Jake's Jamboree Jammed!!!

What a great day..... I swear Jake was smiling all day. Great weather shined upon us as 48 golfers came out in celebration of our little boys jubilee.  The competition was tough, and some great rounds were posted. All who participated were in contention to place. One of the all girl teams were just 1 putt short of placing. Good shooting Judy, Cindy and Gale, way to show that chick golfers still rock! Keep up the good work.
After golf we partook in some "kibbles and bits" type party food, some "pond water" cocktails and other assorted specials.  After all was digested, some continued on and played nine more. All in all a good day....
Big thanks to all who participated. Your continued support of these events is what makes St. Bernard G.C. -aka the "Dog" - a friendly and comfortable place to call home.
Next up.......The Firecracker Open. Wed July 4th.
This event is one of the longest running traditions at the Dog. Generations of teams have carried over for years  to battle it out with other long standing rivals, as well as a new generation of members building their own teams and traditions. A two person, pick your own team, Sramble with a minimum handicap of 24 between the two allows members of all levels of handicap to compete. Clever banter, kind hearted kidding, and gentle ribbing are all part of the atmosphere within the event.  Not a bad way to celebrate our nations independence before we head off for our family bar-b-ues and apple pie. God Bless America....
Kind of quite here today...
A larger than usual group of the "Prime Timers" were out earlier and enjoyed the solitude of the morning.
Afterward they recapped the round over a couple of pitchers, and deliberated the Memorial tournament this weekend and other current events.  Then I guess they were off for their "honey do" lists, or other pressing matters. Rock on guys...
Soon the Monday night teezers will be out for their turn on the links. Hit em' straight Girls!! and not often...
The "4:30 boys" will sneak out before the ladies and get their Monday nine in, then enjoy the evening on the veranda.
Sounds like all is well in Richfield.
Hope you all enjoy your week...the weather looks delightful.
Try to stop in for a round and have a libation or two.
Looking forward to seeing you.

Skills Challenge....

Talk about putting your short game to the test!? Saturdays event surely did that....
Myself and 44 other members set out yesterday to brave the Skills Challenge Jeff and Budman had set up for us. 18 holes of 100 yards or less shots, each one having a "easy" shot or "difficult shot. Points being rewarded for which one chose.  I must say, there were some interesting shots pulled off. I'm sure it got many of us rethinking our club selections. Oy! The weather was perfect, the beer was cold and many prizes were rewarded. Big thanks to Jeff and Jim for all their hard work pulling the event together. You guys did Great!
Also thanks to all who participated. Your continued support is always appreciated. All in all it was a good day.

We have another beautiful morning here....The golfers are rolling in ready to take on the course.
Lots of pars and birdies still out there to be had! Maybe even a hole in one?! It's been a while since we have posted a new name on the hole in one board.... Is yours next? You never know! Get on out here and give it a shot.

Time to start thinking about the next event here at "The Dog".
Jake's Jamboree! Our little boy's outing is a three person, pick your own team event.
Food and Drink specials, prizes and maybe even a doggie bag or two, from Jake to you.
It will be held on Sunday June 3rd with a 9:00 shotgun start.
Information is posted in the clubhouse. Hope you can participate.

That's all I got for now....
Time for me to get some paper work done, (I'm losing sight of the top of my desk once again..yikes!),
then back down stairs to give Judi a hand.
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Enjoy the weather.....hope you can come on out to say hello and get a round in.....

Member/Guest Day.....

The weather turned out just beautiful, once again proofing how often the forecasts are incorrect. Despite the negative forecast, we had 19 members bring out 19 guests to show off their Home course.  We partook in a continental breakfast of Ham sliders, doughnut holes, fruit, home made cookies, coffee and juice, and of course a keg was on the porch.  Members played a two person scramble with their guest, then drew another team for a combined score for a foursome. Prizes were awarded for low score twosome, and low score foursome.
Luck of the draw plays a big part in this format. One can go from under par, to over par easily. But it was all for fun for the members and to showcase the club for potential new members.  A 2012 social membership was awarded to the guest with the low score for twosome. Welcome aboard Devon......
Jeff and the crew worked very hard (as usual) to get the course in great shape for the event. I heard nothing but compliments on the conditions of the course.  So I do believe it was a success. Thank you Jeff.
Your the BEST!

Now it's time to start thinking about the next event.
The 1st annual St. Bernard Skills Challenge will be held this Saturday May 19th.
This event will offer different Skills shots that will award points as to the difficulty of the skill choice.
Sounds complected  I know, but its posted in the club house, and explains the Challenge.
Special prizes, 50/50 raffle, food and drink specials and much much more. Hope your calendar is free that day.

It looks like the rest of the week will be gorgeous. I think the Monday Night Teezers and the Tee Timers will finally get in their first official league rounds with out the threat of/and or rain.......Oy!  The other leagues have been fairly lucky with the weather and have started out just fine. Lets hope the trend will continue.
Here's looking forward to good spring/summer......and a happy GOLF year for all!!!  Ti Aimo......
See You soon....

Personal Note:
I lost a dear friend of mine this last week. Lynell Deviney passed away without warning...She was a kind hearted, beautiful,  loving young woman who many loved. I will miss her dearly. I just wanted to acknowledge my condolences once again on this blog to her family and loved ones.

3 Club Scramble....

More like 3 coat scramble! Oy! It was a cold damp one that's for sure.
But......28 brave souls (myself included..Thanks Wally!!!) buckled up, zipped up, wrapped up, and even drank up whatever they could find to keep warm and headed out to take on the course with only 3 clubs.
Well.....2 clubs and a putter really. But either way it makes the round interesting.
Throw in a mist, some wind and cool temperatures, and you got yourself a challenge.
It was interesting to hear the war stories of the participants following the round. "I hit that club and it went", "I think I just found a new club for the par 3's" ect..ect,..  I believe a few people surprised themselves as to what they could do with only three clubs?!  Makes you wonder why you spent all that money on all those other clubs?! Yikes!
In the end I think everyone enjoyed themselves.
Give yourselves a big hand everyone, you're real troopers!!!!
Some of us hung around and got a card game going.  A few hands of poker, a couple of libations and the day was complete.  Not a bad way to spend a Saturday huh?
Next up.........Member/Guest day...Sunday May 13th and following that is our 1st Annual St. Bernard Skills Challenge. Watch for info in the clubhouse for these and other up coming events.

It's still a bit nippy this morning. I'm sitting here wondering if any of the 5-5-5 are going to show.
Forecast for the next couple of days is not at all promising.  Sure has been a emotional roller coaster with the weather lately.  I told Judi to stay home today and take a day off,  I'll mind the store.
Which means I'll probably have to cook hot dogs! I just looooove cooking hot dogs....Oy!
Maybe I'll order in pizza?! I know Jake won't object. "extra pupperoni for me please". (sorry!)
I'm still a little tired from yesterday.
Well,  five of the 5-5-5 are out, along with Gary and Ken.  Dad's on his computer, Jeff' out shoveling mulch, Jake's running after Jeff and barking at the air, I'm sitting here posting........Sounds like all is right in Richfield once again.
Hope you all have a great Sunday.
Think Spring.....
See you soon

Masters/Easter Weekend....

So far, so good. The mild weather has afforded us the chance to hit the links and pretend we are in Augusta. Visions of par's and birdies dancing through our heads, taking daring shots to save the day, like Phil out of the sand in yesterdays round, sinking 20 foot putts for eagle.....
This is the banter on Easter Sunday morning at St. Bernard.
7 of the 5-5-5 have come out this morning to try once again to play like the pros. I'm sure one or more "fish" story will be told by the end of the day. Oy!
After their round we will turn on the TV , pour a couple of libations, and see how it's really done. Afterward they will be off for Ham and all the fixin's with family and friends.
I'll hold the fort down here and watch for the Easter bunny to bring Jake and I our baskets.
American cheese, water and beef flavored eggs for Jake. Pizza, Michelob light and spicy flavored eggs for Deb!
and don't forget Jeff......Dear Easter bunny, could you please bring Jeff a basket full of new equipment, fertilizer, some power tools, mulch ect..ect..ect.... and maybe some Chocolate bunny ears! Thank you.

Speaking of Jeff....thanks to some input and cleaver thinking by a couple of members and him, we have a couple of new ideas for events here at St. B. Details are being worked out, and we're excited about the possibilities. Watch for the St. Bernard GC "skills challenge" along with others.

The wind has picked up here and the clouds are thick, but a few more souls have ventured out. Soon I will be grilling hot dogs.....Oy!
That's my weekend so far.
Hope you're all enjoying yours.
May your baskets be blessed, your bunny ears be long, and have your loved ones close by.
Hope to see you soon......

Chili Open.....

Not so chilly. The fact that I'm posting while the other 52 people are out golfing indicates that we had one too many players....Bummer for me! Oh well, I'll get to golf one of these days. Boo Hoo Deb!!
52 Golfers....good turn out. The weather has held out and it looks pretty good out there.
Jeff managed to get almost everything cut this week. The warm weather started everything growing right before our eyes. He had to do some scrambling, but he got the job done.
Never a doubt...good job my friend, your the Best!!
We have 8 chili entries this year. Get the Tums ready....Oy!
Well, you're all starting to roll in now....time for me to get to work. Be back soon......

I'm back....a little slow this morning, but I'm here. Yesterday was a good day. It was a nice way to kick off the season. It was so nice, Jeff, I and a few regulars celebrated the day a bit too much.
That's why I'm a little slow. Anyway....
Golf, Chili and few libations were the order of the day. 20 plus participants ventured out for a additional 9 holes. (myself included!) Afterward we finished up the chili , drank a few beers and in the end Chili #3 was voted the best. Ron Saccone. Wally's chili came in a close 2nd place #6.
I thought they were all good. Thank's to all who entered.

