblance of last years winter? I guess I would be pushing it to hope for a repeat of the 2011/12 winter season....
but a girl can hope. The mild start has resulted in our members getting in a few more rounds for the season and also enjoy the camaraderie of other members during the holiday season.
Many libations have been consumed along with many cookies and other goodies that Golfmama has managed to get prepared in between waiting on customers and other assorted paper work. Yikes!
Jeff and Jake are still out working on the course, and enjoy seeing the smiling faces of the golfers.
I think it gets lonely out there for them when no one is around. Jeff has many lengthy conversations with Jake, and really think's he is hearing Jake converse!? I wouldn't put it past him, he's a very smart dog. Although he does get a bit distracted when a squirrel runs up a tree.....oy!
"Jake, can you say "goose"?!"
I have a few guys out there this morning, and think their about to start rolling in to watch the Browns game and enjoy those aforementioned libations and goodies. I know that's my game plan for the next four hours. How about you?
All is right in Richfield.
Enjoy your Sunday, let your children and family know how much you love them, and live the day to the most....
Hope to see you soon.

Happy Thanksgiving.....

Jeff, Jake and I are here awaiting the golfers looking to get in a quick round before heading off for their holiday feasts with family and friends.
Sounds like a complete day to me.....Golf, Libations, Turkey with all the fixings, then settle in and watch some football.
For this, I am truly grateful.
The forecast is a bit discouraging for the next few days, but don't give up hope.
I believe we will get a few more rounds in this year. I believe, I believe, I believe.....
Tony just walked in, grunted Happy Thanksgiving, and grabbed the paper.
Yep......Things are right in Richfield. Time for me to get jumping.
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Enjoy your time with family and friends.
Don't eat too much, save some room for beer and peanuts at the 19th hole!

Great Weekend.....

But we were able to host the Chili "Closer"on Saturday, and had a delightful Sunday.
24 golfers competed Saturday in the Scramble, and enjoyed the feast after.
There were many great entries for the pot luck contest, but in the end Diane Schusters bean casserole was the winner. Good job girlfriend. Libations were consumed while missed birdie opportunities were relived hole by hole...."missed it by that much!"......yet, sounds like a typical golf tournament to me!
All in all a good day. Thanks to all who participated. You all rock!
Hard to believe that was the last event for the 2012 season. Where did the season go?
Oh well Deb, time to start scheduling the events for 2013.
This sometimes is a challenge.
We try to come up with some new ideas, yet keep the long standing traditional events of years past.
I guess I need to recruit some help. Jeff and I usually work on it with some input from friends, but he is outside hustling to beat the dismal weather forecast for the week ahead. Yikes!
Slow down Jeff......One thing at a time!
And don't worry.... I'll be here making sure you and Jake have some thing for lunch. Oy!
I almost forgot..... A big thank you to all those who served our country.
Happy Veterans Day!
That's all I got for now....Talk with you soon.

Super storm Sandy......
Please let me start my post by saying that my thoughts and prayers are with the people on the east coast that have been impacted by this monumental and historical storm that has left them devastated, and now with the possibility of another storm threatening to hit. Let's hope for the best!!
Here at the Club we have been dealt our share of the wrath of Sandy.....
Numerous trees have been toppled, roof damage and power outages have left Jeff, myself, Jake and Dad scrambling for cover....Yikes!! My time lately as been spent with insurance agents and other officials who keep me on my toes. Rest assured we're here trying to get things back in order with the hope we still can get a few more rounds in for the 2012 season. If not, we still need to get the course ready for the months ahead and the 2013 season.
That's where our savor Jeff comes into play......
That's where our savor Jeff comes into play......
He has faced the damage head on with his usual diligence, and has begun the clean up process.
Its going to take some time....One day at a time.....
Rock on my friend..your the best!!
The storm also resulted in our having to cancel the "Chili Closer" scheduled for Sunday Oct. 28th.
We thought we might try for Nov 3rd, but not to be. But the forecast for the week ahead seems to be headed in the right direction. I think maybe we can try for Saturday Nov. 10th.
Ill send out a e-mail reminder, and start making some calls.
Now it's time for me to get back to my paper work for the Insurance company, and then see if there is anything I can do to help Jeff.
Have a great week everyone......

Chilly Pig Roast...
Sounds like a combination of the "chili open and Pig Roast, but yesterday was just the Annual Pig Roast here at St. Bernard G.C.. The weather was a bit cool and damp for the Noon Scramble held prior to the cooking of the pig. While my Uncle Harry and Tommy attended to porky, the rest of us headed out on the links. It started out fine, but by the 12th hole the rain drops started. Oy!
Didn't last long though, then the sun came out!? , but it was still raining? then the wind picked up....just in time to drop another round of leaves that Jeff and the crew just got done clearing...again Oy! Very strange weather pattern. But, we trudged trough and finished the round.
After warming up with hot Toddy's and other assorted libations we par took in the pork and other fixings and dessert. I don't think anyone went away hungry. We wrapped up the evening with the Reverse Raffle and called it a night. All in all a good day.
So I'm back here this morning chatting with you and getting ready to watch the Browns game.
I know, I know....."good luck with that Deb"! But I need something to grasp onto.
The weather report looks favorable for the next week. Could be that Indian summer I spoke of earlier!? One never knows. Hope you can play hooky from work and squeeze in a round.
Have a great Sunday afternoon everyone. Chat with you some more soon.

So long September...
Where oh where has the year gone? It seems like yesterday I was preparing for the Chili open, now here I sit pondering the Chili "Closer". A couple other events prior though, the Clam Bake is up first, Saturday October 6th. Then the Pig Roast Saturday October 20th.
Mark your calendars.
It's a nice morning here at the moment, but forecasts are predicting rain. I guess that was enough to scare off some Sunday morning golfers because we only have 6 of the 5-5-5, and a couple other regulars. Bob, Bill and Jim are out for their traditional Sunday round, and after will partake in their rum and cokes. Or maybe a bloody Mary or two.
Keep it going guys. You're the Bomb!
We had some excitement here over the last couple of days...
Friday night Hambone aced the 16th hole par 3. He was so excited, you think he had won the lottery. Drinks were purchased for the clubhouse, and his name was proudly posted on the official hole in one board. Way to go Hambone! We're happy for you.
So Saturday rolls around, the 5-5-5 venture out in search of birdies and pars, and low and behold....Zupanc aces the same hole! Two holes in one within 24 hours!
Oy! I just did not have the heart to replace Hambones name on the board.......
Poor guy gets the shot of his life and he only has it posted for 16 hours!?
Zup had the same thought, so I decided they shall share the spot light for awhile.
That is until the next hole in one.....who knows? Could it be you next?
You never know. Keep that dollar in the insurance.
Congratulations to you both. Prime timers still Rock!
Things are slowing down a bit. Most of the leagues have wrapped up, Luncheons and awards ceremonies have been held, and the leaves are turning. All sure signs the regular season is coming to an end. (Bummer!) But don't put those clubs away yet! Were still due an Indian summer, and I don't think we even had a frost yet. My weather page is predicting 70 and sunny by Thursday this week. You can't ask for better that that huh?!
Not much else happening here, Jake's out barking at the air, Judi is meandering around in the kitchen and I'm sitting at my usual table posting. Soon we will be watching and cheering on the USA in the Ryder Cup, and maybe consume a few libations while doing so.......Oy!
All is right in Richfield.
Have a Great Sunday! See you soon.

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.....
After driving in at 5:30 am this morning, hoping that we had a chance to get the Club Championship in, I would still be here hosting golfers this afternoon?! After cancelling the tournament, playing poker with a few friends, then locking up thinking the day is a wash, I go up to the corner to grab some lunch and a few libations, then the sun comes out and members are pulling in left and right.
"Hey Deb, your locked up?...we want to Golf". Go figure...
Just goes to show after 15 years at this, I will never figure out the mind set of the golfer. I've come to the conclusion that its not the weather that dictates when the golfer plays, but the circumstance behind the schedule of the average golfer. ie. Family, friends, work and other daily chores.
So here I am back at the club, watching college football, and thankful for it.
The sun is still out and the winds have picked up, all of which should help dry out the course after the deluge that plummeted us yesterday and this morning. We even had HAIL yesterday afternoon.
This resulted in Jake scouring for cover, along with people pulling off the road looking for shelter for their vehicles....Oy! "St. Bernard Rest Stop, how can we help you?" Now if I could just find a way to charge for these services, ie: directions, rest rooms, turn around. Oh well Deb, remember "do onto others as you would have done onto you". That's what mom always says. Betty has offered may pieces of advice in her lifetime, all of which I think have helped make me a better person in this world. Thanks Mom, I love you!
It looks like this rain is a double edged sword for Jeff. Poor guy can't win some days. Yes, we needed the rain, but too much means he can't mow on schedule. Not enough rain, and he's scrambling to keep the course alive. Hang in there my friend, you're doing great under unfavorable conditions. You are without a doubt the BEST superintendent in the world!!! I thank God everyday for sending you to us.
Onward:
I hate to say it, but it looks like the regular season is coming to a close.....Yikes!!
The leagues will be hosting their end of the year banquets in a couple of weeks, and
only a few more Club events left on the schedule. First up....the NASCAR Bash. September 15th .
Following that, the Clambake, the Pig Roast, then the "Chili Closer".
Check your schedules, and try to pencil in a couple of these events.
But don't even think about putting those clubs away......
Nothing better than hitting the links at "the Dog" in the late fall.
Million dollar views on the course, and million dollar company at the 19th!
Thank you everyone for your continued support.
Have a great rest of the weekend!

TOUCHDOWN!
The 5th Annual NFL Bash was a home run/touchdown/grand slam/slam dunk/scooooooore!
What ever you want to call it, the day was a success. 64 members headed out on beautiful Saturday morning for a day of fun. We scrambled our way around the course after feasting on breakfast with draft beer, then lunch with draft beer, then tailgating with steaks, and of course beer.
As usual Jeff had the course in tip top shape. He decorated the clubhouse, course and carts with all his NFL themed trinkets he has collected over the last 5 years. Each year he has managed to add something new and exciting. This year we added corn hole to the tailgate party. I'm still not so sure about that game, but everyone seemed to have a good time. Many members donated prizes for the event. This allowed us to give away Indians tickets, Browns tickets, Golf balls and other assorted prizes. Everyone received a door prize. A big thanks from Jeff and I to Dave, Jim, Gale, Cory for their donations and everyone else who helped and participated.
Even Jake got a bath for the event. I hardly recognized him when Gale brought him back from the groomer. It didn't last long, but he looked good.
Overall it was a great day.
I will try to put a slide show together and post it soon. Lot's of fun pictures!
I have another outing this morning and the 5-5-5 are out.
It's another pretty morning here and the day looks to be a good one.
Time for me to get back to work. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend.
I look forward to seeing you this week.
Oh yeah!? Has anyone seen the bell? It seems to have gone missing!?

Quite Morning....
Yep, it must be Tuesday, because today is my golf league, and there seems to be a pattern here of rain on Tuesday morning!? What's up with that?! Most of my ladies showed up to see if we had a window to try and get it in, but they have since left. So here I sit enjoying the peace and quite, for a little while anyway.
The weekend was 50/50 for our annual memorial. Saturday was one of those sneaky rains that does not show up on radar, but just keeps misting on and off. Not enough to postpone play, but enough to mess with your game. This resulted in higher scores than in years past, but Sunday was beautiful and the scores posted were favorable. Congratulations to all the winners, and a big thanks to all who participated. Jeff and I just love the Ben Kramer memorial weekend. Hope you do too.....
Onward:
Next up.....Jeff's 5th Annual NFL Bash!!! Saturday August 25th is the date for our guys outing!
Each year Jeff has managed to come up with something new and exciting for this event, and this year he has done it again. I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag, but trust me, we are going to have some fun!!
I don't know where he comes up with these ideas? He must not sleep at night. Oy!
Anyway, the sign up sheet is posted in the clubhouse and it's filling up nicely. Don't let Jeff down now....
sign up today.
That's about all I got for now. One golfer out and hoping for more. The radar is showing some clearing.
Lets hope for some sun.
See ya soon

Careful what you wish for.....
I know we needed the rain but.........wow! It came down in sheets yesterday. I guess mother nature thought she needed to make up for lost time?! Yikes! Ok, that's enough for now please.
A little cool this Saturday morning. Not exactly what I was hoping for the kick off our Annual Ben Kramer memorial weekend. Oh well, what's a girl to do? Deal with it!
Yep, shortly we shall be heading out on the links in search of birdies and eagles.
Two days of golf and fun are on the agenda this weekend at "The Dog".
I shall keep you posted on the details. Back to work.....
Hope you enjoy your weekend.