Looks like today may be a bit slow. A mist this morning, and lingering clouds have cooled us down a little. Monday is supposed to be cool, but then it looks like we warm back up next week.
Just in time for Easter and the Masters. For many, the Masters is the official kick off of the Golf Season. Let's hope we can get 18 in, then watch and try to learn how the pros do it. Looks so easy on the TV. "I can putt like that!" Yikes.
Were getting some action now.....Golfers coming in the front door, 5-5-5 turning.....
I guess I gotta go cook some hot dogs!!!!!! Oy!

Have a great Sunday everyone. See ya soon!

I'm Scared.......

very scared! I keep waiting for someone to pinch me and wake me out of a dream. Can we have had such a snow less winter?! I can hear a collective sigh of relief from Golf Course proprietors and golfers around Northeast Ohio. This has been a dream!
Some of our Annual members keep track of rounds played month by month and through out the year. The numbers are remarkable compared to last year. How many is it now Gary and Ken?
Let's hope the numbers keep going up.
Aside from having some play all winter long, the nice weather has allowed Jeff to get a head start on getting the course clear of debris and other assorted animal "droppings". He has been out every day on the Steiner, pushing and pulling, raking and trimming, primping and polishing!
He's like a Mom getting her daughter ready for her first formal. Oy! Rock on Jeff.....your the best!
Now if I could just get Jake back in the swing of things, the course should be in mid spring form early for the Chili Open. How many days?

As for me, well let's just say I'm a little behind on my chores. That kitchen keeps calling me, but I seem to find some other project to occupy my day. I power washed the patio ceiling the other day, which of course resulted in my having to wash the windows because of the over spray, which resulted in another and another and yet another job. You all know how that goes!
But it's done and looks pretty good. Although my arms were screaming the next day. Man I'm out of shape! Not to mention the steam facial I gave myself while I was at it. I'm sure I was source of entertainment for the traffic traveling down 303. "What the H@#* is that tall chick donning the yellow rain coat trying to do?" Yikes!!

I received my first entry for the "Team Pride" Contest today. For those of you who don't know yet, I'm holding a contest for the best photo of you, your family or friends donning the St. Bernard Golf logo in a remote or unusual setting. It's kinda like "Flat Stanley". Flat Stanley is a paper doll that young school students give to their parents or grandparents when they travel.
They take a photo of themselves with Flat Stanley on vacation and mail him back with the photo. The photos are posted in the class room, then they learn and discuss geography. Kinda cool.
(Flat Stanley got held hostage in Hawaii one year)....Ooops!
Anyway.... A prize will be reward for the most creative and unusual photo. Jeff is the Judge, and his decision is final. So remember your St. B gear when you travel, and send in those photos.
The first entry came from Zimbawe. Don't ask me where that is, but from what I understand it's 10,000 miles away. Yikes! I need Flat Stanley....

That's all I got for now.....Time for me to go in search of dinner.
Remember...Daylight savings time starts the 11th, then St. Patty's day after that. Both sure signs of Spring. Think Green!!!
How many days?????

Inevitable......

I guess this morning was a wake up call for us golfers. Morning all!!!
We knew it was coming, but when and where has been the $100,000 question for the last few months. Wish I could have predicted and made that bet. But as someone has pointed out to me...my radar has been off kilter lately. Oy! Oh well. Guess we just need to be grateful for the unusually mild winter we have experienced so far this year.
Time for Golfmama to pull out her muck lucks and get started on the winter projects at the club.
In between I will be making contact with the powers to be for all the leagues this season.
Prime Timers, Monday Night Teezers, Tee Timers, Tues Night Mens, Kiwanis, Casual Tees, Longo Boys, Friday Night Couples and 5-5-5......Start your engines. Time to get geared up and Rock this club! Thank you all, and to all the other member/friends who call "The Dog" home.

Our Jeff took advantage of the mild weather to get most of his end of the season projects done, and now he has taken a well earned sabbatical. He has headed up to the "Great State of Michigan" to tackle projects over due for him. Hope you and Jake are having a great time my buddy!!!! But hurry back soon....I miss ya my friend. Give Jake a big kiss for me. I'm sure he misses my lipstick kisses on his nose, along with my left over dinner scrapes in his food dish.
The cats just don't seem to get it......little buggers are hard to catch....Ouch!

Anyway....
We are almost through February, and before you know it, we will be celebrating one of my favorite holidays. St. Pattys day! (all is "Green"that day...my favorite color)
Can you guess why? I bet you can.....
Once we have adorned the shamrocks, chased the leprechauns for their pots-o-gold and drank our green beer.....it will be time to start signing up for the Chili Open. The official kick off for the 2012 golf season at St. Bernard G.C. Golf, libations, multiple flavors of chili with all the fixin's, and friendly camaraderie. What more can a girl ask for?! How many days?

Careful out there shoveling and plowing.
Look at it this way...You're building muscle power that might add a few more yards out on the links. "Silver lining?"
Watch out for that fat little kid with the bow and arrow this week....cupid might end up being a snow angel....Oy! XX's and OO's...
See ya soon.

Closing in.....

on February that is. We're almost done with the first winter month of the year, and so far the white stuff has been minimal. Next up, the shortest winter month. Football is coming to an end, the PGA is ready to kick off and before we know it, the Chili Open will be upon us.
Time to start the count down.

This brief reprieve from the winter blues has resulted in quite a few members continuing to get more rounds in for 2011 and a jump start on the 2012 season. As an added bonus this has also resulted in a few more libation sales. Not a bad thing....every little bit helps. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come for 2012. A girl can only hope!
The continued mild weather has also helped Jeff get his many projects done without having to freeze his butt off. Even though he really does enjoy the winter, he admits this has been pleasant. Rock on Jeff! Although I think Jake is a little confused. One day he's building snow dogs, the next he's working on his tan and chasing squirrels up trees. What's a dog to do?
"Mom...whats for lunch?" seems to be the question of the day. Oy! Gotta love the boy!!
As for me....I must admit I am very behind in my projects, aka cleaning/painting, ect...
As I have described to many, the last year has made feel like I'm in a bad "B" movie. The kind that you see the mouths moving, but the voice is seconds behind..?! I just can't get into rhythm.
I guess I need Jeff to throw a flag on the play and knock me back into sync.
(don't take that literally my friend!) Remember...I still cook your meals! Yikes!
I'll get it together soon. Just need a little motivation (and maybe some B12).

The 19th hole is still open with smiles and warmth, awaiting the hole by hole stories of rounds gone by. Stop in soon and relish in the thoughts of pars and birdies abound .
Hope you are all enjoying the new year and the prospects of good things to come.
Enjoy your time with your family and friends, treasure the moments and live each day one at a time.
Think Spring!
See you on the links!

Welcome 2012...

adios and good ridding to 2011. I'm ready for a new (hopefully dry) year! It's starting out a bit ominous, but long range forecasts are showing warmer temperatures with bouts of coolness scattered around. This I think I can deal with. Better that than the other way around.
Hope you all rang in the New Year in a festive way. Any resolutions? Not me, I just set myself up for failure, and then I get mad at myself. Oy! Who needs that?!
Although Jeff and I made one "resolution/pact"? if you will..... We resolve that this is going to be the best year yet at St. B, and even if we fall short of our goals, we will not let it get ourselves down. If either one of us starts downing a frown, we will smack each other around. Kinda like they show on TV when in group therapy they beat each other up with the foam bats.....Ouch..
I better behave. I suggested we carry yellow flags in our pockets....."Foul on the play!" 15 yard penalty on the field. Reset the clock.

Anyway, that's our resolution for us and you...the members. Without you, we would just be working a "job" at a "Golf Course". But we believe that St. Bernard is so much more than that.
Not just somewhere to go hit the links, but a place where you can come in search of par's, birdies, and a occasional "hole in one"...but also find a friendly face who is willing to ask "How's your day going?" Again....this we resolve to you, and ourselves.

That being said, I had a few members drop by this afternoon in between this post....
Wally, PA John and Tony dropped in at the 19 hole to say hello and bring New Years greetings.
We watched as one of the few heavy snow squalls in the area proceeded to hang over Richfield...Oy! and mentally counted how many provisions (beer!) we had in case we were snowed in....Yikes!
No worry, if all else failed, we could hook Jake up to a sleigh and work our way up 303 for "Snausages" and refills. Gotta love Jake!!!
Wally and I managed to work in some work, and with Jeff's input/approval, we came up with some creative ideas. We hope to implement them in the coming year and welcome any suggestions you may have that can make your membership at St. Bernard G.C. that much more enjoyable. This is the game plan for twenty twelve.

"May all your sweet dreams go unbroken.....may every wish you ever spoken...
come true...this is my prayer for you"
Happy New Year!! Ti Amo!!!!

So far, so good.....

We've managed to escape any abundance of snow here, and even got a few rounds in over the last couple of weeks.? "Thank you Santa...It's just what I wanted!" A few flurries this morning, but nothing significant. I know some of you would prefer snow for the holiday, (Jeff included) but I think I can muddle through and not miss it.
A new year is on the horizon and we're here getting things ready for the 2012 golf season.
Jeff, Dad, Jake and I are keeping busy with our projects. Lots of paper work for me, then the annual break down of the kitchen.....Oy! I HATE that deep fryer.
Jeff has finished with his "thorn in the side" projects, and has moved on to less daunting jobs.
One of which being painting the veranda furniture. With his usual flare for doing things "right" he has transformed it to look like a whole new set.
Thank you my friend, you are the best!
Jake is keeping busy making sure those pesky squirrels scurry up the right trees.
Then he proceeds to stay there and talk to them while the deer and geese pass by......Oy!
He's going to find coal in his stocking if he keeps this up!? That's alright buddy.....I still love you!
Dad has many irons in the fire once again. So It's just best that I step back and let him go.
(and fix his computer every now and again) Yikes!
In between, a few of the members have stopped in for a holiday hello and renew their memberships, along with a few Christmas gifts. One stop shopping.....can't beat it!
Hope you're all done with your holiday shopping and can sit back now and enjoy your friends and family. Tis the season you know....
I know I could use a Holiday cocktail or two. Don't forget the 19th hole is still open part time.
Stop in and say hello. See ya soon!