PGA BASH...
was a blast! 44 golfers headed out on a beautiful Saturday morning in search of birdies and eagles.
Many birdies were made, but only one eagle was posted in the round. This resulted in the only skin for the day. Nice payoff!! A five way tie at 8 under made the scorecard playoff a little difficult to find the winners, but we got it done and the winners were rewarded. Afterward we munched on some homemade goodies, fish & chips and a few libations, then settled in to watch the pros do it. All in all a good day.
We have a nice turn out for the 5-5-5 this morning. 20 of them headed out on another beautiful morning and will be rolling in here soon to watch the last round of the Open. That means soon I will be schlepping beers and making change...."Hey Deb".....
I swear...Judi could be standing right next to me and...."Hey Deb"! Oy!
Oh well, you know I love it! All is right in Richfield.
A few more outings are posted on the board, and that means plenty for me to do.
Let's hope the weather will cooperate for all upcoming events.
A little rain at night, cool mornings and sun for the afternoon...that's not asking too much is it?
What more can a girl ask for? (Maybe to get a round or two in herself?!)
Oh well....time to get back to work.
Have a great rest of the day. Hope to see you soon.

INDEPENDENCE DAY......
Hard to believe it's over already. Where is the summer going?
Soon we will be cheering for the Browns...Oy!. Did I say that out loud? Ooops. anyway....
We celebrated the 4th here at the club with our annual Tournament.
20 teams headed out on to the "steamy" links to scramble their way into the record books of "the Firecracker Open". It was a hot one all right...plenty of water was consumed throughout the day.
Coolers filled with just ice replaced coolers full of beers! Oy...what is wrong with this picture?!!
Judi and Therse were not sure what to do!? They were sweating it out also in that steam oven we call a Kitchen. Sorry girls, thanks for all that you do. You're the BEST!
But we made it through the day, and in the end the winners were rewarded, libations were consumed, and the round was replayed hole by hole. "that putt was..that second shot..missed it by thaaaat much".
And so it goes on........the 19th hole tradition continues on in Richfield. God bless America.......
It looks like another hot and sticky day today, but relief is in sight according to the weather people.
And you KNOW we can believe the weather people. Yikes!!!
80's next week is the prediction. That sure would help Jeff.
He has been scrambling to keep the course alive through this heat and drought.
I know your tired buddy, but you have done a fantastic job....as usual!!! Rock on my friend!
That's about all I have for now. Time to look ahead and see what's on the agenda next...
Hope you can join us on the links soon.

Proud Parents....
Jeff and I are proud to announce the arrival of the newest St. Bernard family....."our sign!"
A work in progress for a couple of years has finally made it to the first phase. A few details need attended to, but we are pleased to have our members and friends welcomed to "The Dog" in such style.
All the credit goes to our Jeff! This was his brain child from the beginning, and he has toiled over every detail from start to finish. We needed to be very creative in the funding of this project, but between the two of us, and a little help from some friends, we were able to pull it off. I have always been so proud of Jeff for all that he does here, and this just another example of his hard work and dedication.
Your the best my friend!!! I am blessed to have you in my life....
The week ahead looks to be a busy one. A few outings are on the schedule, and the weather looks great for the week. Speaking of outings......time for me to get back to work.
Richfield Chamber of Commerce tomorrow...lots to do!
Hope to see you soon.
It's not hard to find us......just look for the "SIGN"!

Jake's Jamboree Jammed!!!
What a great day..... I swear Jake was smiling all day. Great weather shined upon us as 48 golfers came out in celebration of our little boys jubilee. The competition was tough, and some great rounds were posted. All who participated were in contention to place. One of the all girl teams were just 1 putt short of placing. Good shooting Judy, Cindy and Gale, way to show that chick golfers still rock! Keep up the good work.
After golf we partook in some "kibbles and bits" type party food, some "pond water" cocktails and other assorted specials. After all was digested, some continued on and played nine more. All in all a good day....
Big thanks to all who participated. Your continued support of these events is what makes St. Bernard G.C. -aka the "Dog" - a friendly and comfortable place to call home.
Next up.......The Firecracker Open. Wed July 4th.
This event is one of the longest running traditions at the Dog. Generations of teams have carried over for years to battle it out with other long standing rivals, as well as a new generation of members building their own teams and traditions. A two person, pick your own team, Sramble with a minimum handicap of 24 between the two allows members of all levels of handicap to compete. Clever banter, kind hearted kidding, and gentle ribbing are all part of the atmosphere within the event. Not a bad way to celebrate our nations independence before we head off for our family bar-b-ues and apple pie. God Bless America....
Kind of quite here today...
A larger than usual group of the "Prime Timers" were out earlier and enjoyed the solitude of the morning.
Afterward they recapped the round over a couple of pitchers, and deliberated the Memorial tournament this weekend and other current events. Then I guess they were off for their "honey do" lists, or other pressing matters. Rock on guys...
Soon the Monday night teezers will be out for their turn on the links. Hit em' straight Girls!! and not often...
The "4:30 boys" will sneak out before the ladies and get their Monday nine in, then enjoy the evening on the veranda.
Sounds like all is well in Richfield.
Hope you all enjoy your week...the weather looks delightful.
Try to stop in for a round and have a libation or two.
Looking forward to seeing you.

Skills Challenge....
Talk about putting your short game to the test!? Saturdays event surely did that....
Myself and 44 other members set out yesterday to brave the Skills Challenge Jeff and Budman had set up for us. 18 holes of 100 yards or less shots, each one having a "easy" shot or "difficult shot. Points being rewarded for which one chose. I must say, there were some interesting shots pulled off. I'm sure it got many of us rethinking our club selections. Oy! The weather was perfect, the beer was cold and many prizes were rewarded. Big thanks to Jeff and Jim for all their hard work pulling the event together. You guys did Great!
Also thanks to all who participated. Your continued support is always appreciated. All in all it was a good day.
We have another beautiful morning here....The golfers are rolling in ready to take on the course.
Lots of pars and birdies still out there to be had! Maybe even a hole in one?! It's been a while since we have posted a new name on the hole in one board.... Is yours next? You never know! Get on out here and give it a shot.
Time to start thinking about the next event here at "The Dog".
Jake's Jamboree! Our little boy's outing is a three person, pick your own team event.
Food and Drink specials, prizes and maybe even a doggie bag or two, from Jake to you.
It will be held on Sunday June 3rd with a 9:00 shotgun start.
Information is posted in the clubhouse. Hope you can participate.
That's all I got for now....
Time for me to get some paper work done, (I'm losing sight of the top of my desk once again..yikes!),
then back down stairs to give Judi a hand.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Enjoy the weather.....hope you can come on out to say hello and get a round in.....

Member/Guest Day.....
The weather turned out just beautiful, once again proofing how often the forecasts are incorrect. Despite the negative forecast, we had 19 members bring out 19 guests to show off their Home course. We partook in a continental breakfast of Ham sliders, doughnut holes, fruit, home made cookies, coffee and juice, and of course a keg was on the porch. Members played a two person scramble with their guest, then drew another team for a combined score for a foursome. Prizes were awarded for low score twosome, and low score foursome.
Luck of the draw plays a big part in this format. One can go from under par, to over par easily. But it was all for fun for the members and to showcase the club for potential new members. A 2012 social membership was awarded to the guest with the low score for twosome. Welcome aboard Devon......
Jeff and the crew worked very hard (as usual) to get the course in great shape for the event. I heard nothing but compliments on the conditions of the course. So I do believe it was a success. Thank you Jeff.
Your the BEST!
Now it's time to start thinking about the next event.
The 1st annual St. Bernard Skills Challenge will be held this Saturday May 19th.
This event will offer different Skills shots that will award points as to the difficulty of the skill choice.
Sounds complected I know, but its posted in the club house, and explains the Challenge.
Special prizes, 50/50 raffle, food and drink specials and much much more. Hope your calendar is free that day.
It looks like the rest of the week will be gorgeous. I think the Monday Night Teezers and the Tee Timers will finally get in their first official league rounds with out the threat of/and or rain.......Oy! The other leagues have been fairly lucky with the weather and have started out just fine. Lets hope the trend will continue.
Here's looking forward to good spring/summer......and a happy GOLF year for all!!! Ti Aimo......
See You soon....
Personal Note:
I lost a dear friend of mine this last week. Lynell Deviney passed away without warning...She was a kind hearted, beautiful, loving young woman who many loved. I will miss her dearly. I just wanted to acknowledge my condolences once again on this blog to her family and loved ones.

3 Club Scramble....
More like 3 coat scramble! Oy! It was a cold damp one that's for sure.
But......28 brave souls (myself included..Thanks Wally!!!) buckled up, zipped up, wrapped up, and even drank up whatever they could find to keep warm and headed out to take on the course with only 3 clubs.
Well.....2 clubs and a putter really. But either way it makes the round interesting.
Throw in a mist, some wind and cool temperatures, and you got yourself a challenge.
It was interesting to hear the war stories of the participants following the round. "I hit that club and it went", "I think I just found a new club for the par 3's" ect..ect,.. I believe a few people surprised themselves as to what they could do with only three clubs?! Makes you wonder why you spent all that money on all those other clubs?! Yikes!
In the end I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
Give yourselves a big hand everyone, you're real troopers!!!!
Some of us hung around and got a card game going. A few hands of poker, a couple of libations and the day was complete. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday huh?
Next up.........Member/Guest day...Sunday May 13th and following that is our 1st Annual St. Bernard Skills Challenge. Watch for info in the clubhouse for these and other up coming events.
It's still a bit nippy this morning. I'm sitting here wondering if any of the 5-5-5 are going to show.
Forecast for the next couple of days is not at all promising. Sure has been a emotional roller coaster with the weather lately. I told Judi to stay home today and take a day off, I'll mind the store.
Which means I'll probably have to cook hot dogs! I just looooove cooking hot dogs....Oy!
Maybe I'll order in pizza?! I know Jake won't object. "extra pupperoni for me please". (sorry!)
I'm still a little tired from yesterday.
Well, five of the 5-5-5 are out, along with Gary and Ken. Dad's on his computer, Jeff' out shoveling mulch, Jake's running after Jeff and barking at the air, I'm sitting here posting........Sounds like all is right in Richfield once again.
Hope you all have a great Sunday.
Think Spring.....
See you soon

Masters/Easter Weekend....
So far, so good. The mild weather has afforded us the chance to hit the links and pretend we are in Augusta. Visions of par's and birdies dancing through our heads, taking daring shots to save the day, like Phil out of the sand in yesterdays round, sinking 20 foot putts for eagle.....
This is the banter on Easter Sunday morning at St. Bernard.
7 of the 5-5-5 have come out this morning to try once again to play like the pros. I'm sure one or more "fish" story will be told by the end of the day. Oy!
After their round we will turn on the TV , pour a couple of libations, and see how it's really done. Afterward they will be off for Ham and all the fixin's with family and friends.
I'll hold the fort down here and watch for the Easter bunny to bring Jake and I our baskets.
American cheese, water and beef flavored eggs for Jake. Pizza, Michelob light and spicy flavored eggs for Deb!
and don't forget Jeff......Dear Easter bunny, could you please bring Jeff a basket full of new equipment, fertilizer, some power tools, mulch ect..ect..ect.... and maybe some Chocolate bunny ears! Thank you.
Speaking of Jeff....thanks to some input and cleaver thinking by a couple of members and him, we have a couple of new ideas for events here at St. B. Details are being worked out, and we're excited about the possibilities. Watch for the St. Bernard GC "skills challenge" along with others.
The wind has picked up here and the clouds are thick, but a few more souls have ventured out. Soon I will be grilling hot dogs.....Oy!
That's my weekend so far.
Hope you're all enjoying yours.
May your baskets be blessed, your bunny ears be long, and have your loved ones close by.
Hope to see you soon......

Chili Open.....
Not so chilly. The fact that I'm posting while the other 52 people are out golfing indicates that we had one too many players....Bummer for me! Oh well, I'll get to golf one of these days. Boo Hoo Deb!!
52 Golfers....good turn out. The weather has held out and it looks pretty good out there.
Jeff managed to get almost everything cut this week. The warm weather started everything growing right before our eyes. He had to do some scrambling, but he got the job done.
Never a doubt...good job my friend, your the Best!!
We have 8 chili entries this year. Get the Tums ready....Oy!
Well, you're all starting to roll in now....time for me to get to work. Be back soon......
I'm back....a little slow this morning, but I'm here. Yesterday was a good day. It was a nice way to kick off the season. It was so nice, Jeff, I and a few regulars celebrated the day a bit too much.
That's why I'm a little slow. Anyway....
Golf, Chili and few libations were the order of the day. 20 plus participants ventured out for a additional 9 holes. (myself included!) Afterward we finished up the chili , drank a few beers and in the end Chili #3 was voted the best. Ron Saccone. Wally's chili came in a close 2nd place #6.
I thought they were all good. Thank's to all who entered.
Looks like today may be a bit slow. A mist this morning, and lingering clouds have cooled us down a little. Monday is supposed to be cool, but then it looks like we warm back up next week.
Just in time for Easter and the Masters. For many, the Masters is the official kick off of the Golf Season. Let's hope we can get 18 in, then watch and try to learn how the pros do it. Looks so easy on the TV. "I can putt like that!" Yikes.
Were getting some action now.....Golfers coming in the front door, 5-5-5 turning.....
I guess I gotta go cook some hot dogs!!!!!! Oy!
Have a great Sunday everyone. See ya soon!