Sunday, December 4, 2011

December 4th......

and were still golfing!? The sun's out, 15 golfers are out enjoying this unusually warm day in December....Now all I need is a winning Football team and my Sunday would be complete.
2 out of 3 ain't bad!! Small victory's Deb!
Yesterday was nice also. Kind of a cool start, but the afternoon warmed up nicely and we had some play. Who knows maybe I'll be posting the same in January?! One can only hope.
Though the forecast for the next week is unfavorable, they have been wrong before. (go figure!)
So here I sit listening to ESPN and enjoying the peace and quite for the moment.
Soon it will be "Hey Deb, I need........" and I'll be jumping.
But after all the pins and skins are paid out, change is made, envelopes are filled and labeled and libations are served..... it will be time to relax-watch football-and maybe play cards.
All is good.

Jake's here with me wanting some love and attention (or maybe it's cheese he's seeking)
maybe its a little of both?!
Jeff's out in search of Bambi, or the likes of, and Dads reading the paper.
All is right in Richfield once again.

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend. Maybe shopping for the holidays..?
Don't forget the gift of golf....Gift Certificates are always a nice option.
(sorry for the shameless self promotion) A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.
Hope to see you soon.

Happy Thanksgiving.....

Lot's to be thankful for....one being the weather!? Who would of thought sun and 50s on Turkey day? Oh wait......I do believe I mentioned something about this in my previous post.
So here I am at the club Thanksgiving morning, posting and waiting for some anxious golfers who want to get in a quick round before heading off for their holiday feasts.
Jake and I were out a little earlier this morning heading off the geese (he needs a little guidance in the morning) but he gets the job done. Bit of fog out there, but I can see the sun trying to peek out. Should be a good day. The forecast for the next couple of days is promising also.
Looks like my holiday preparations are going to be postponed for a while....but that's ok, It's well worth it.
Maybe I'll just have to teach Jeff how to make Christmas candy....Oy! I can see it now.....one for Deb, two for me.....I'll rethink that!
Jeff has headed off for a few days of well earned R&R. Although every time he comes back it sounds like he has done more work than rest. But that makes him happy, so when he's happy, I'm happy. And all is right....
My first golfer has pulled up (one guess who) so it's time for me to get to work.
Hope you all have a "Wonderful" Thanksgiving. Enjoy your Bird....your family and friends..and don't forget the libations!!! See ya soon.

Fall Back.......

Did everybody remember? It's 7:55 and I'm curious to see how many show this morning thinking it's 8:55. "Deb, where's everybody at?" Oooops! Happens every time.
It looks like were going to have a few nice days ahead of us. Kind of an Indian summer Huh?
Jeff was right......he predicted this. And now he's out there hustling around trying to get projects done that had been delayed and postponed due to the........(dare I say the "R" word). Oy! I can't say it.
Anyway, he has managed to get the grass knocked down, the leaves cleared away and keep the greens in their usual speedy condition. Good job my friend! I know it's been rough.
The sun is burning off the frost at a good pace this morning.
Now all we need are some golfers out for those last few rounds.
Shortly the 5-5-5 will start rolling in, and the banter shall begin.....
All will be right in Richfield.

Soon our attention will be turned from hitting the links, toward the up coming holiday festivities.
Let's hope this is one of those years we can experience them both at the same time.
Many a year I have worked Thanksgiving morning.....we would golf, enjoy a couple of beers after and close promptly at Two, and I was off to Moms for Turkey and all the fixins'......
Ahhh..the good old days. One never knows, could happen again. Here's hoping.

Their starting to roll in now, time for me to go in search of some type of breakfast. Slim pickings around here this time of year. Could be a peanut butter kinda morning.
Have a great Sunday. Hope to see you soon.

All good things must come to an end.....

though it's been difficult to see the good things this season. Way too many rainy days!!!
But we managed to squeeze in some tournaments and have a little fun. One of which was the Chili "closer" we hosted Sunday. 30 of us teed it up at Noon, got 18 holes in and partook in the smorgasbord of goodies brought in by each team. We voted on the best pot luck dish entered, then worked on killing the Keg of Yuengling I purchased. Not a easy task as Judi and I had some difficulties getting the tab to flow. " Deb..too much foam...Deb..not enough foam....Deb flowing to slow.... Oy! What a morning. But we worked things out and yet another crisis averted. All in all, a good day.
In the end it was my playing partner Phil who took the prize for best dish.
His homemade Chili had quite a kick to it......Spicy!! Just the way I like it. Although my tummy is talking back at me this morning. Yikes! But it was worth it! Congrat's Phil!
That concludes the scheduled events for 2011 here at St. Bernard G.C.
Where did the year go??? Do we get an Indian summer? Can we throw together a last minute event if the sun comes out and the snow stays away? These and many more questions will be answered in the days ahead. Like sands through an hours glass....these are the days of St. Bernard. Ha!
I know, I know I'm losing it! What can I say? Golfmama needs some help. Ooooh JEFF..........
What would I do without my Jeff??
Stay tuned folks.
Have a great day.

Hold on to your hats......

Like the game is not challenging enough!? Now were dodging leaves whipping at us like small projectiles, and wondering if the flag sticks are going to fly out of the cups like javelins. Oy!
What a round.... But we managed to get the Scramble in yesterday. Conditions were tough, but Jeff and the crew managed to get the course playable despite what mother nature dealt them. Great job guys....you are the bomb!
After we all got in and fixed our HAIR, we settled in and enjoyed the festivities. Football, Roasted pig, raffles, cards and libations.....Did we miss anything? (don't answer that!)
Uncle Harry and Tommy were challenged also with the windy conditions. It was an effort to control the temperature on the cooker and get the roast done on schedule. But they managed to handle the situation, and produce yet another wonderfully cooked meal. Linda, Judi and Therese managed the rest of the operation with their usual efficiency, sides/bar/and of course clean up! Oy! Thanks girls.....I love you! Of course Jake was not far away...(whats that smell mom?) Uncle Harry always wanted me to have children he could spoil.....in comes Jake. The rest is history. Mom came by for the party and of course spent her time in the kitchen helping the girls. This makes her happy, and if she's happy...were all happy. Love you mom!
Also a big thanks to Karen and Wayne for their help with the raffle/ pari-mutual, and to Diane Schuster (aka official photographer/general helper) your unconditional generosity does not go unappreciated. Thanks to ALL who participated.
One more event left ...Chili "closer".... call me for details.
That's all I got for a yet another rainy Sunday. Time to go cheer on the....Browns?..no Lions..no wait... maybe the Bills?.... I'm jumping on somebodies band wagon. Oooops!!!
See ya soon.

Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Here comes the sun.....

where are my shades?! I can't remember the last time is saw them. Think Deb!
Well I guess by now you have figured out the Scramble/Clambake was a wash out. Yikes...
For a little while Saturday morning it looked like we might sneak it in, but mother nature had other plans. We did however hold the Clambake and Reverse Raffle. 70 of us pigged out on Clams, Steaks, Chicken and assorted side dishes. And of course... plenty of libations. Oy!
We watched Ohio State loose to Michigan St., again oy!, played a little cards (Golfmama kicked butt...thank you very much!) and enjoyed the evening. Big thanks to John Z for his usual expertise at the grill, and thanks to Linda, Judi (and Mom) for handling everything else.
It looks like the sun is going to shine down on us for the rest of the week. We sure could use it to help dry up the course....Ouch! Jeff and the crew are trying to figure out how they are going to get the grass cut!? It's going to be a challenge.... but rest assured they will get the job done.
Best darn crew around!! Rock on Guys.
Next up: Scramble/Pig roast/Reverse raffle, Saturday October 15th. Hope you can join in.
That's all I got for now......Gotta run....See ya soon.

So your a little bit older....

"and a lot less bolder than you used be".... Bob Segar, rock and roll never forgets.
Yep, I had another one of those birthday's yesterday. Like Bill K. said yesterday "if you keep having those birthdays Deb, you'll catch up to me". Oy!
I had some friends stop by for a round of golf and a round or two of libations in celebration. It was a nice day. Thanks guys! And thanks for your support.
Well...it seems as though the the summer is going to end the way it started....WET!
I must say this is the strangest weather year I have seen in my 13 years here.
I know I'm not alone in this thought process. Numerous members have stated this is the least they have played in years. Oh well, deal with it Deb. Can't stop mother nature.
We got the NASCAR Bash in over the weekend. It was a good race....but in the end team Stanfield crossed the finish line with 100 mph, Jeff was right behind with 90 mph, and Jim S.had a close 80 mph. Thanks to all who participated. It was fun.
I would like to once again praise Jeff and his crew for their extraordinary efforts keeping the course in the best shape they can given the situation. Jeff....your the Bomb! Take a break.....enjoy a few days off. You've earned it!!!
I have 4 of the "prime timers"out this morning. It looks like they might just get their round in.
Let's hope for the best.
It's that time of year for Awards luncheons, end of season banquets and parties. This shall keep me, Linda, Therese, Judi, Sarah and Tammy busy for the next few weeks.
Thanks girls, you make me proud.
Next club event: Scramble-Clambake-Reverse Raffle. October 1st.
Hope you can participate.
Time for me to get back to work. Looks like I might need to perfect my "no rain" dance ritual. Not a pretty sight.......think Elaine on Seinfeld?! Oy!
Have a great day.