I'm Scared.......
very scared! I keep waiting for someone to pinch me and wake me out of a dream. Can we have had such a snow less winter?! I can hear a collective sigh of relief from Golf Course proprietors and golfers around Northeast Ohio. This has been a dream!
Some of our Annual members keep track of rounds played month by month and through out the year. The numbers are remarkable compared to last year. How many is it now Gary and Ken?
Let's hope the numbers keep going up.
Aside from having some play all winter long, the nice weather has allowed Jeff to get a head start on getting the course clear of debris and other assorted animal "droppings". He has been out every day on the Steiner, pushing and pulling, raking and trimming, primping and polishing!
He's like a Mom getting her daughter ready for her first formal. Oy! Rock on Jeff.....your the best!
Now if I could just get Jake back in the swing of things, the course should be in mid spring form early for the Chili Open. How many days?
As for me, well let's just say I'm a little behind on my chores. That kitchen keeps calling me, but I seem to find some other project to occupy my day. I power washed the patio ceiling the other day, which of course resulted in my having to wash the windows because of the over spray, which resulted in another and another and yet another job. You all know how that goes!
But it's done and looks pretty good. Although my arms were screaming the next day. Man I'm out of shape! Not to mention the steam facial I gave myself while I was at it. I'm sure I was source of entertainment for the traffic traveling down 303. "What the H@#* is that tall chick donning the yellow rain coat trying to do?" Yikes!!
I received my first entry for the "Team Pride" Contest today. For those of you who don't know yet, I'm holding a contest for the best photo of you, your family or friends donning the St. Bernard Golf logo in a remote or unusual setting. It's kinda like "Flat Stanley". Flat Stanley is a paper doll that young school students give to their parents or grandparents when they travel.
They take a photo of themselves with Flat Stanley on vacation and mail him back with the photo. The photos are posted in the class room, then they learn and discuss geography. Kinda cool.
(Flat Stanley got held hostage in Hawaii one year)....Ooops!
Anyway.... A prize will be reward for the most creative and unusual photo. Jeff is the Judge, and his decision is final. So remember your St. B gear when you travel, and send in those photos.
The first entry came from Zimbawe. Don't ask me where that is, but from what I understand it's 10,000 miles away. Yikes! I need Flat Stanley....
That's all I got for now.....Time for me to go in search of dinner.
Remember...Daylight savings time starts the 11th, then St. Patty's day after that. Both sure signs of Spring. Think Green!!!
How many days?????

Inevitable......
I guess this morning was a wake up call for us golfers. Morning all!!!
We knew it was coming, but when and where has been the $100,000 question for the last few months. Wish I could have predicted and made that bet. But as someone has pointed out to me...my radar has been off kilter lately. Oy! Oh well. Guess we just need to be grateful for the unusually mild winter we have experienced so far this year.
Time for Golfmama to pull out her muck lucks and get started on the winter projects at the club.
In between I will be making contact with the powers to be for all the leagues this season.
Prime Timers, Monday Night Teezers, Tee Timers, Tues Night Mens, Kiwanis, Casual Tees, Longo Boys, Friday Night Couples and 5-5-5......Start your engines. Time to get geared up and Rock this club! Thank you all, and to all the other member/friends who call "The Dog" home.
Our Jeff took advantage of the mild weather to get most of his end of the season projects done, and now he has taken a well earned sabbatical. He has headed up to the "Great State of Michigan" to tackle projects over due for him. Hope you and Jake are having a great time my buddy!!!! But hurry back soon....I miss ya my friend. Give Jake a big kiss for me. I'm sure he misses my lipstick kisses on his nose, along with my left over dinner scrapes in his food dish.
The cats just don't seem to get it......little buggers are hard to catch....Ouch!
Anyway....
We are almost through February, and before you know it, we will be celebrating one of my favorite holidays. St. Pattys day! (all is "Green"that day...my favorite color)
Can you guess why? I bet you can.....
Once we have adorned the shamrocks, chased the leprechauns for their pots-o-gold and drank our green beer.....it will be time to start signing up for the Chili Open. The official kick off for the 2012 golf season at St. Bernard G.C. Golf, libations, multiple flavors of chili with all the fixin's, and friendly camaraderie. What more can a girl ask for?! How many days?
Careful out there shoveling and plowing.
Look at it this way...You're building muscle power that might add a few more yards out on the links. "Silver lining?"
Watch out for that fat little kid with the bow and arrow this week....cupid might end up being a snow angel....Oy! XX's and OO's...
See ya soon.

Closing in.....
on February that is. We're almost done with the first winter month of the year, and so far the white stuff has been minimal. Next up, the shortest winter month. Football is coming to an end, the PGA is ready to kick off and before we know it, the Chili Open will be upon us.
Time to start the count down.
This brief reprieve from the winter blues has resulted in quite a few members continuing to get more rounds in for 2011 and a jump start on the 2012 season. As an added bonus this has also resulted in a few more libation sales. Not a bad thing....every little bit helps. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come for 2012. A girl can only hope!
The continued mild weather has also helped Jeff get his many projects done without having to freeze his butt off. Even though he really does enjoy the winter, he admits this has been pleasant. Rock on Jeff! Although I think Jake is a little confused. One day he's building snow dogs, the next he's working on his tan and chasing squirrels up trees. What's a dog to do?
"Mom...whats for lunch?" seems to be the question of the day. Oy! Gotta love the boy!!
As for me....I must admit I am very behind in my projects, aka cleaning/painting, ect...
As I have described to many, the last year has made feel like I'm in a bad "B" movie. The kind that you see the mouths moving, but the voice is seconds behind..?! I just can't get into rhythm.
I guess I need Jeff to throw a flag on the play and knock me back into sync.
(don't take that literally my friend!) Remember...I still cook your meals! Yikes!
I'll get it together soon. Just need a little motivation (and maybe some B12).
The 19th hole is still open with smiles and warmth, awaiting the hole by hole stories of rounds gone by. Stop in soon and relish in the thoughts of pars and birdies abound .
Hope you are all enjoying the new year and the prospects of good things to come.
Enjoy your time with your family and friends, treasure the moments and live each day one at a time.
Think Spring!
See you on the links!

Welcome 2012...
adios and good ridding to 2011. I'm ready for a new (hopefully dry) year! It's starting out a bit ominous, but long range forecasts are showing warmer temperatures with bouts of coolness scattered around. This I think I can deal with. Better that than the other way around.
Hope you all rang in the New Year in a festive way. Any resolutions? Not me, I just set myself up for failure, and then I get mad at myself. Oy! Who needs that?!
Although Jeff and I made one "resolution/pact"? if you will..... We resolve that this is going to be the best year yet at St. B, and even if we fall short of our goals, we will not let it get ourselves down. If either one of us starts downing a frown, we will smack each other around. Kinda like they show on TV when in group therapy they beat each other up with the foam bats.....Ouch..
I better behave. I suggested we carry yellow flags in our pockets....."Foul on the play!" 15 yard penalty on the field. Reset the clock.
Anyway, that's our resolution for us and you...the members. Without you, we would just be working a "job" at a "Golf Course". But we believe that St. Bernard is so much more than that.
Not just somewhere to go hit the links, but a place where you can come in search of par's, birdies, and a occasional "hole in one"...but also find a friendly face who is willing to ask "How's your day going?" Again....this we resolve to you, and ourselves.
That being said, I had a few members drop by this afternoon in between this post....
Wally, PA John and Tony dropped in at the 19 hole to say hello and bring New Years greetings.
We watched as one of the few heavy snow squalls in the area proceeded to hang over Richfield...Oy! and mentally counted how many provisions (beer!) we had in case we were snowed in....Yikes!
No worry, if all else failed, we could hook Jake up to a sleigh and work our way up 303 for "Snausages" and refills. Gotta love Jake!!!
Wally and I managed to work in some work, and with Jeff's input/approval, we came up with some creative ideas. We hope to implement them in the coming year and welcome any suggestions you may have that can make your membership at St. Bernard G.C. that much more enjoyable. This is the game plan for twenty twelve.
"May all your sweet dreams go unbroken.....may every wish you ever spoken...
come true...this is my prayer for you"
Happy New Year!! Ti Amo!!!!

So far, so good.....
We've managed to escape any abundance of snow here, and even got a few rounds in over the last couple of weeks.? "Thank you Santa...It's just what I wanted!" A few flurries this morning, but nothing significant. I know some of you would prefer snow for the holiday, (Jeff included) but I think I can muddle through and not miss it.
A new year is on the horizon and we're here getting things ready for the 2012 golf season.
Jeff, Dad, Jake and I are keeping busy with our projects. Lots of paper work for me, then the annual break down of the kitchen.....Oy! I HATE that deep fryer.
Jeff has finished with his "thorn in the side" projects, and has moved on to less daunting jobs.
One of which being painting the veranda furniture. With his usual flare for doing things "right" he has transformed it to look like a whole new set.
Thank you my friend, you are the best!
Jake is keeping busy making sure those pesky squirrels scurry up the right trees.
Then he proceeds to stay there and talk to them while the deer and geese pass by......Oy!
He's going to find coal in his stocking if he keeps this up!? That's alright buddy.....I still love you!
Dad has many irons in the fire once again. So It's just best that I step back and let him go.
(and fix his computer every now and again) Yikes!
In between, a few of the members have stopped in for a holiday hello and renew their memberships, along with a few Christmas gifts. One stop shopping.....can't beat it!
Hope you're all done with your holiday shopping and can sit back now and enjoy your friends and family. Tis the season you know....
I know I could use a Holiday cocktail or two. Don't forget the 19th hole is still open part time.
Stop in and say hello. See ya soon!

Stop in and say hello. See ya soon!

December 4th......
and were still golfing!? The sun's out, 15 golfers are out enjoying this unusually warm day in December....Now all I need is a winning Football team and my Sunday would be complete.
2 out of 3 ain't bad!! Small victory's Deb!
Yesterday was nice also. Kind of a cool start, but the afternoon warmed up nicely and we had some play. Who knows maybe I'll be posting the same in January?! One can only hope.
Though the forecast for the next week is unfavorable, they have been wrong before. (go figure!)
So here I sit listening to ESPN and enjoying the peace and quite for the moment.
Soon it will be "Hey Deb, I need........" and I'll be jumping.
But after all the pins and skins are paid out, change is made, envelopes are filled and labeled and libations are served..... it will be time to relax-watch football-and maybe play cards.
All is good.
Jake's here with me wanting some love and attention (or maybe it's cheese he's seeking)
maybe its a little of both?!
Jeff's out in search of Bambi, or the likes of, and Dads reading the paper.
All is right in Richfield once again.
Hope you're all enjoying the weekend. Maybe shopping for the holidays..?
Don't forget the gift of golf....Gift Certificates are always a nice option.
(sorry for the shameless self promotion) A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
Hope to see you soon.

Happy Thanksgiving.....
Lot's to be thankful for....one being the weather!? Who would of thought sun and 50s on Turkey day? Oh wait......I do believe I mentioned something about this in my previous post.
So here I am at the club Thanksgiving morning, posting and waiting for some anxious golfers who want to get in a quick round before heading off for their holiday feasts.
Jake and I were out a little earlier this morning heading off the geese (he needs a little guidance in the morning) but he gets the job done. Bit of fog out there, but I can see the sun trying to peek out. Should be a good day. The forecast for the next couple of days is promising also.
Looks like my holiday preparations are going to be postponed for a while....but that's ok, It's well worth it.
Maybe I'll just have to teach Jeff how to make Christmas candy....Oy! I can see it now.....one for Deb, two for me.....I'll rethink that!
Jeff has headed off for a few days of well earned R&R. Although every time he comes back it sounds like he has done more work than rest. But that makes him happy, so when he's happy, I'm happy. And all is right....
My first golfer has pulled up (one guess who) so it's time for me to get to work.
Hope you all have a "Wonderful" Thanksgiving. Enjoy your Bird....your family and friends..and don't forget the libations!!! See ya soon.