Labor of love....

that's how I describe my time here some days. It's one of those mornings that Judi and I need to keep each other laughing, or we will drive ourselves nuts. My friends the buffalonians (and Uncle Mahoney) have made their quarterly pilgrimage across I90 for a weekend visit. This always results in my mornings moving just a bit slower than usual. Oy! But not too worry....
it's business as usual this morning. The weather forecast had us wondering how many people would show today? But 14 of the 5-5-5 headed out and are starting to turn.
"Is it going to rain Deb?" is the question of the day. "oh no.....it's not going to rain"
It looks like were going to get a smorgasbord of weather this weekend....92 yesterday, 80's and rain today, and 60's on Monday?! What's up with that?! What a year!!
Only a few more event's left on the schedule for this year.....Yikes! Where did the time go?
Jeff's starting his annual chase the leaves with the Steiner dance, Jake's worn out from chasing the geese that came back?! (where do they come from?) and I'm trimming plants back getting them ready for a winter rest. All of these, along with it being Labor Day weekend, are a sure sign of Autumn to come. Lets hope it's a long one.
We have a few drops of rain outside the window now.....soon the golfers will be coming in and.....
"Deb...you said it wasn't going to rain?!!" Oops!
Time for me to look busy and avoid the wrath.
Hope you all have a great Holiday weekend.
Try to squeeze in some golf between your cookouts and gatherings.
See ya soon.

The Day after....

we couldn't have ordered up better weather for Jeff's 4th annual football bash! What a Day!
Everything was top notch.....Good turn out, weather, food, great prizes and plenty of smiles all around. Even Jake took a trip to the groomer for the big occasion. He wasn't too happy when he got back, but he looks like a new dog. And smells like one too.... yikes!! Jeff and I both could use a trip to the spa after this event. And maybe a bloody mary or two. Ouch.....
I think everyone had a good time. We even had an official photographer come out and take pictures. I can't wait to see them. I'll post them when they come in.
Now the cleanup....oy! I think maybe I might wait until tomorrow to take everything down.
The Friday night couples league are having another Sunday special and they are starting to roll in. Bloody Mary's all around!!!
The 5-5-5 are getting ready to turn, and the day looks to be a busy one. Thank goodness.....
Now if I could just get Judi to wake up... the day should be a good one.
Hope you have a great Sunday. Talk with you soon.

Fall is in the air.....

A little nip in the morning air, the smell of fresh school supplies in every store and Football on the tube.....all spell fall in my world. How about yours? I do love this time of year for many reasons, but mostly because it's ideal golf weather. Whether your walking or riding, the round just feels like all is good. Hope you can get out soon and enjoy the experience.

It's been a while since I posted last. I apologize....I was busy with club events, outings and the usual day to day chores. Let's see if I can get you caught up to date.
August 2011:
Euclid Chemical had a nice time at their outing on the 1st Sunday of the month.
The Ben Kramer Memorial started out on the 13th, then the Fierle group enjoy the rest of the afternoon with golf and steak dinners.
Sunday......2nd round of the Kramer...Oy! We started, but then the sky's opened up and then it just never stopped. We waited and waited and waited. But it just was not meant to happen.
Oh well....next year.
The Senior open enjoyed a good day on Wednesday. They had a nice turn out and afterwards partook in $1.00 drafts and $3.00 hot dogs and fries. All good!!
Casual tees had their annual guest day golf tournament and luncheon on Thursday.
Hope you enjoyed ladies.
Back to back outings this weekend. Yikes!! My dogs are still barking!!
Saturday was C-Town and Sunday was Musketeers. Both days went well, and the weather cooperated. (That usually reduces my stress level!)

That brings us up to date.
Next up on the agenda...Jeff's Annual Football bash!!! Saturday the 27th.
Breakfast, Golf, Prizes and a tailgate afterward.....Sounds like a great day to me!
Some of the members have generously donated some first class prizes this year.
I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
I can't wait to see what surprises Jeff has for us this year.
Although with the boy's going back to school he has been a little overwhelmed.
Hang in there Jeff.....You're doing a FANTASTIC job!
That's all I've got for now folks. Hope your having a good Monday.
See you soon.

Another one gone......

Yet another month has come and gone. Why is it that the summer months go by so fast, while the winter months seem to double? Mother nature can be so cruel sometimes.
August is upon us, and with that comes Football, the Bridgestone classic at Firestone, our Ben Kramer memorial (all my favorites) but also a tired Tribe. Poor Indians just can't seem to hold on!? Come on guys...we need some glimmer of hope. This could be a trying Buckeye season.
And the Browns.....Oy!
I'm sitting on the porch posting this morning. There's a little nip in the air and the sun is just starting to come out. The mowers haven't started yet, so it's quite peaceful. I do enjoy this time.
Soon the golfers will start rolling in, with visions of pars and birdies in their heads. I do enjoy that time also. (go figure!)
The day looks promising. Plenty of sun is forecast and maybe a little cooler.
Hopefully my day will be busy.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Try and make some time to hit the links.
See ya soon!

Only 8 left.......

A little bird told me the other day that there are only 8 weekends left in the summer!? How can that be? We are just now getting caught up from the wrath of the wild spring weather, followed up by the crazy June thunderstorms. Mother nature sure is putting us to the test this year.
But Jeff has dug in with both heals and faced her head on..........Rock on Jeff! You and the crew have done a fantastic job. Keep up the good work.
Ribs were on the menu for the Friday night couples league last night...they had a great turn out, and the weather cooperated. Usually poor John is standing over the grill dodging rain drops and lighting while browning and saucing up the baby backs...Oy! Good job my friend, I see the left overs in the fridge. Breakfast of champions!
Speaking of Friday night, my friend Sarah Y. worked her last night here. She has accepted a teaching position and is moving to FLA. I will miss you girlfriend. Best of luck. I know you will have great success and happiness.
With Sarah moving on, we have a new addition to the St. Bernard Family. Tammy will be working with the Friday night couples. Welcome Tammy. Just jump in with both feet and hang on....you'll fit right in.
The next couple of weeks look to be busy. A couple of outings, club events and league play. Starting first with the Senior Open on Wednesday. Good turn out this month...almost 40!
A big thanks to Ralph M. and Judy W. for their efforts promoting the event and their help organizing the games. You're the best! It should be a fun day.
After that is the next weekend event, the PGA bash. Saturday the 23rd. I'm still working on the details in my head (I know...scary thought huh?) but rest assured I will come up with something.
We will have some fun!
Not much else going on here. The 5-5-5 are starting to turn. Stories of birdies missed, shots gone astray, and general banter are ringing through the club house. Yep.....it's Saturday morning in Richfield!
Time for me to get back to work.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Try and make some time to get out and hit the links.

Firecracker Open......

I can not believe the Firecracker Open has come and gone....Where did the time go? I feel like I was just planning for the Chili Open the other day. Next thing you know, we will be getting ready for the NFL bash. Oy! You know what that means......Fall will be here soon....and we all know what follows that...Yikes!!! Sorry.......
Anyway, the Firecracker Open was a great success. The weather was good, we had a nice turn out (20 teams) which meant for a nice purse. The competition was tough, all the teams were in contention. As you can see by the photo's the winning score was a surprise!? -4 took 1st place?
Just goes to show, drive for show....putt for dough! Truer words could not be spoken about the greens at St. Bernard G.C. Thanks to Jeff and his crew for all of their hard work, dedication and attention to details that make this club what it is today.
We have a couple more events before the NFL Bash, starting with the PGA Bash July 23rd, and after that the Ben Kramer Memorial August 13th and 14th. This being one of Jeff's favorite events.....two days of golf and fun....what more can a guy ask for? Don't answer that!!!
Lot's for me to think about in the up coming weeks. I have a few outings along with the Club events that need attention, along with the usual daily work schedule.
But the good news is the weather looks like it will be nice for quite some time, and hopefully every one's schedule will allow them to get out and enjoy the links.....if not....MAKE the time!
You know you can.....and I know, I need to follow my own advice!!!
Have a great day! See you soon.

Sunny Sunday Morning.....

at least partly sunny. But I'll take it! Small steps...one day at a time.
We have a lull in the action right now, so Judi and I are sitting here discussing what kind of car she wants to buy. I told her I'm not the best person to ask about that, given my track record with vehicles. Yikes! She has her heart set on a blue Chevy. Baby blue? Navy blue? I think she needs one of those cars at the circus that pulls up and 100 people get out!?.....being the clown that she is!! She sure can make me laugh, even when I'm felling blue. Keep up the good work girlfriend.
The 5-5-5 are starting to roll in. Soon we will hear the sound of quarters bouncing off the tables, taps being played on the handicap computer and stories of the missed putts, clubs flying and the usual masculine banter. In the end......all will be right in Richfield.
Time for me to get back to work. Don't forget to get your Firecracker team together.
Monday the 4th.......
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Woof.......

Two paws up for Jake's first annual Jamboree. The weather was a little cool, but aside from that we were able to get our round in. We snacked on dogie bag cookies, Hot dogs, grilled cheese (only American cheese please!), and partook of some libations of "Michelob" beer and a drink in Jake's honor called the "Pond Water"......Grey "goose" and grapefruit. That crazy dog will drink anything. That's my dog!!!!....Lol!
Short post today. I have 105 people here today for the Annual Richfield Chamber of Commerce outing. The morning has been quite busy. They are all out on the course now, so I have snuck up to my office to get some work done. We have a couple more outings coming up this week, Starting with the 10th annual Ted Kruse memorial this Saturday. Always a great day!
Ted is always looking down on us and smiling.
After that is the Monday Night Teezers guest night, and the next club event is the Firecracker Open on the 4th of July. Lot's for Deb to do........a girls work is never done.
Have great week everyone!

Memorial Day Weekend......

Seems like it should be Easter weekend with this wacky weather. I do believe we have had every weather element imaginable the last couple of months. Rain, Down pours, wind, hail, fog and even a couple of tornado threats thrown in for good measure. Oy! Jeff and the crew have had their hands full that's for sure. Remember that game as a kid "pick up sticks"? well that sums up the last couple of weeks here for the crew.
Just when they get caught up....Bam! Hang in their guys, things will break soon.
Oops....bad choice of words! Sorry.
Red Rover, Red Rover, let Jeffery come over......

The Monday night teezers had a brush with the weather this last Monday...as did the Wed night leagues. It was quite scary out there for them, as it was for the girls in here. Poor Sarah and Judi both are in their second and third year here, and neither have had to deal with this type of excitement all at once. But with the help of Jeff and the cooperation of the members in the leagues, they fumbled their way through and got the job done. You Rock Girls!!!
And by the way Jeff.......you make a cute cocktail waitress!! Maybe next time show some cleavage and you might make some tips. Yikes!
The weather forecast looks much better for the week ahead. Hopefully things will dry out soon and we can turn that frown face to a smile face on the cart rules sign. I sound like a broken record......Cart path only please. Thank you. Chin up Deb!
Anyway,
Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend. Enjoy your friends/family, picnics, party's, weddings? or whatever is on your schedule. Hopefully you will still have some time for the links.
Take time to remember and thank all those men and women in our armed forces who protect us daily and those who sacrificed for what we have today.

Happy Memorial Day!

SPLAT......

That was the sound heard through out the course yesterday as 72 members and guest's headed out for our annual Member/Guest day scramble. Oy! Not exactly the way we wanted to introduce the club to new potential members. But being the troopers they are, they pushed on and got the round in. Afterwards we hung out, ate, drank and award prizes and tried to get warm. (Good thing I bought the big Keg!) I think aside from the weather and tough course conditions everyone seemed to have a good time. In the end Chris Gobleck and his guest Chris carded the best score for two person scramble. Five under.....good shooting guys. The guest prize was a social membership to the Club. I think he was truly thrilled. Welcome to the club Chris. You're a great addition to the family.
Thank you to all who participated.

Now......if we could just turn off the water works we might be able to get things rolling here.
Monday night teezers were called off AGAIN today, which means Judi and Sarah are called off AGAIN, (this is truly a trickle down affect), so here I sit watching Jake sleeping in the corner (even he doesn't want to go outside) I'm afraid he might just sink in the fairway if I send him out. Yikes! What's a girl to do?
OK.....enough bitch'n Deb! Deal with it girl. Time to put on my boots and come out fighting......
But which ones? Brown with pink polka dots, or blue and black plaid? What goes best with mud??? Oy!
Hang in there everybody......It's gotta break soon.
Have a good one!

Tournament hits home run for the win!

We managed to get the M.L.B. Bash in yesterday despite mother natures best attempts to push us to our limits......rain, wind and cooler temperatures were the order of the week. This combination was a challenge for Jeff and the crew. After two weeks of back breaking work, the course was in great early season shape.......but not so fast guys......Wednesday nights wind storm put them back to square one, with additional damage. Oy! But as usual Jeff put on his game face and pressed on to get the course playable for Saturdays event. You Rock Jeffery!!!!
We had 40 golfers participate in the Schramble. It seemed like everyone had a good time.
Hot dogs, peanuts, cracker jacks and plenty of libations were consumed. I know I did my part as soon as I was done tallying the scores.........yikes! Always a challenge! But with help from Wally and Josh we got the job done. In the end Roger Howard's team won the ball game with 7 runs.
Diane Schuster in the money again! Way to go girlfriend! I'm proud of you.
Keep up that great putting. Thank you to all who participated.
Onward........next event, Member/Guest day. Sunday May 15th.
Start thinking about who you want to invite. Complimentary Green fees for your guest, along with other goodies, games and specials.

Today looks tricky...The weather channel predicts one thing and my radar shows another.
What to do? Bring in Dottie...don't bring in Dottie? Come on Sun!!!!
Mama needs a........new pair of shoes?
Hang in there everyone. The sun has to come out some time. So they say anyway!
See you soon. Happy Sunday!

Easter Sunday.....

and it looks like my Easter bonnet will be a rain bonnet.....yikes!
Yellow is just not my color.
I'm sitting here with Jeff and Jake wondering when this will quit?! Jeff and the crew have got the course in great shape despite having to do it dodging rain drops. Now all we need are some golfers out to enjoy it. Yesterday's surprise sun appearance got a few members motivated to come out and get a round in before heading back home to get ready for their holiday feast.
It was nice to talk with everyone and find out how they celebrate Easter. Many different traditions and dinner menus, but all the same in one fact..... its all about family. Nice!
We hope you and your family have a wonderful day.
May your basket's be filled with eggs, your tummy filled with ham and your bunny ears be long.
Look forward to seeing you soon.

I'm not sure, but I think I just saw the Easter bunny float by in a boat gathering animals two by two..........Oy!

April showers bring......

Deb down! Ouch....what is with this rain? Yet another tournament needs to be rescheduled. The M.L.B. Bash has been postponed for April 30th. Just when the Indians are on a roll, giving Cleveland sports fans a glimpse of hope, the Masteres keeps us tuned in for yet another exciting round, we all head out to hit the links with visions of pars and birdies in our heads. But then.... Mother nature says, not so fast guys.....you haven't paid your dues yet! What more can she want? I'm afraid to ask. Oy! On the up side....Jeff and the crew have the course in impeccable shape for this early in the season. Although in Jeff's mind he can only see the things that need attention. This is what makes him , in my mind, the best superintendent in the world!!!! We know what needs done buddy, hang in there.....remember...one thing at a time! The long hard winter has taken a toll on the course, but with time and a little help from our friends, we will prevail and come out looking better than ever! This is our promise to you the members, and to ourselves, because this is not only a business, but a family atmosphere that we want to maintain for years to come. We hope you agree, and will continue to participate and enjoy all that St. Bernard Golf Club has to offer you, your family, and guests. Dad, myself, Jeff, Jake and the rest of the crew wish you all a Happy Easter..... Wishing you many eggs in your baskets, and plenty of chocolate bunny ears. Look out for that screwy rabbit.........because trix are for kids.

Welcome back to St. Bernard G.C.

It's official.... the 2011 season has started. We got the Chili open in yesterday despite the crummy weather forecast. After I rescheduled it from last weekend to this weekend, I was a bit nervous about the weather. But it turned out great , and we had a good turn out. 40 Golfers came out.... we golfed, partook in a few libations, and pigged out on Chili, cheese and crackers and other goodies. A big thanks to everyone who made a batch of their favorite chili recipe for the chili contest. 8 entries in all, and in the end Chili #4 (Jerry Schuster) was the winner. Chili #8 (Jerry Lopez) came in a close second. Good Cooking guys. I might put you to work here......yikes! I think everyone had a good time. I know Jake did. He's been laying around here all day just like a dog after a Thanksgiving dinner. No goose chasing today. Take a break buddy, you've earned it! We had quite a few new members participate in the competition, and I believe you the loyal followers made them feel welcome. Thank you to all who played. Also a big thanks to Wally and Pa John for their help in making the day run smoothly. Thanks to Linda and Therese for taking care of things in the clubhouse so I could go out and compete in the match. What would I do without my girls?! Speaking of which..... we have a new addition to the St. B crew/family....Dottie. Dot's first day was today, she followed Judi around learning the lay of the land, and getting broke in the only way you can here......SINK OR SWIM.....Oy! She handled it like a trooper. Even the fact that our day started out with Judi's first day back having a bird fly into the window while she checked out the scores from the tournament (Ouch! ) What a way to start a day?! New girl enters........ Dottie: "Ok, what can I do to start?" Judi: "Clean up on the porch" Dottie: "Ok, where's the shovel?" What a trooper........Welcome Dottie. It's cooled off and rained here, so I think I will lock up and head home now. Have a great rest of the day everyone. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Chili Open?....or Frozen Open?

When life gives you Lemons..........

What's a girl to do? Who knows? I guess we just need to sit back and hope for the best. Meanwhile Jeff is out busting his butt mowing, picking up sticks and in general just trying to get the course in mid season form for the first event of the season. The delay of the Chili Open was a disappointment not only for many members, but also for Jeff, Dad,myself and the staff . On the upside.... It has given us (mainly Jeff) a chance to get the course/club ready for a great day of fun. The forecast has fluctuated so often over the last few days that I have to believe that everything will be just fine. If not?......well then we will just have to find a way to entertain ourselves! Yikes! Wii anyone? How about some poker? I might even be able to dig up a old Twister game......again....Yikes!! Either way, Thanks for hanging in there everyone. You are ALL truly the best members (aka) friends a girl can have. Jake, and all the crew are looking forward to seeing you this Saturday. Think Sunny thoughts.......and add some spice to that chili. GOLFMAMA likes it hot!

SPRING BEGINS!

It's official.......at least that's what the calender reads, and the Buzzards of Hinckley predict. Now if we can just get mother nature to agree, we are on our way.
St. Patty's day turned out many golfers eager to hit the greens of the course and the green in the beer. It was nice to hear the comical banter of the 5-5-5 again, and many other members hang out after a round and shoot the breeze. They are back in mid season form.
(yes you! you M.....H....er's!)

Jeff has been out getting the course back in shape. Little by little he is making progress.
"One Job at a time Deb!" He sure has the right attitude. He is confident he will have the course ready for the Chili Open. Rock on Jeff......your the Bomb!!!!!
Speaking of the Chili Open.....only 6 days left! Early predictions showed sunny and 40's....
I'll take it!
We had some play this morning. About 15 people out there, and it looks like we should see a few more trickle in this afternoon. Should be a good day.

Jeff just came in looking for something to eat, and Jake follows......back to work!
All is right in Richfield!
Have a great Sunday! See you soon.
And......yes Laurie we have a side bet..... Get those $$$$$'s out!!