Fall Back.......
Did everybody remember? It's 7:55 and I'm curious to see how many show this morning thinking it's 8:55. "Deb, where's everybody at?" Oooops! Happens every time.
It looks like were going to have a few nice days ahead of us. Kind of an Indian summer Huh?
Jeff was right......he predicted this. And now he's out there hustling around trying to get projects done that had been delayed and postponed due to the........(dare I say the "R" word). Oy! I can't say it.
Anyway, he has managed to get the grass knocked down, the leaves cleared away and keep the greens in their usual speedy condition. Good job my friend! I know it's been rough.
The sun is burning off the frost at a good pace this morning.
Now all we need are some golfers out for those last few rounds.
Shortly the 5-5-5 will start rolling in, and the banter shall begin.....
All will be right in Richfield.
Soon our attention will be turned from hitting the links, toward the up coming holiday festivities.
Let's hope this is one of those years we can experience them both at the same time.
Many a year I have worked Thanksgiving morning.....we would golf, enjoy a couple of beers after and close promptly at Two, and I was off to Moms for Turkey and all the fixins'......
Ahhh..the good old days. One never knows, could happen again. Here's hoping.
Their starting to roll in now, time for me to go in search of some type of breakfast. Slim pickings around here this time of year. Could be a peanut butter kinda morning.
Have a great Sunday. Hope to see you soon.

All good things must come to an end.....
though it's been difficult to see the good things this season. Way too many rainy days!!!
But we managed to squeeze in some tournaments and have a little fun. One of which was the Chili "closer" we hosted Sunday. 30 of us teed it up at Noon, got 18 holes in and partook in the smorgasbord of goodies brought in by each team. We voted on the best pot luck dish entered, then worked on killing the Keg of Yuengling I purchased. Not a easy task as Judi and I had some difficulties getting the tab to flow. " Deb..too much foam...Deb..not enough foam....Deb flowing to slow.... Oy! What a morning. But we worked things out and yet another crisis averted. All in all, a good day.
In the end it was my playing partner Phil who took the prize for best dish.
His homemade Chili had quite a kick to it......Spicy!! Just the way I like it. Although my tummy is talking back at me this morning. Yikes! But it was worth it! Congrat's Phil!
That concludes the scheduled events for 2011 here at St. Bernard G.C.
Where did the year go??? Do we get an Indian summer? Can we throw together a last minute event if the sun comes out and the snow stays away? These and many more questions will be answered in the days ahead. Like sands through an hours glass....these are the days of St. Bernard. Ha!
I know, I know I'm losing it! What can I say? Golfmama needs some help. Ooooh JEFF..........
What would I do without my Jeff??
Stay tuned folks.
Have a great day.

Hold on to your hats......
Like the game is not challenging enough!? Now were dodging leaves whipping at us like small projectiles, and wondering if the flag sticks are going to fly out of the cups like javelins. Oy!
What a round.... But we managed to get the Scramble in yesterday. Conditions were tough, but Jeff and the crew managed to get the course playable despite what mother nature dealt them. Great job guys....you are the bomb!
After we all got in and fixed our HAIR, we settled in and enjoyed the festivities. Football, Roasted pig, raffles, cards and libations.....Did we miss anything? (don't answer that!)
Uncle Harry and Tommy were challenged also with the windy conditions. It was an effort to control the temperature on the cooker and get the roast done on schedule. But they managed to handle the situation, and produce yet another wonderfully cooked meal. Linda, Judi and Therese managed the rest of the operation with their usual efficiency, sides/bar/and of course clean up! Oy! Thanks girls.....I love you! Of course Jake was not far away...(whats that smell mom?) Uncle Harry always wanted me to have children he could spoil.....in comes Jake. The rest is history. Mom came by for the party and of course spent her time in the kitchen helping the girls. This makes her happy, and if she's happy...were all happy. Love you mom!
Also a big thanks to Karen and Wayne for their help with the raffle/ pari-mutual, and to Diane Schuster (aka official photographer/general helper) your unconditional generosity does not go unappreciated. Thanks to ALL who participated.
One more event left ...Chili "closer".... call me for details.
That's all I got for a yet another rainy Sunday. Time to go cheer on the....Browns?..no Lions..no wait... maybe the Bills?.... I'm jumping on somebodies band wagon. Oooops!!!
See ya soon.

Here comes the sun.....
where are my shades?! I can't remember the last time is saw them. Think Deb!
Well I guess by now you have figured out the Scramble/Clambake was a wash out. Yikes...
For a little while Saturday morning it looked like we might sneak it in, but mother nature had other plans. We did however hold the Clambake and Reverse Raffle. 70 of us pigged out on Clams, Steaks, Chicken and assorted side dishes. And of course... plenty of libations. Oy!
We watched Ohio State loose to Michigan St., again oy!, played a little cards (Golfmama kicked butt...thank you very much!) and enjoyed the evening. Big thanks to John Z for his usual expertise at the grill, and thanks to Linda, Judi (and Mom) for handling everything else.
It looks like the sun is going to shine down on us for the rest of the week. We sure could use it to help dry up the course....Ouch! Jeff and the crew are trying to figure out how they are going to get the grass cut!? It's going to be a challenge.... but rest assured they will get the job done.
Best darn crew around!! Rock on Guys.
Next up: Scramble/Pig roast/Reverse raffle, Saturday October 15th. Hope you can join in.
That's all I got for now......Gotta run....See ya soon.

So your a little bit older....
"and a lot less bolder than you used be".... Bob Segar, rock and roll never forgets.
Yep, I had another one of those birthday's yesterday. Like Bill K. said yesterday "if you keep having those birthdays Deb, you'll catch up to me". Oy!
I had some friends stop by for a round of golf and a round or two of libations in celebration. It was a nice day. Thanks guys! And thanks for your support.
Well...it seems as though the the summer is going to end the way it started....WET!
I must say this is the strangest weather year I have seen in my 13 years here.
I know I'm not alone in this thought process. Numerous members have stated this is the least they have played in years. Oh well, deal with it Deb. Can't stop mother nature.
We got the NASCAR Bash in over the weekend. It was a good race....but in the end team Stanfield crossed the finish line with 100 mph, Jeff was right behind with 90 mph, and Jim S.had a close 80 mph. Thanks to all who participated. It was fun.
I would like to once again praise Jeff and his crew for their extraordinary efforts keeping the course in the best shape they can given the situation. Jeff....your the Bomb! Take a break.....enjoy a few days off. You've earned it!!!
I have 4 of the "prime timers"out this morning. It looks like they might just get their round in.
Let's hope for the best.
It's that time of year for Awards luncheons, end of season banquets and parties. This shall keep me, Linda, Therese, Judi, Sarah and Tammy busy for the next few weeks.
Thanks girls, you make me proud.
Next club event: Scramble-Clambake-Reverse Raffle. October 1st.
Hope you can participate.
Time for me to get back to work. Looks like I might need to perfect my "no rain" dance ritual. Not a pretty sight.......think Elaine on Seinfeld?! Oy!
Have a great day.