Monday, March 7, 2011

18 Days and counting.....

until the Chili Open! Counting down in days verses weeks is encouraging, although this March coming in like a lion and out like a lamb (or is it the other way around?) has me a bit uneasy. Just when we get some rain to wash away the winter "whites", slam....we get another round. This is a source of frustration for Jeff for sure. Just when he gets the equipment up and running after a long winter hibernation and is ready to go out and pick up sticks, clear the greens and assess the winter damage, Mother nature gives us another blanket of snow. Ugggggggg! He was able to walk the course Friday and check out what the last freak winter thunder?/storm left behind for the course......
NOT GOOD! The creeks must have looked like the upper Gauley river in West Virgina. The banks are littered with golf balls, debris and things we can't identify, I think maybe even Jimmy Hoffa might have washed up!? Oy! St. Bernard white water rafting anyone?
But not even this has discouraged our Jeff. He was here over the weekend and first thing this morning ready to face the challenge head on!! Go get em' buddy, I'm right behind you!
Rest assured he will have the place ready for that early spring play.

I've spoken with some of the League chair persons over the last couple of weeks, getting ready to kick off the opening luncheons/dinners ect...... again a sure sign that spring is around the corner. Linda and the girls are anxious to get back to work and see everyone. The camaraderie of association with the membership makes this a pleasant work atmosphere for all of us. We thank you for your continued support, and look forward to a great golf season.

Weather Chanel calls for fifties and cloudy tomorrow. Snow should be gone, and maybe we can get some sticks picked up and swing some sticks.
Just as Jeff and I are sitting here postings this........"who's that out on #10?"
It's Roger.........shag bag in hand, walking around hitting balls. (the power of suggestion..)Rock on Roger! Grab a few sticks while you're out there......(redundant?)
Swing looks like mid season form buddy.....Keep at it!

Ok, time to lock up and go home. Think spring everyone. Get those clubs out of the garage and in your trunks. It won't be long!

Friday, February 18, 2011

Almost.......

Still a little of the white stuff hanging around, but enough green spots to at least hit the ball around. The phone has been ringing off the hook with anxious golfers ready to awake from hibernation. I know I have been like a bear this winter.....sleepy and cranky! Oy!
Even though the forecast is for colder temps again, just this little break with some sun is just what the doctor ordered. A light at the end of the tunnel.

Jeff has hit the ground running this morning. I caught him trying to get the push blower started and after many attempts, he had to step back and think. (do you think he was swearing?)
Sorry my friend. But he's out there now cleaning up sticks and debris of some sort.
I'm sure Jake and him are both smiling. At least until tomorrow when he'll be sore from doing too much to soon. Pace yourself buddy......I NEED you!

Got a couple brave souls out there right now getting the cob webs out of their swing.
Hope they put on their hip waders. It is WET! No roll today boys.
But I bet the greens will hold!? Yikes.

Phones ringing again.......not quite there, but some playable holes ect...
Nice to hear some friendly voices though. It was getting kinda lonely around here.
BUT, it won't be long.......it's almost time for that little lucky charms dude to show his face.
Hopefully he will leave a bit of his pot o' gold around here. (or maybe a rainbow or two?)
Maybe it's like Santa.....leave a plate of Corned beef and a glass of green beer on the tee box???
Worth a shot.....if nothing else, Jake can eat the sandwich and I'll take care of the beer. Hey Now!
How many days, hours, minutes?
Hang in there.................See you soon!

Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Snow's still here......?

Couldn't anyone get rid of all this white stuff while I was away?
Geeze......Do I have to do everything!?
Well I'm back from a few days of R&R with my friend Laurie (or as I call her now "Sandy") I'm sure you all can figure that one out!
We flew down to the land of sun, fun, Golf, Disney, Crocodiles and that famous race track called Daytona Speedway.
We covered the fun, saw some sun and attempted the Golf. I even spotted a crocodile.
(from a quite a distance I might add, Yikes!)
As I said in my previous post, Laurie's friend Laurel who we were golfing with is a teaching pro...this I knew. But what I didn't know was our fourth in the group Fran, is also a teaching pro. Talk about intimation. Bad enough I had to work hard not to give up Fike dollars to Lauire, I had two pros watching my ugly swing. Oy!
But really, they were both the friendliest people you could ever meet. After my whining about how I cant find Michelob light in this stupid state, they were kind enough to find me a six pack somewhere. We bonded right away!! We made some great shots on the courses and drank a few along the way. Shooter every time we make birdie.......ok, getting kinda parched......shooter for every par? bogey?...you get the picture.
I'm sure this was a factor in what helped Ms. Johnson collect TWO Fike dollars. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! It had nothing to do with the three birdies she had on the back nine in our last round. Good Shooting girlfriend!! Needless to say we had a good time.
Back to the real world..........
Not much has changed here since I was gone. Jeff's still down the shop working on something or another, Jakes going back from the shop to the clubhouse wondering when he can chase some geese and get some cheese, and I'm still shuffling paper work, cleaning up and counting the days until the Chili Open. How many???????
Hope you're all staying warm and having visions of golf swings in your head.
Have a great week and THINK SPRING!

Play off Sunday

What are your predictions? Do you have a favorite team you are pulling for? I must admit I really don't, but I'm going to be sorry to see football season end. It seems like a long time between the end of football and the beginning of Golf season. I know the PGA schedule has started out west....but for me it's hard to watch and then go into work and look at all the snow on the course. Kind of a tease.... Oh well Deb, deal with it!

Not much going on this week. I started my cleaning chores, and Judi has come in to help me get the kitchen, club house and locker rooms cleaned up. Not a easy task when there is no heat in the lower locker room. Burrrrrr....poor Judi had her hands full, but she worked hard and got the job well done. Thanks girlfriend....
I spoke with Linda this week. She had her surgery and the doctor said it went well. Her knee was in worse shape then they anticipated, and she is still in great pain. But she is on her way to recovery and hopefully she will be good as new soon. Hang in there girl!
Jeff took some well deserved time off this week and traveled north to work on his cabin.
This brings him great pleasure, but I sure wish he would sit down and relax a little.
What ever makes you happy buddy. Watch out for those breakers!
Jake, Dad and I are holding down the fort. Jake is loving the snow, Dad is plowing it away and I'm counting the days until the Chili Open....How many?

On the up side....after much deliberation, my friend Lori has convinced me to take a few days off for some R&R. So shortly we shall head south to FLA for a few days on the Links. She has a friend who lives there and we will hang with her. And get this......she's a teaching pro!
Just my luck....I haven't swung a club since November, and I'm going to play golf with a pro!?
Can I say "FORE".....oy! I think I might lose a few Fike dollars on this trip. (I can hear you laughing Johnson!!) Don't count those dollars yet, you know how I hate to part with them.
I hope my clubs haven't forgotten what to do......head down Deb!
On that note....
It's time for me to start getting my clubs together and dig out the golf clothes that have been put away for the winter. What to take? Whats the weather like there? Skorts? pants? which golf shoes? Do they have Michelob down there???? Oy....such drama!
I'll post the results.

Stay warm everyone. I hope you can sneak away also and swing the sticks.
Golf will be back in Richfield before you know it.
How many days?

Happy New Year.....

and Happy Birthday to our guy Jeff! Yes, Jeff is going to be another year older this Tuesday.......
(don't worry buddy, I won't say which one) like a fine wine, you just get better with age!!
Not only with what you have done with the course, but also your attitude in life and what you bring into it.....Your the bomb!! Keep up the good work.
Jeff, Josh, Dad and I have had many a conversation of projects that need be done, along with things we would like to have done.... all of which are on the planning board. Our heads are spinning.....but as Jeff said "one at a time Deb", and that's the motto for the new year!

I spoke with Linda today. Her knee surgery was postponed due to complications....
Poor thing is in so much pain she had a difficult holiday season. But they finally set a date, and she is scheduled for next week. We all send our love and prayers for you girlfriend....you'll be good as new soon!

As for Jake...????? he has been a bad boy for a couple of days........he is wondering where he should not wonder....he is making me quite nervous, too close to the road! We scolded him severely, but I think we need to plant some decoys deep down the fairway to keep him busy. I think he has done such a good job that he's bored .......(just like a boy!...oy!)
Don't worry, we will make him tow the line!

We had a temporary reprieve over the holiday season, the snow melted, the sun came out, and a couple of die hard golfers stopped and wiped the cobwebs out of their swing.
It's amazing what a little bit of sun, close to 40 degree temperatures, and a well maintained golf course will do for a golfers mind set..... kind of like a adrenaline rush. (we've all been there!)
Let's hope for another!

As for me......I snuck away for a couple days for New Years Eve. We made our annual passage across I90 and shuffled off to Buffalo. A couple of days with our friends Kimmer, Marc and Uncle Mahoney is just what I needed to relax a bit and think about the up coming year.
Even 220 miles away, they are among some of the biggest supporters of the club......
St. Bernard East?!... why not! I due believe that there is a St. Bernard G.C. hat hanging among the many paraphernalia at the world famous Anchor Bar Inn (home of the original Buffalo wings) Thank you my friends.....love you all!!
Onward....
It's time for me to ruin my FIRST (and probably last) manicure that my friend Kimmer treated me to for Christmas....those lovely evening gloves I spoke of earlier are calling my name, and the kitchen needs some attention. First up.......the DEEP FRYER.... Oy!

Keep thinking spring....and don't forget the 19th hole. ( I could use some help....Yikes!)
Super bowl predictions????????

HO HO HO.......

Have you been naughty or nice? Hopefully a little of both, the combination is essential for keeping ones sanity. At least that's what I've been told......I'll work on both. Oy!
That's Kona above.... you don't want a lump of his coal in your stocking, so you better be good....Yikes!
We're still snowed in here, the white stuff starting falling a couple of weeks ago and just won't stop!? We had a delivery the other day, the driver looked out the window and said "Oh, what a beautiful view"... I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder!? Call me crazy (shut up!), but I prefer the course to be Green, not White!! Oh well, I guess I need to take Jeff, Josh and Jake's attitude.....It's not going away, enjoy it. Haven't seen much of the boys lately.....they are hurrying to get all the equipment maintained and put to bed for the winter. Just like a couple of Santa's elves. Yikes...I just got a visual of Jeff with green pointy toe slippers with bells on the end, and a green pointed hat! (sorry Jeff!) Keep up the good work guys.

Many members have stopped in to renew their memberships, say hello and bring warm holiday greetings. It's always nice to have some company this time of year. Soon many will be off to Florida or other points south and west to escape the winter chill. Some are already there.
Hey Joe Tee and Jan..... Glad you made it safe. I think our distinguished grill master mister Z and his wife Ann leave shortly, and a couple of the "Prime Timers" are headed for Arizona. Safe trip for all. See you in the spring. Bring back some sun!
I'm still doing paper work and putting off starting the annual scrubbing down of the kitchen. This of course entails that I must make my winter fashion statement of Jeans, old T-shirts and long yellow evening gloves with the designer name of "Playtex"! I'm a such a trend setter. Oy! I don't think Ralph Lauren will be calling on me anytime soon.

Not much else happening around here. I shall wait for the mail, clean up a bit and head out to get some holiday preparations done. Maybe make a couple of stops and partake in some holiday cheer.....Golfmama's sleigh is full of goodies that need delivered.

Make sure you have hung your stockings with care, with hopes that St. "Nicklaus" will soon be there........Ha!....I crack myself up. (Sorry)
But really, Merry Christmas Everyone. Hope Santa is good to you.

How may days until the Chili Open?!

Wake up call!

Nothing like easing your way into winter....Yikes! It was like Mother Nature was sleeping all of November and suddenly woke up and said "Oops, time to play catch up." and that she did.
What a Monday...Jeff was on short trip last week and came back to this!? I blame him for this.....and guess what?... He's loving it....? and so is Josh, and Jake is running around like it's raining American cheese and steak... What is wrong with my guys? Oh well, what ever makes them happy.
Speaking of them, they just walked in smiling from ear to ear, Coffee break. Jeff just said we will be golfing in a couple of weeks. I asked him if I could quote him on that, no response.
You never know..... Jakes running in circles, we're drinking coffee and laughing, just a normal day at St. Bernard G.C. in the winter.
Onward!
I'm stuffing envelopes and shuffling papers waiting for the call to go pick up the
"Bat Mobile" (as some my friends call it) not sure if there is any hidden affront in that?! Hmmm
I hope they call soon so I can get back here and get some work done. The Holidays are coming up fast, and I have plenty to get done here and at home, as I'm sure you all do too.....
Besides that, the snow has let up here and I can see the pavement on 303, unlike the ride home yesterday and the ride in today. Oy! It normally would not bother me, but not in a 2011 borrowed Cadillac, "get out of my way, I'm not used to this car!!" (Such Drama!)

That's all I got for now..... Will post again soon when I have more to tell.
Stay warm, drive slow and think Spring!
GO BROWNS......
"Sweet" Bowl game for OSU! OH....IO!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

What a difference a day makes....from Sunny and 50 to Cloudy and 40. And I still can't figure out these golfers....Yesterday was dead and today I have 8 guys out there!? (one of which is dad) Oy! Oh well, go figure. I think the next few days are going to be on the chilly side (you think Deb?!) But who knows....after that, I think were still going to get some pre Holiday golf in.
And if not, we can still get some pre Holiday cocktails in.....19th hole is open! Think positive!

Hope you Enjoy your family and friends this Thanksgiving....be thankful for all of them, and what you have accomplished throughout the year. I know I'm thankful for yet another year here at
the best little golf club in the world!! Thanks to all of you who have participated!
(was that too mushy?) Oh well......I mean it. See ya soon.

Nice November......

What a great way to start the "off" season....A whole week of sunshine and mild temperatures.
Plenty of golfers have been out to take advantage...... lot's of par's and birdies still out there to be had. I'm sitting on the porch posting this morning watching the 5-5-5 start to turn. Bob, Bill and Jim are just starting out, and Paul and Gary are just about done. Man they move fast......
I guess they want to get done so they can watch the Buckeyes beat Penn State. OH......IO!

The course really does look great. Kudos to Jeff and Josh for their efforts keeping up on the annual leaf patrol. Not too many golf balls lost out there......I think!? They also deserve praise for how effectively they managed the aerification of the greens this year. They were able to get the job done without too much inconvenience for the players. Keep up the good work guys....
You Rock!

It's that time of year for me to start my annual slew of paperwork.....memberships coming in, scheduling next years events, getting contacts for the leagues and booking outings.
How many days until the Chili Open? Oy!

The Buffalonians are in for the weekend......Marc, Kim and of course Uncle Mahoney made their quarterly passage across I 90 to spent a couple of days at hotel Fike. Marc will get in some golf, while Kim will putz around in my flower beds and clean them up for me. Your the bomb Kimmer! (now if I could just get her out here to help me). Jake and Uncle Mahoney are not sure about each other....but they seem to have found a mutual agreement that they are BOTH looking out for my best interests.....Mahoney- "don't mess with my Cleveland Mom!"
Jake - "don't mess with the chick that feeds me steak and cheese". Could be trouble......Yikes!
I finally get two guys to fight over me and they turn out to be dogs! LOL....

Not much else happening right now....
I think I'll go in and see what Judi can scrounge up for me to eat.....not much left here, but she is always able to come up with something good to eat. Double bogey?, Triple bogey?...
Rock on Judi!! Hang in there baby......
GO BUCKEYES!

Trick or Treat.....

How was every one's Halloween? Did you have many goblins and ghouls begging for treats?
I thought about giving out golf balls here, but decided I would rather not clean up eggs and toilet paper for the next couple of days......oy! No actually, I managed to sneak out of here Saturday afternoon and attend/help a good friendwith a Halloween party. My life long friend Angie hosted her annual Costume party at her tavern called Mad Mikes in Garfield Heights. My other life long friend Andrea and I went Saturday early and helped set up, party, then stayed the night.
What a blast!!!! I really needed a girls night out....and I got it. As I'm sure you figured out by now, the above photo is of the three of us. Andrea (the Christmas story leg lamp) was my travel companion when I went to Hawaii this year, and Angie (sexy Vampire lady) grew up next door to me, and of course me(golfer, go figure). I know, I know....that's the best I could come up with.
Thank you Therese and Judi for making it happen for me.....you are both the bomb!

Well it's that time of year now......time to poke holes in the greens. Yep, Jeff and Josh started the aerification. We got a late start because of me... I pushed them back because of some outings we had booked, and of course the weather did not cooperate. Sorry guys! Jeff was positive that everything would be fine....but then (again) of course something had to break......the aerator is not working correctly! Those poor guys....but Jeff just came in now and said they got it working.
Hang in there guys, your doing great!
Onward.............

We have a couple more days of promising weather coming up. Hope you can get out and take advantage of them. I have a few guys out now getting in their last Monday night round before the time change next week. Yep, next Monday it will be dark by 5:00pm. Too scary!!!
But let's think positive......el nino, la nina, la something....here's to a mild winter!!!

Not much else to report right now, so I am off in search of a Michelob. Talk with you soon.

Hanging on.....

Mother nature has granted us a few more golfer friendly days. What a woman!!!
Now if she can just hold back the "s" word until February of so, we'll be in good shape.
A girl can dream you know.....
The Pig Roast went well....Golf, lots of food and libations consumed and raffles were won. All in all a good day. Thank you to all who participated. Thank you again to Karen Bratz for helping me with the raffle (she's the bomb), and a big Thanks to my Uncle Harry and Tommy for roasting the hog. They should have their own show on the food network....cook a little...beer...cook a little....beer. Could be a big hit huh?! I've seen worse!!

Well....now it's time to sit down and start thinking about next year. Oy! No rest for the wicked..(and I guess I fall into that category) well......maybe some times.
Jeff, Josh and I were talking the other day, throwing around some ideas, and we thought......
We have the Chili OPEN, why not have a Chili CLOSER? Maybe a scramble sometime after the pig roast? Maybe a Spaghetti cook off...(an idea of Bob Ross' for years) or maybe golf and have a pot luck after......what do we think? Could be the start of a new tradition here at St. B.
Like the Firecracker, Kramer, and of course Jeff's Annual NFL bash....just to name a few.
Let me know your thoughts.

Not much happening here right now. I have a few guys out seeking out some pars and birdies before the sun sets...and the wind starts to blow down more leaves. Yikes......yep.... it's that time of year when Jeff and the crew start their annual chasing of the leaves game. Just when they get a handle on it....bamm....the wind changes. Everything they just moved to the west, gets blown back to the east. Maybe we should try North to South?! Oy! Hang in there guys, your doing great!

As for myself, I have my duties to attend to, one of which being the annual cleaning out of the refrigerator and freezers here. Can I say Yikes?!!!! What to do with what is left!? Plenty of things can be froze for use on the occasional winter day that allows us to squeeze in a round and I can whip up some grub. But others can not. So Jeff and Josh suggested I make a big pot of Chili. Chili it is.........I managed to pull a make shift chili out of what we had here, and used them as my taste testers. They said it was great! Then I decided to make them a Strata, and use up some of the eggs cheese milk and bacon left.....again they loved it. (I see a pattern here) They work so hard I think anything tastes good to them. Oh well... as long as their happy, I'm happy. I made them a deal...... they eat up all the left over food, and I will work on getting rid of the left over beer! LOL!

Ok, tomorrow is another day. Time for me to start the clean up here, lock up and head home.
What to do for dinner?.....maybe Strata?
Have a great evening, See you soon.

Last Club Event.....