Labor of love....
that's how I describe my time here some days. It's one of those mornings that Judi and I need to keep each other laughing, or we will drive ourselves nuts. My friends the buffalonians (and Uncle Mahoney) have made their quarterly pilgrimage across I90 for a weekend visit. This always results in my mornings moving just a bit slower than usual. Oy! But not too worry....
it's business as usual this morning. The weather forecast had us wondering how many people would show today? But 14 of the 5-5-5 headed out and are starting to turn.
"Is it going to rain Deb?" is the question of the day. "oh no.....it's not going to rain"
It looks like were going to get a smorgasbord of weather this weekend....92 yesterday, 80's and rain today, and 60's on Monday?! What's up with that?! What a year!!
Only a few more event's left on the schedule for this year.....Yikes! Where did the time go?
Jeff's starting his annual chase the leaves with the Steiner dance, Jake's worn out from chasing the geese that came back?! (where do they come from?) and I'm trimming plants back getting them ready for a winter rest. All of these, along with it being Labor Day weekend, are a sure sign of Autumn to come. Lets hope it's a long one.
We have a few drops of rain outside the window now.....soon the golfers will be coming in and.....
"Deb...you said it wasn't going to rain?!!" Oops!
Time for me to look busy and avoid the wrath.
Hope you all have a great Holiday weekend.
Try to squeeze in some golf between your cookouts and gatherings.
See ya soon.

The Day after....
we couldn't have ordered up better weather for Jeff's 4th annual football bash! What a Day!
Everything was top notch.....Good turn out, weather, food, great prizes and plenty of smiles all around. Even Jake took a trip to the groomer for the big occasion. He wasn't too happy when he got back, but he looks like a new dog. And smells like one too.... yikes!! Jeff and I both could use a trip to the spa after this event. And maybe a bloody mary or two. Ouch.....
I think everyone had a good time. We even had an official photographer come out and take pictures. I can't wait to see them. I'll post them when they come in.
Now the cleanup....oy! I think maybe I might wait until tomorrow to take everything down.
The Friday night couples league are having another Sunday special and they are starting to roll in. Bloody Mary's all around!!!
The 5-5-5 are getting ready to turn, and the day looks to be a busy one. Thank goodness.....
Now if I could just get Judi to wake up... the day should be a good one.
Hope you have a great Sunday. Talk with you soon.

Fall is in the air.....
A little nip in the morning air, the smell of fresh school supplies in every store and Football on the tube.....all spell fall in my world. How about yours? I do love this time of year for many reasons, but mostly because it's ideal golf weather. Whether your walking or riding, the round just feels like all is good. Hope you can get out soon and enjoy the experience.
It's been a while since I posted last. I apologize....I was busy with club events, outings and the usual day to day chores. Let's see if I can get you caught up to date.
August 2011:
Euclid Chemical had a nice time at their outing on the 1st Sunday of the month.
The Ben Kramer Memorial started out on the 13th, then the Fierle group enjoy the rest of the afternoon with golf and steak dinners.
Sunday......2nd round of the Kramer...Oy! We started, but then the sky's opened up and then it just never stopped. We waited and waited and waited. But it just was not meant to happen.
Oh well....next year.
The Senior open enjoyed a good day on Wednesday. They had a nice turn out and afterwards partook in $1.00 drafts and $3.00 hot dogs and fries. All good!!
Casual tees had their annual guest day golf tournament and luncheon on Thursday.
Hope you enjoyed ladies.
Back to back outings this weekend. Yikes!! My dogs are still barking!!
Saturday was C-Town and Sunday was Musketeers. Both days went well, and the weather cooperated. (That usually reduces my stress level!)
That brings us up to date.
Next up on the agenda...Jeff's Annual Football bash!!! Saturday the 27th.
Breakfast, Golf, Prizes and a tailgate afterward.....Sounds like a great day to me!
Some of the members have generously donated some first class prizes this year.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
I can't wait to see what surprises Jeff has for us this year.
Although with the boy's going back to school he has been a little overwhelmed.
Hang in there Jeff.....You're doing a FANTASTIC job!
That's all I've got for now folks. Hope your having a good Monday.
See you soon.

Another one gone......
Yet another month has come and gone. Why is it that the summer months go by so fast, while the winter months seem to double? Mother nature can be so cruel sometimes.
August is upon us, and with that comes Football, the Bridgestone classic at Firestone, our Ben Kramer memorial (all my favorites) but also a tired Tribe. Poor Indians just can't seem to hold on!? Come on guys...we need some glimmer of hope. This could be a trying Buckeye season.
And the Browns.....Oy!
I'm sitting on the porch posting this morning. There's a little nip in the air and the sun is just starting to come out. The mowers haven't started yet, so it's quite peaceful. I do enjoy this time.
Soon the golfers will start rolling in, with visions of pars and birdies in their heads. I do enjoy that time also. (go figure!)
The day looks promising. Plenty of sun is forecast and maybe a little cooler.
Hopefully my day will be busy.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Try and make some time to hit the links.

Only 8 left.......
A little bird told me the other day that there are only 8 weekends left in the summer!? How can that be? We are just now getting caught up from the wrath of the wild spring weather, followed up by the crazy June thunderstorms. Mother nature sure is putting us to the test this year.
But Jeff has dug in with both heals and faced her head on..........Rock on Jeff! You and the crew have done a fantastic job. Keep up the good work.
Ribs were on the menu for the Friday night couples league last night...they had a great turn out, and the weather cooperated. Usually poor John is standing over the grill dodging rain drops and lighting while browning and saucing up the baby backs...Oy! Good job my friend, I see the left overs in the fridge. Breakfast of champions!
Speaking of Friday night, my friend Sarah Y. worked her last night here. She has accepted a teaching position and is moving to FLA. I will miss you girlfriend. Best of luck. I know you will have great success and happiness.
With Sarah moving on, we have a new addition to the St. Bernard Family. Tammy will be working with the Friday night couples. Welcome Tammy. Just jump in with both feet and hang on....you'll fit right in.
The next couple of weeks look to be busy. A couple of outings, club events and league play. Starting first with the Senior Open on Wednesday. Good turn out this month...almost 40!
A big thanks to Ralph M. and Judy W. for their efforts promoting the event and their help organizing the games. You're the best! It should be a fun day.
After that is the next weekend event, the PGA bash. Saturday the 23rd. I'm still working on the details in my head (I know...scary thought huh?) but rest assured I will come up with something.
We will have some fun!
Not much else going on here. The 5-5-5 are starting to turn. Stories of birdies missed, shots gone astray, and general banter are ringing through the club house. Yep.....it's Saturday morning in Richfield!
Time for me to get back to work.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Try and make some time to get out and hit the links.