This is it.....the last event of the 2010 season. The Pig Roast/Scramble is this Saturday the 16th.
Where did the season go? It seems like I was just posting the Chili Open winners on this blog, and now I'm preparing for the Pig Roast!? Oh well, deal with it Deb!

I would like to take a moment and thank all of you for your continued support of
St. Bernard Golf Club and its events. These events are held for your enjoyment and a great way for you to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow members. Also a big thank you to, Wally for his help with the weekend events, Ralph for his help with the Senior Opens, Judy White for helping and promoting ANYTHING to do with St. B.....(you rock girl!) , John Z for his grilling expertise (his wife Ann for her patience waiting to eat with her husband while he feeds everyone else) all the leagues, Prime Timers, Monday Night Teezers, Tee Timers, Tuesday Men's League (Joe Tee your the best!), Bath/Richfield Kiwanis, Casual Tees, Longo and Friends, Friday night Couples and the 5-5-5. You're all the Bomb!

Of course none of this would be possible without the hard work and total dedication of the Staff........I mean Family....of St. Bernard. Dad and I have been blessed with some of the hardest working people in any business. I think of us as family.....but you know how families are sometimes...yikes! Sometimes we get on each others nerves, but I think at the end of the day it's all good.
I've said it often, and will continue too....Jeff is the Bomb! Himself and his crew work their butts off to keep this course in the best conditions despite difficult weather, a limited budget, and a crazy woman G.M.!!! again Yikes!
Keep up the good work Jeff, Josh, Don, Bob, Matt, Ed, Dave
and of course JAKE! (cheese please tall lady?)
Thanks to the girls for keeping every one's tummies full with good food, and great libations. Linda, Therese, Judi, Sarah and Angie keep the Clubhouse rock'in. Rock on girls!!

Was that too sappy?........Oh well.......I truly believe it!
Anyway... I will post the results of the Pig Roast, and continue to keep you posted on what's happening here all year long. Have a great weekend and don't put those clubs away......plenty of good weather around the corner. Stay healthy!!! See ya soon.

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Don't put those clubs away yet....

we're still due an Indian Summer. Even though the last couple of days have been a reality check, I still believe we have plenty of nice days ahead. We still have a few club events left on the schedule, starting with the Clambake, then the Pig Roast and we still have one more Senior Open scheduled. Plenty of fun left......

Lot's of work left too..... the leagues are hosting their end of the year banquets over the the next couple of weeks. Meals are being planned, decorating needs to be done, and plenty of libations need to be consumed....oy! Sounds like a job for Golfmama!
The Monday night teezers had their banquet last night. I think they had a good time.
The committee choose a nice meal, and the prizes and decor were first class.
Way too go girls.....You Rock! Thank you Linda and Sarah for taking good care of our Ladies.

Next up are the Casual Tees (thursday), Tee Timers (tuesday) and the Friday Night Couples...
Thank you all for your continued support. You're all a huge factor in what makes this Club Rock!! (and I say "Rock On")

Jeff, Josh, Dad and I had a nice Pow wow today watching it rain....Oy! Plenty of projects on the agenda...Jeff and Josh have great ideas on some improvements that can be made, along with creative ideas on how to fix some problem areas that need attention. Together I think we can find the means and resources to get these projects done over the winter. Rest assured we will give it all we got......(hopefully without damaging ourselves) Yikes!
Jake will be here all year chasing the geese away (and maybe a squirrel or two up a tree) and I will keep his tummy full with steak and cheese.....nothing but the best for our guy!

On that note....I think I'm going home and figure out what to put in my tummy. Not much happening here. Looks like the rain will continue and the course is a little wet. Tomorrow is another day......Have a good evening!

See you in September....

Oh, it is September.... My favorite Month. Football, great weather, leaves turning....and of course, great golf conditions. What more can girl ask for?!
Sort of a busy Sunday morning here. The 5-5-5 are here as usual, Ken and Gary started early as usual, and we have some guys trying the course. (hope they like it) What's not to like?
Josh is busy cleaning up the patio, Judi is busy cleaning up the Kitchen, Jake is out barking at cats.......not sure where Jeff is?.....and I'm sitting here Blogging. All is right in Richfield.

We had the 2nd Round of the Club Championship yesterday. A good day.
Dave Stanfield came out on top for the Men's Division, John Zupanc took Low net for Men
and Diane Schuster grabbed low net for the Women's division. And in the end, I triumphed over my friend Lori and won the Women's Low Gross. (sorry girlfriend, I just can't let you beat me!)
Although I must say we both had bad rounds yesterday....mine was just not as bad as hers.....Oy!
Oh well....a good time was had. Thanks to all who participated.

I'm looking forward to the Browns season opener today.....again...I LOVE this time of year.
A little golf, a little beer, and football. Tis the season.
How about those Buckeyes?! Great "D" and a good Offense equal a winning score. Should be a great season for OSU. Now if the Browns can do the same, it might make the winter around here a little more tolerable. (Yikes.......don't say winter Deb!) sorry.

ello......dank you for kalling us bank, my name is peggy, ow can I elp you ?
(I'm going to duck tape Judis mouth!!!!!) I"ll be repeating that all day now...
or singing some sort of stupid song..... yikes!
On that note......I'm off to fix the garbage disposal that she broke! Oy! What next?
Have a great Sunday.....see you soon.

NFL Bash Hits Home Run.......

or do I mean touchdown? Either way, it was a GREAT day yesterday. Everything fell into place for Jeff's 3rd Annual NFL Bash. Perfect weather, a large turn out and lots of food, beer, pop and water made for a good day all around. Everyone seemed happy (check out the slide show to the right, click on it to enlarge) even Jake was smiling the whole time. Of course what's not for him to smile about? Steak was flying off plates all through the clubhouse.....GOOOOOOD DOG!
Better start chasing those geese and work some of that off! Jake rocks!
So do Jeff and Josh...... they put so much effort and attention to detail into the event, it really showed. I am so proud of both of you!....and your crew. Keep up the good work.
Linda, Therese and Mony took care of everything in the clubhouse with their usual efficiency.
This allowed me to go out and golf without worrying if everything was going smooth.
Thanks Girls.....Love you all!
Of course this didn't guarantee my game would be any better.....Oy! Oh well, maybe next time.

Ok...Judi has found a cheerleader mega phone left over from yesterday and chanting cheers....
two- four- six -eight.....who do we appreciated? Judi! Judi! Judi!
Jeff, Josh and Matt are in tears......Me too!!!!
I think we are all so tired that were getting slap happy.
I know I could use a nap. But, not in the cards for now.

Looks like another good weather day. Hope this brings out some more golfers.
Only 8 of the 5-5-5 this morning?! Whats up with that? Guess we wore them out yesterday.
Oh well. Whats a girl to do? GET TO WORK!!! That's what.
See ya soon...........

Ben Kramer Memorial

We managed to get the two day tournament in this weekend without any rain.
Yee.... and might I add, Haw........! The forecast called for thunderstorms on Sunday, but once again the forecasters were wrong. Just enough to help along my ulcer....Oy!
The competition, the rain Saturday afternoon, and the hot weather all combined, made for some tough playing conditions. But in the end the strongest teams prevailed.... Congratulations!!!
See photos on the right for the Winners.
Also congratulations to all who participated. We had some good teams out there and the sportsmanship shown through in true fashion. Thanks everyone!
Next up.........
Jeffs 3rd Annual Football bash. Saturday August 28th 9:00 am shotgun. Jeffs already like a kid on Christmas morning. He has lots of surprises for us......I can't wait to see what he comes up with this year!? again...Oy!
That's all I got for now.... I'll keep you updated on any happenings...Have a great week.

Full Moon??????

It just has to be....... Crazy morning around here. Busy, and that's good...but crazy!
14 of the 5-5-5, 28 of the Friday night couples and assorted other golfers are out enjoying this beautiful morning. All is good.

We hosted the C-town annual golf outing here yesterday. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and I received many compliments on the Golf Course conditions. Our compliments go to all the participants. I was able to participate in the outing, and enjoyed a great afternoon of good friends, good weather, and of course.....Cold Beer.... Oy! It was a good day.
Thank you my girlfriend Jill......You Rock!
Thanks Joe Tee for all of your help!

Indeed Jeff, Josh, Augie, Grant, Matt, Don and Bobby have done a fabulous job keeping the course in great condition despite some exhausting weather conditions.
Rock on guys!!!!!

On to the next venue.......Ben Kramer Memorial August 14th and 15th. Always a good time this event. Two days of golf and fun. What more can a girl ask for? (don't answer that!) Ok...maybe answer that.

The 5-5-5 are coming in now and Judi can use my help. She has been singing stupid songs all morning trying to get them stuck in my head...... "whats new pussy cat? whoa whoa......" Oy!
Have a great rest of the Weekend.... See you soon

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Rain Rain go away.........

Enough already! It's raining here again this morning!? Just what we need....I have an outing of 70 today. Musketeers will tee off at 10:00 am. I'm hoping for the best.....
The 5-5-5 are sitting in here waiting for the rain to stop.....and solving all the worlds problems while they wait. Oy! Please stop raining so they can start.......

On the upside, the PGA Bash went well. Everyone seemed to enjoy the fish and chips, Amber Bach Beer and the ButterSCOTCH cookies I made. I even had the winning team wear Kilts that I made. Check out the first place photo....they were good sports about it, and even got into the spirit of things. Thanks guys!

Ok, the rain has stopped (thank you!) and the 5-5-5 are out the door (thank You!)
After 20 minutes of debating on what they would play, they decided on a Ryder Cup..... Oy!
This has disaster written all over it.....I'm glad I'm not playing. Lots of work for Deb.
Judi is making me laugh.....Jeff, Augie and Jake are cleaning carts....Matt is mowing...all is right in Richfield.
Speaking of work.....time for me to get my butt in gear.
The weather looks great for the rest of the week. Hope you can get out and enjoy........
see you soon!
